So, you might have seen my last topic about the SCR.
I decided to spec into it, and give it a try. To say that thing is not OP, would be a lie and a half. There are only 2 drawbacks to using it, the over heat(which is not really a balance to to weapon that can kill in one shot) and the overheat animation stall.
The animation stall is the one I want to bring up. When my Scrambler overheats, it goes into the animation where it glows red and cools down before it can be used again. During that time I can't do anything but wait for the gun to cool off. I try to throw a grenade, switch to my secondary, pull out a repair tool, etc; nothing happens. I have to sit and wait for the animation to complete before I can do anything.
What I want to know is, is this built into the game, or is it something CCP overlooked like so many things they already have. I can understand that if the weapon overheats, you probably don't want to sling it over your shoulder when its glowing red.Part of me can accept that, but its a game that doesn't have any emphasis on realism or physics, and I can't give CCP that much credit.
Is it a glitch that I can't switch out to anything while I'm in the cool down phase, or is it intentional? |

-XOXO I have used TARs. I've used the Duvolle. Truth be told it was so good, that it was boring. From what I've tried of the SCRs so far, its the same. If SCRs weren't overly effective, then why are more, and more, people using them? If they are so balanced, then why do people use them at all? Why not just use TARs, or ARs, or Shotguns?
In the first 10 seconds of using an SCR I said "This thing is OP as f*ck". I went 6-2 in 2 minutes. I had 5 assists to go with it, and a 1HK. It takes no skill to use. But maybe that's because I know my way around FPS so there is no learning curve for me.
Right now I'm dabbling into Lasers because I like punishment, and I got 50 free "Burnstalks" from the July promotions to use up, lol. |

Who needs a headshot when I can drain the entire shield of a Heavy in one charged body shot? But I think the hitbox for the SCR Headshot is very liberal. So far, and I'm not exaggerating, 40-50% of my SCR kills are headshots, and I'm not aiming for the head in general. I probably have just as many headshots with SCRs as ARs after one day of using them.... |

I've been playing FPS for 20 years, I know my way around, and i know what's OP, normal, balanced, and what's not...

Oh shoot, I forgot... this is FPS logic.
You're right. I'm better with the SCR than the AR because I'm that awesome! I have so much skill that CCP will personally make me a FoTM. I can't help it I'm that awesome at this game. Its not the gear or weapons I'm using. Its not me abusing the mechanics, its me just plain ole DOMINATING!
Of course, I do die once in a great while, but that's because the game is broken, I have sh!tty teammates, and the tryhard *** boy that killed was a tryhard *** boy. Its never my fault that I die, EVER. Anything that can kill me needs a nerf, and anything I do good with is fair and balanced, and most likely needs a buff so other not-so-skilled players, unlike myself, can use it and be almost as successful as I am. |

Did you major in idiocy in college? The scrambler rifle overheats, has less range, and damages you if you spray and pray. The Assault Rifle (specifically the TAR) has far more accuracy (than the assault version), does not overheat, and does not damage you if you spray and pray. Oh and it has barely any recoil. So you specced into the basic SCR and played maybe a match or two and you think you know everything about it? Oh wait sorry it's your knowledge of other FPSs that somehow makes you an expert at this one. That's like saying: "I studied dentistry so now I can do open heart surgery."

OP sucks at FPS just look at his videos. News flash 90% of the Dust community is trash but we've seen your vehicles you are a slightly above average player but compared to the militia/std users in pubs it make a proto SCR look better then it is. In fact most proto weapons will drop a deuce over most of the gear people use in pubs.

lol, my K/D did raise .01 when I used the SCR. I used it for about 20-25 matches. Is there a 10,000 pg manual about this gun that I need to know about? Because it couldn't possibly be that everything about DUST in general is not actually that complex to anyone with an IQ above 100. Considering an AR takes an usual minimum of 10 hits to kill, spray&pray doesn't matter in this game. Its all about time-to-kill. Example time:
A player with 500HP is just standing there, just asking to be shot.
Standard AR. 50m. No. headshots. No mods. Will cause the 500HP of damage in 1.2 seconds. [15 bullets] (minimum) (This also is only if the player doesn't catch on to the fact that they are being shot and doesn't decide to run away and hide AND every shot you just fired connects.)
Standard SCR. 50M. No mods. 1 charged shot, followed by follow up shots will cause 500HP of damage in .55 seconds[best I can figure that a charge takes from what I've tested thus far] (minimum) Because 1 charged shot to the body will be a one hit kill, and the player won't even know what hit them.
Now, like any weapon in any game, its as only good as the player using it. Some weapons will always be easier to use than others. But more, and more, people are using SCRs... why? If its so balanced, what's the point of using it as opposed to anything else? |

Do you not understand the inherent advantage of an anti shield weapon right now? When 60% of a players eHP is shield and the scrambler hits for 20% extra against them shield tanking is such a liability. It may partially be your skill, but the charged shot plus the weak tank of infantry is the problem. The logical next step is armor tanking assaults finally possibly with their own ranges weapons like the TAC ar or MD. |

this is the penalty for overheating your weapon. the same thing happens with the HMG and i assume the laser rifle. |

You have to understand...balance isn't the fundamental weapon, skinned a little bit different making different sounds and flashes but doing the same basic damage over time.
Balance in DUST works differently. You trade off a little bit of one advantage for another advantage in another category. One thing that people don't really notice is that when it comes to fitting, depending on how you calculate, the scrambler rifle costs about 15% to 25% more in fitting costs compared to the AR. This means that put on the same suit, something has to be compromised.
Also, the charge up time and heat amount, means that the scrambler simply cannot have the same sustained damage as an assault rifle at close ranges. With clever pressure, you could force a scrambler user to over heat and then he is extremely vulnerable for 6 seconds. If you realize this this becomes a huge weakness. I don't think that people understand this yet as I haven't had it used against me yet. Additionally, the overheating reduces sustained damage trading it for burst damage. This technical difference can be used in a variety of ways, but it basically can mean that you don't have to have the kind of tank that takes the same punishment as the AR based tanks because it can do the same damage in shorter time.
Also with a longer range, it can fight in a pocket of range that a basic AR user simply cannot compete in. |

You are bat **** ******* insane..... lay off the only balanced gun that CCP ever produced.
scrambler pistol and smg seem pretty well balanced |

Scrambler rifle is OP? Ok, now go charge into a base like it's an AR and tell me your results.
It's only good as a ranged weapon, and even then the AR can shoot at the same ranges. |

I spec'd into the plasma cannon and I went 6-2 in my first game and got a 1 hit kill therefore it is also OP.
Did I do it right TC? |

The art of troll is to not be so blindingly obvious. As the sad fact is the other option to this thread is that you are an person who can't be wrong and ignores any facts that don't support his arguments even if he finds those facts for himself.
Fun fact look into political science as their is huge work on this aspect of the human mind. So they could work out why people voted the way they did even if the facts pointed the other way |

I usually do to with most SCR encounters.. but them guys who got the quick steady aim for a charge head shot with follow up quick hits will still own an armor suit hehe. I'd say I have only ran into 3 guys who are very deadly with it so far |
