So that's why a a single forge can destroy them so easily. Now when proto tanks are added back again I'll see if the forge gunners are still finding an easy way to destrpoytanks. Other than all don't get all butthurt on me simplly because I stated the right facts on why alot of non-forgers want the gun nerfed. So calm your **** dude.
First my butt feels fine and dandy. Second I don't give a hoot nanny what happens to FGs ( currently just messing with them for fun mixing it up I play logi mostly). Third you did worse than ask for a nerf on the gun's damage or rate or fire....you asked Forge Gunners to nerf themselves cause you "have no problem with forge gunners on the ground" lol....so you want to nerf mountains, buildings, basically anything that gives these players an advantage JUST so you can dispose of them at will. If I logged on tomorrow and you or forge guns or both were gone guess what I would be fine with it g'nite! |

so a Forge gunner on a tower is unfair yet a sniper on the tower is fair? what about MD's? i see them on towers as well can i say thats unfair?
i think people here should get off their high horses and just HTFU. just because we're using that tactic its now all of a sudden unfair and needs nerfing. nerfing from what? being on a high building that CCP put there for us to use? thats like telling someone not to use the toilet even though its there for them to use.
and sniping snipers?? dude you clearly havn't seen how difficult it is to "snipe" a sniper thats shooting from the redline. and should i still mention the fact that we can't ADS? it takes some skill to lead a target with the FG and on a tower everyone below is a small target to shoot at |

You are right. There is a problem with Forge Guns. There's also a problem with Tanks and snipers, and you've already highlighted it: Height Advantages on Maps.
The problem is in map designs which have extreme distance height advantages, which can only be counteracted by very specific means(Dropshop). The problem is especially apparent with Forge Guns and Tanks, where once they are established, there is virtually no way to get them off because they can maintain height superiority, shooting down any dropships which try and counter them.
Again, this is really just poor map design, and the players doing anything and everything they can to get an unfair advantage.
CCP really needs to take a look at their maps and perform some structure modifications to prevent crap like that. A forge gunner 50M up? Sure, it sucks, but you can kill him. A forge gunner 280M up? Very very hard to counter, even with snipers. |

either get rid of the high towers for good or add a ladder on the tower for someone to sneak up on the FG snipers |

I prefer forge-gunning at a range where people can fight back with their Tac ARs, LRs, sniper rifles or tank turrets... it's much more fun when they fight back with their pew-pew guns before going BOOM.

Nerfing Forge Guns would be like nerfing Sniper Rifles. It all comes down to how a player uses the weapon. Map control is and should continue to be a huge part of the game. Forge Gunners should ALWAYS use height advantage. If you stay on the ground, you're not doing it right at all.
That being said, I believe I heard FGs will be getting a range nerf soonTM. |

And that is simply not true. Forge gun efficiency range is 300M Absolute is 320M. That does not cover redline to redline on Any map. Even on manus peak. I cannot get a hit on Dropship hovering above the redline behind B From the Null cannon at A. I urge you to go use one and see for yourself before making such claims. |

Agreed.
Like I said earlier in the thread, the problem isn't as much the forge gun as it is the godawful map design. remove the idiotic tower platforms and most of the forge gun problems disappear. |

CCP just needs to make all buildings accessible by means other than dropships. Even if it means an exposed ladder.
It's also annoying what happened to the orbital artillery. That outpost used to be amazing. There were ladders everywhere, and even a heavy could move between buildings, and get onto vantage points. Then the AR scrubs complained that the outpost was sniper city, and CCP decided to remove most of the ladders and put the ugly fences on top of all the buildings. |

I love my forge gun, but l know in the not to distant future, it will be nerfed. It's sad but true.
Scrubs using it to tower snipe will become the new FOTM. After the fraylock nerf bad players are now clamoring to find ways to get easy kills.
Currently I'm am trying to transition to the Plasma Cannon. Underpowered? Yes, but it's better than waiting for my FG to get nerfed. |

Don't see CCP nerfing the gun because we Heavies go up high and be all tactical. That's the same as nerfing sniper rifles because they sit in the redline killing everyone.
Personally I think the FG is just in the sweet spot. A non-moving target is always a easy kill, but once when players, LAV's or even tanks go moving a lot I require a lot more shots. A moving assault for example usually takes two to three hits thanks to splash damage. Count in I need to charge my gun for 2-2,5 seconds and still aim and you easily have 6 seconds it takes to usually kill somebody.
As long as I know AR's **** my ass in less than 4 seconds! |

This is, by far, the most boring way to play the game, let alone the most boring way to use a forge gun. Leave that **** to the *yawn* snipers. Forge gunners should stick to ground or ladder access buildings only!
I do it often with my squad, but I try to avoid the very high towers and such. Things like the mushroom are the perfect height. Makes my targets a bit bigger and at the same time I get some nice resistance. :P Or maybe my favourite: the tabletop! (if there aren't pesky snipers with their charged variant on the high towers... >.> ) |

You sir get my drift. Even if the forge gun is fine, this continuous play style will drive the players crazy and rage about the forge gun even more.
If the forge gunners that use that play style were to tone it down a little then the wouldn't have to worry about the forge gun getting hit with the nerf hammer |

Im actually going Heavy/ FORGE GUN TODAY.
1-st // I play scout, so i get owned by everything since profile dampening/scanning systems are useless. Too many open maps. From vehicles to Mass drivers, flaylocks , Spray a prayers with duvolles etc...And im tired of it. So freakn tired of getting killed just because some dude happened to be looking my side,alerting other 2+ enemy players...
2-I decided i wanted to survive plus still give a good use to my Ishikune SMG with Prof 4. 3-Im tired to death of vehicles 4- I have really good aim now, and the weapon that better rewards you for it is the forge gun. Also i can use my Scrambler rifles with the heavy suit.
Love Forge guns, and even if people whine, i dont think they might get nerfed, there are a lot of more OP weapons than the FG. At least the FG needs skill to use.... |
