You're assuming the hurt, most proto users have hundreds of million ISK, they could run proto all day every day till the cows come home. |

honestly i'm not sure why they changed the skill system the way they did it used to be 6-7 mil to get into a proto suit + proto weapons + almost all useful passives.
now it's around 16 mil.
I miss the old skill system sometimes it didn't seem like such a grind to get everything =/ |

It's funny how you guys think proto suits are such a big deal. I run proto suits 100% of the time because I have absolutely no reason not to. I have 100+ million ISK and usually over 500 fully stocked suits, so I don't really care much if I lose one, five, or ten in a match. My suits cost about 140k and I still make a profit in most of my games because Im usually not dying more than once or twice in pubs.
That being said, I don't like pub stomping any more than you guys. In fact, I love it when my "Proto Bear" squad is actually matched up with a squad of equally skilled/geared people. Those games always turn out the hardest and most fun. Unfortunately, the matchmaking system more often than not pits my squad against a bunch of random newberries and the cycle of QQ continues. Hate the game, not the player. |

WE HAVE SO MANY OPTIONS I don't own not one proto mod or suit. I bought the elite pack so I stick to std suits for now so I can focus on my weapons and I still kill more than proto suits. Peoole who run proto are actually at a huge disadvantage due to the fact that you get used to your high survivability against std or adv gear that once you face a proto you fail. That's why I use my std assault suit with basic mod and play shoot to kill. After all I I have to react faster because of my lower health. |

I mostly suck so I will run proto suits and mods whenever possible. If I ever get good then I'll be that much more effective. If it means I increase my chances of surviving or winning an engagement by 1%, then so be it.
My kill totals are never more than a handful anyway, so it shouldn't matter too much. Only reason I even bother with proto is because I was killed by them so much as a newbie. If you can't beat'em, join'em, as they say. |

Wouldn't that mean we're all scrubs, including yourself, due to the fact that you'd be applying "house rules" that it's okay to use gear that's typically intended for higher end matches against people that are often times just out of the academy instead of the anti-proto view that a large number of people have thanks to the mismatchmaking? Wait. Hang on. That's... what happens when people have different opinions?! WHAT?! Let's be uniform and non-different. Hey, wait a moment. You're part of EoN. One of the last people to put opinions out about using protogear in a pub. Almost as bad as SVER, though I don't see as many Madrugars from you people. Huehuehue. |

Wait... what? The game is letting me use proto in pub, I didn't make that 'rule' for myself.
I'm not going to defend the game for letting proto players play against militia... but you're just as likely to come across an enemy using proto. So why arbitrarily make up your own rules and then complain when others don't follow it? That's the black and white definition of a scrub.
I'm not defending the game's horrible match making, or even poor design (you may have seen me rail against the horrible LAV implementation here and there.). I just pointed out the irony of someone saying something is "scrub" while being a scrub. |

Eh? I didn't say "stop using proto in pub" or "use only blah blah", I said that I make it my aim to kill them that are using it.
We've gotten on the wrong foot here.
Alright. I consider people that use high end gear against low end to be scrubs. Not a rule enforcer type of scrub, but the sort that is comparable to, say, someone with everything in BF3 against someone who only has played for a week or so. The whole "knowledgeable vs learning" scenario. I probably should of been clearer on what I meant, considering we're all more than likely from a list of different backgrounds, so I'll take a hit for that but nothing else.
While I detest people doing high end versus low end, I'm not going to tell them to stop, but I'm also not going to forgive them. Eventually, those low ends (if they don't quit, which is completely understandable considering the state of the game) are going to be high end. My problem with that, however, is the vicious cycle of highs picking on lows, lows get high, high picks on low. [I]That's[i] the problem I have. |

A mixture of standard and advanced gear will do more then enough to be competitive in pub matches, only PC "needs" Proto and rare-salvage gear.
Too many people waste points on buying level 5 crap when they could have spend the same buying a bunch of level 3-4 stuff.
You'll be competitive faster, and start earning rewards faster, if you diversify and invest in a bunch of Adv gear to build yourself up, then start working towards that proto-crap. Doing what half of the player base does and buy proto-crap one bit at a time just shoots yourself in the foot by having lopsided loadouts. |
