Cygnus Gogela wrote:So I was playing the other day and feeling like not too much has changed. Vehicle control has gotten a little better, but it's definitely not in the "good" category. Still major problems with hit detection (particularly w/ shotguns... maybe ARs) and splash damage. Player control not too fluid, public matches filled with AFK bots.... throwing grenades doesn't feel very 'good', etc, etc. Blah blah blah you guys know all of this too. So why are YOU sticking around? Are you thinking things are progressing well? Is there something you are looking forward to? You hear something about a new feature coming into the game or new fixes? Just curious. Tired of the grind...
I was sticking around because I was hoping CCP, after 2 months would be able to fix a lot of the performance issues. But here we are after 2 months. The performance issues are still here or are worst than before. The fact that I can set the game on low and still get horrible fps(~10) is just unacceptable.
O, it's not just the performance issues that irk me. Poor controls: why on earth does it feel like I am wrestling the game for control when I aim? Poor server / client talk: When guys are able to exploit the poor server/client talk to fit up stamina packs and a MD and bunny hop knowing that horrible client reliability makes their tactic impossible to go up against. It's not just a HTFU moment either, it's more of 'Why the **** should I bother?" It's not even the people who use MD's fault, it's the only way to play to win atm. If you're competitive, why spec into something that is so unreliable?
Voice Comms blunder, the patch has broken the ability to mute clients.(1.3) While fixing the issue of priority talkers, the extra bandwidth of having to support 16 people in a match from the inability to mute makes no difference in the performance and puts everyone back to square one.
Hell, you'd think that performance would be a top priority. Because despite adding content or fixing balance issues to get applause. Performance issues that just makes the game plain frustrating is the true game killer, and it's starting to wear on a lot of people quickly.
Basically the end result comes down to: Why play this game to beta test, when I play other games I enjoy without the frustration of having to deal with the issues? CCP quote on the blog said "We're all in this together.". Well sadly, a lot of people are getting tired of sticking by your side while you take your time. |

I still hope CCP makes it big with this game, but I'm a bit worried.
FIrst I played a lot, grinding the cap for two character, then I AFKed a lot, now I don't even feel like starting up my PS3.
At least I can still post on the forums without an active sub unlike eve \o/ |

The aiming system is messed up in DUST right now, I'd come back once they fix it. And when CCP finally does fix it...Oh my lawd....people will be TERRIFIED to come in close quarters. No one fears CQC right now and that's because not many people use SG's, it's mostly AR's. The shotty ratio will go up once they fix the aiming problems. |

Maybe because I never really played shooters before (I liked Nintendo games and RPG's) but I really like Dust 514. It's a lot of fun because I don't make it the end-all of my life. K/D ratio sucks in a match? who cares? Just lost a ton of isk? Then I'll make some suits that cost less than 10,000. The point is it's just a game and as long as I treat it that way I can't be angry for what happens.
Also, I love how much I've been able to customize my soldier. This makes me feel like she's really unique compared to the other clones running around and that I have that much more invested in playing her.
If there's any negative side to playing Dust 514 is the crap I get from my gamer friends. For a long time they've been trying to get me to play Call of Duty, Gears of War and BF while I've been happy chillin' in Hyrule. Now that I'm playing a shooting game they're like "oh, that game. you should play a REAL game!"
Well, you know what?!? I like Dust 514! You can cram your sweaty muscle steroid misogynists and shove them up your-
*ahem* sorry. got a little carried away. I play Dust because I like the game. I don't need anyone to tell me why I should or shouldn't like something. Dust all the way.
I do take a lot of breaks in between marathon sessions though... ._. |

I play because I enjoy it....youre always going to have matches where you get stomped either legitimately or by arguably cheap tactics, but overall I have a lot of fun playing.
no small part is due to my corp and having a lot of great people to squad with (good team work good chat good laughs)
no one can tell you why you should play... if you don't like dust I say quit, life is to short to do unnessesary things you dislike, theres enough in life you have to do you don't like in life right?
come back from time to time if you think there is something here you want to be a part of...

I thought it was because anyone now who is still playing in 3 years time gets to use this as their personal theme tune:
Have faith (I'm on my phone so the link may need changing slightly)
