To me the plasma cannon is a long range mortar launcher. But its not that scary up close because of it reload time. I always get gunned down when ever I use it in CQC. Its not terrible but its not good it need a larger AOE and son more blast damage. For how slow it shoots and how fast the plasma travels it need a little buff. I love the concept of it thought. What do you think |

I think it needs more splash damage and radius. Should also travel a lot faster. It looks so funny how slow the missile flies.

The placon is my 'guilty pleasure' weapon. Its so situationally(apparently not a real word) limited its no wonder its under used, well, that and tiny splash area, crap vs vehicles, and slow projectile travel speed. Works rather well if you are good enough to score some direct hits against infantry though. Whenever I'm feeling down I jump into PC built-suit and one shot all sorts of fellows not paying attention, makes me feel good knowing I eff'ed up their day killing them with a PC. |

I dont use it. But I've been on the receiving end, and I must say the slowness of it does offer a surreal quality no other weapon really has. Ohhhhh sshhhiiiiii....
Granted, it doesnt get used well very often. |

Every time I see someone lugging that massive thing over their shoulder I'm like "Oh hell what's tha... oh... oh ok its just the cannon".
Though there was this one time I turned the corner and started unloading my ar into this amarr a few seconds before my corpse got rag dolled half across the map. The kill screen said plasma cannon and I thought "well, at least my death just made somebody's day". |

It's bad at everything...except one-shotting heavies in the 5-15 meter range. That just makes the kills I actually manage to get with it that much sweeter. |

I agree. I was using the standard yesterday and it proved it needs some tweaking. But maybe not as much as you may think. I got fourteen kills with it in one match. How? I used a basic damage modifier . I think it would only be fair if they put some more damage and blast radius, because it has such a small ammo capacity. But it also takes a lot of CPU and seems pretty weak in general. Also against vehicles too, seriously. It's a really cool idea though. |

The idea of the mortar launcher kinda sparked an idea. Give the cannon larger and more splash, but make it arc like a son of a *****, about the same speed for the shot too, it just looks cool. It would be effective for chasing enemies out of cover or downing enemies at half health, but not enough to outright kill without a direct lob onto their head. |

I can see it now..
"I need a Mortar Squad to direct fire on Alpha!"
6 Plasma Cannons turn up with Nanohives, drop them on the floor and begin firing at Alpha.
You know what, I think that sounds quite epic. |

Not a long range weapon. It is meant to be used to flank enemies and shoot at guys that are standing still behind cover. It works great for crowd control, shooting into a swarm of people usually gets at least one kill.
I find it fun and not EXTREMELY hard to use. Think of it as a Mass Driver that takes skill to use. You got to get direct hits not just shoot at there feat. Also, only one round compared to six. |

I wrote up a somewhat lengthy post in the feedback section on it.
I've been using it for the last ~4 days or so, sometimes for the entire time I played one night. The blast damage and direct damage seem about right, 285 splash for the std variant is a pretty useful amount. And not many suits, if any, can survive a direct hit.
The main problem is the small blast radius and/or hit detection. Too many times I fire right next to somebody and they take no damage, the radius is small, but not THAT small. Everybody here remembers how powerful the core flaylock was, and that only had a 2m radius. Heck, even the advanced flaylock before with 1.5m hit more reliably and in a larger radius than the PC.
For the plasma cannon to be a viable weapon on the battlefield (it's a novelty right now, nobody would use it competitivly in PC), it needs the following adjustments:
- Larger splash radius, I'm thinking 6m or so, or 6.6m like grenades. Also hit detection needs to be looked at, as that might be the only problem.
- Right now it is useless against all vehicles except the cheap LAV's, so I suggest that the missiles have magnetism to vehicles like AV nades do, and perhaps a small buff to direct damage. Or I suggest that the direct damage be massively pumped up, to around 2000 or 3000. Direct damage as it is now OHK's all suits, so raising it won't make it unbalanced towards infantry and will make it useful against vehicles.
This weapon has a lot of downsides, such as only one-shot before reloading, long reload times, spool-up time, slow moving projectile, hard to switch to secondary after firing, and limited ammo. So it should be a LOT more useful than it is now. I'm guessing CCP wanted to start it off low... way below what they actually want. Probably to test the waters so see if it UP or not, then buff as needed. I just wish they wouldn't take so long to tweak weapon stats.

Either it needs a plain old buff to its damage & blast radius. Or its basic behaviour needs reworking. Perhaps a clip size of 3, an increased travel speed, bonus AV damage, or something of the like. Weapon variants are also crucial. Having a weapon that can be used for AV or AP, but is useful as neither, is a waste of time. Variants can remedy this. |

Hey... I use that sh!t... I get a tank kill with it maybe... twice a week lol.... after I pump all my OP AV grenades into it... takes skill to get that last plasma shot into a vehicle, just to see it on the kill feed. |

The Plasma Cannon is fine. I use it, tacked with my ability to predict most people's movements, to pretty much destroy anything unlucky enough to be in my sights.
Not useful against vehicles? Many LAV drivers have said that. Many didn't live.
Not useful against tanks? I was lugging this Plasma Cannon around when I spotted a comrade with a Forge Gun. Ever seen these two weapons against a shield tank? I take first shot. He takes second and continues to unload. After his third shot, I'm already charging up a shot. Boom, death for the heavy that was using goddamn prototype modules (you bastard, stay out of Ambush with that crap).
I use the Plasma Cannon for both long and close range. People poop themselves when a PC bounds around the corner and pops 'em. Situation awareness and experience with these sorts of weapons strongly helps.
My opinion? Forge Gun is fine. Plasma Cannon is fine. Mass Driver is fine. Flaylock is (now) fine. I've killed many with these weapons and I've been killed many times with them. I hate seeing the MD being spammed like it is now, but that's life in New Eden. |

Look when you thank plasma cannon you think! Slow ROF, high damage for infantry and vehicles, large blast radius. Not too direct hits on a medium frame .because of its slow sorry very slow speed (reload and projectile rate) it needs something. Not saying it needs to be forge gun strong but it don't par up with any thing it sucks . Any thing with the word cannon or plasma in it should make people **** there pants. |

I love the plasma cannon, but it could use better splash damage, it has such a liquid look to it when it's flying through the air that it only makes sense.
I keep thinking of that stuff...ummm....greek fire? Whenever I watch it. Kinda pretty and scary and so awesome at the same time. But agreed about the reload time |

If they buff it, they're just going to have to nerf it right back. The advanced and protos could use a little more though, I don't really see any point in upgrading. |

There is literally no harm in buffing direct damage between tiers as it OHKs infantry in any case, but it would make it more viable as AV. Splash needs a *small* buff, maybe the 10% it never got beforehand? |

I say leave the slow reload and one shot . That right there gives it a resin to be devastating. It just isn't and anyone how gits kills most likely gets them with a fast frame so they can evade when they sneak up on an unlucky light frame.poor SOB never stood a chance should have been a medium or heavy. on the other hand it needs to put the fear in people heads like how the flay lock did in 1.2 |
