I swear, every time I see a squad on the other team they are running full Proto gear. Sadly, we still end up winning a lot of these fights, even if they kill more clones then us. Are there any other corps that got bored of steamrolling newberries?

The added survivability combined with superior squad tactics makes dying extremely rare so that there's not even that larg of a risk to go negative ISK wise. Not that any of said corps could care less about losing miniscule amounts of ISK.

If you run ambushes then yeah, I suppose a full proto squad would make sense, and one-sided battles are what you want.

To me it would be like unlocking all the other guns and attachments in other games and only using the stuff you started with, it isn't fun when you have better stuff. Plus it is affordable to do so, unlike chrome were the suits were WAY more expensive, the old heavy suit alone was what? 252k ISK?

I get that and I'm not necessarily knocking them for it, nor am I trying to make us out to be better than anyone for doing what we do. In our experience, corp members started getting bored of red line matches with few wp, not to mention people start to get used to lone wolfing around because you can take on a group of newberries at once pretty easily in Proto gear.

I'm not running proto anything yet ( no point with crappy support skills) and our corp has a rather mixed everyday setup. I was merely pointing out that, apart from being fed up with "easy mode until matchmaking", not running proto when you can is almost pointless.

I used it exclusively for a while.

My proto fits run about 285-300k a suit, and I really don't get that much of a boost from ADV to PRO heavy. I can get everything I need done, done in an ADV suit for ~85k. The price jump is just not worth it for pub matches. (Especially considering how crappy armor tanking is). So, right there with you man.

It made the game more interesting, although I had to hide quite a bit from getting shot to hell, but good teammates always had my back so that made it easier.

This has been the solution since day 1: If you bring protype gear to a fight, you should bleed protype gear like a pinata. If I was heavily rewarded for killing harder opponents I would have literally 0 problem fighting them. (not that I truly care all that much now however) Part 2 of that is allowing for people to sell back protype gear creating scarcity in face of high demand. Trust me, that **** would balance out so fast. We currently, and always have, desperately needed a market in this game.

I'm still a so/so tanker, meaning, I need money.

My wallet looked very very pitiful afterwards I go to play a game, Imediatly upon hitting the ground my head was blown off by a sniper.. doh Spawn in again and I get OHK by a FG trying to run across the street .. doh So I try to use another.. I get ripped by a toxin rifle from behind .. doh lord I am bad.. So I just leave that game.. i'm already down 500k isk from just that Then I got to another game, decide to use a new 3k isk fit I made, called cheap MD I went 23/2 wtf

(might as well be militia though for 3.3k) Sure I still die, but if you don't lose stuff you don't learn from your mistakes.

But, I'm pretty sure no one has any protosuits or any other weapons. I typically run STD gear, eq & weapons, w/ ADV modules for shields/speed/stamina. It's a good time. I think my proto scout gear is too expensive to run if I had it, since I tend to die so much. Proto gallente scout gear only provides a few extra low slots and no extra high for HP mods. I can die in a MUCH more cost effective manner running STD gear.

The 15 dB one may be necessary if there's some dirty dampening bastards trying to flank your team. Rarely does my Scanner fail though.

I only have access to adv scanner atm , I played with it a little but I felt it was useless really and that something better could go in it's place... but I was using a thinking for the team mindset( team never really ever took advantage of me popping up swarms of reds headed their way behind a hill ).. maybe I need one to keep my own ass alive lol. I'll give it a try

Everybody says it discourages newberries, but I remember getting mowed down by black suited duvolles back in closed beta, and it only made getting one for myself all the more satisfying.
