Hey cool, Earworm's checking this thread. I have a few things I'd like to bring up.
-Any chance of adding footsteps? It'd change gameplay a lot if we heard people around us. That may be more advantage than intended so I wouldn't be surprised if they're intentionally left out.
-I hear random bullet chirps OFTEN when I'm 99% sure no one's firing at me. When I'm frustrated with disbelief I hold still just to see if someone will to take my head. I almost always walk away alive. I hear phantom sounds other places too. Yet, when I AM getting hit at, as of Uprising, I often hear nothing. With each impact. This is especially bad when you can't see a sniper render when looking at it these days. The bullet contrail doesn't appear either. I hope all that gets fixed someday, but just consistent sniper round sounds would make the anti sniper game much less bad. This is probably related, but I also don't hear forges hitting my vehicle a few feet from me, sometimes. My guess is it's all related to the client PS3 not crediting the attacker somehow at a certain range, not with graphics or sounds. But they do get to hit you. Nothing fun about that. Also, getting hit by a charge sniper and surviving should have alarming feedback instead of a very soft bullet chirp. It doesn't have to be loud, but it should be striking, because it is.
-IMO LAVs are too loud by far. Modern small vehicles at their noisiest are only almost this bad. I think it would be in a future weapon designer's best interest to not remove the muffler.
-I think the scrambler rifle sounds silly. It's reminds me of a gentle toy version of the death ray noise from the old War of the Worlds movie. Getting nailed by the full charge should be a audio shock IMO.
-But the headshot sound is the biggest shock. It deserves repeating. It's borderline ear damaging in my headset, and my other sounds are soft. Not cool. That and the CCP logo splash. I have my audio settings in game at extremely low, and that logo is 10x loud as everything else so it probably isn't responding to volume settings.
-Turret installation users hear practically nothing when their character is hit. Maybe that's an intended balance. I can't see why my clone can't give me a special indication that he's catching mortal wounds aside from a number in the corner dropping.
