I've made a similar request for this to be implemented, even so far as to replace uplinks as 2-way teleporters.
Right now, especially in PC battles where uplink spam is absolutely insane, deaths mean almost nothing because as soon as you kill someone they're back in the same spot 3 seconds later on an uplink. Reinforcements should not be allowed to be back so damn soon. Death should be meaningful. By forcing players to actually teleport into the battle from a designated spawn zone, it would vastly improve the strategic aspects of the game. |

KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf wrote:Jump link installations What is it: A set of two quantumly entangled wormhole generator installation that allow infantry and vehicles passing through to teleport between the two, and also allows infantry to teleport to any friendly drop uplink currently deployed. Because they are a quantumly entangled set, hacking one means you hacked both. Drop uplinks are wormhole technology according to the description, so it stands to reason that a wormhole installation would be able to connect with them. How it would work: Go into the swirling gate of light at jump link installation A, and you will see what appears to be a spawn screen. You can select between any active drop uplink on your team, AND jump link installation B. Teleporting to the selected location should be instant.
Perhaps special variants of drop uplinks only will be compatible.
It should be noted that vehicles can only travel between the 2 jump link installations, and do not have the option of choosing a drop uplink as an exit. You CANNOT travel back from a uplink to a jump link installation, you can only travel from jump link to a drop uplink (or the next jump link).
To mitigate camping of the the jump link installations by enemies, teleported players should have the temporary spawn cloak, and should spawn a certain distance from the gate in a randomized direction.
Why: The tactical value of teleportation is pretty obvious. The team which controls it will be able to cover more ground, and basically have a great shortcut. It would add a new dimension of usefulness to drop uplinks. Also, it would be AWESOME. Advantages over just suicide: Respawn NOT instant, while this is
Fitting is destroyed when one dies, fittings are NOT destroyed when one uses the jump link installations.
The idea I propose allows the vehicle to come out at the other jump link installation, suicide does not transport vehicles.
One jump link installation connects the path to the next one, and jump uplinks are not accessible as spawn points. This means being alive gives you a major tactical advantage in travel since you can travel between points that you cannot just respawn at.
To summarize, do it, its awesome.

If this does get added, wonder if other things besides infantry and vehicles could go through it. If a vehicle was being followed by swarm missiles, would they go into the installation and come out? Would people be able to snipe each other though the gate? |

I very much like this idea but a few tweaks could be made prehaps.
instead of entangled pairs why not allow any gate to connect to each other, this would be controlled by the battlefield commanderyou can choose which direction you exit etc.
Momentum should be preserved travelling through the gate allows smash and grab tactics or a tank rolling through the gate rather lazily. |

This would be the equivalent of having the current gazillion jump bridges in EvE that we have now. It would make it a cinch to defend an area since you could just teleport back and forth between installations. Also, doesn't Halo have something like this? I remember something like this on Halo the few times I played it on various friends Microsuck Box |

That would be the final nail in the vehicular transport coffin. Nobody's going to take a taxi when they can teleport. Pull the dropship and replace it with a real gunship with a medium turret.
You might as well go back to the maps with objectives within 100m of each other because you are effectively removing the intervening space.
Each team will have a gate set up next to the ground spawn and any objective they control so they can get anywhere from anywhere. |

Not very map would have them. If the map is big enough then vehicles will still very much have a role. Would benefit vehicles as well. Respawning is functionally teleportation anyway, just with an ISK cost from destroyed fit. |
