The structure definitely looks of Amarrian design to me, and the large glowing holes kind of scream jump gate or perhaps a docking station.
Really curious as to what the structure really is and if it will have any actual role in the future map. |

CCP Logibro said in the IRC that is is sort of like a space highway.
Also CCP LogicLoop said they haven't begun building any Amarr outposts yet, but this definitely looks like Amarr tech. So it's either a locked structure which is always there like that tower near C on Manus Peak, something out in the red zone like those city skylines we sometimes see, or an entire map with no SI like Ashland and Line Harvest, though CCP has stated they want to move away from that. |

See, that is what confused me. It was stated that they have not started working on any Amarr outposts, yet that structure is screaming Amarr. |

This feels like a mix between Caldarian and Amarrian design. The sharp angles of the towers look Caldari, while the rounded frames look Amarr. |

Also, it looks pretty sinister yet strangely aesthetic which is usually the Amarrian's cup of tea. |

Well a "jump" gate is entirely unlikely on land. Logistically it doesn't make any real sense. You would just end up getting lots of people killed.
Now as some kind of land-based acceleration gate, it makes slightly more sense. Could be something that larger atmospheric craft use to get around as part of a network. |

a jump gate connects two points in space, correct? setting these up from a corp's home world to an active front(say, an opponents world you want to capture) could significantly reduce cost from travel lost clones. so it could be a planetary installation with an eye to troop movement.
though, an acceleration gate could prove interesting as it may just herald larger maps.
or, it could just be more useless visual fluff/another sniper tower for fatties with forges/actual snipers. |

You're not in space. You're on land. And while land is in space, land spins. If it were a jumpgate, it would send you a great distance at in whatever direction the planet decided to point it to at the time. Can't say it would be a very good jumpgate.
And I'm not sure any of us still scream anymore. I think the fear of death gets a little old after the first thousand clones. |

Now I feel about silly assuming it is a jump gate in hindsight. It makes far more sense that it may be an acceleration gate or perhaps a highway system - you can see up to three more in the background so perhaps a "road" in the sky? |
