Even if I got a respec I would probably still go back into proto cal logi. I'm fine with the changes and im fine with my suit choice. I still think logis need a lot of work on their class design since proto equipment is next to impossible to fit unless you want to wear all advanced modules.
but you can't tell someone to htfu and grind 2.47 million SP cause CCP decided on a whim to fundamentally change the design of suits all over the place.
If there was no active SP it would be completely different, but not offering people a means of getting out of suits that they change so drastically is nullifying WEEKS of people's play time. Most of us are fine with grinding, but I am not happy with CCP making me feel like my time is being completely wasted with every choice I make from ACTIVE sp that I have to spend actual in game time accrueing.
(also we don't need a respec for 1.3 but if this rumored 'huge change' that is coming out in 1.4 happens then we should at least have a dropsuit command tree refund) This change is nowhere near as drastic as you make out and has hardly broken the suit so much anyone 'needs' to spec out of it. If you really want to run calogi assault-style, you still can, you'll just have a little less tank.
Besides, for anyone who doesn't stand still in a big clearing during a firefight shorter shield recharge delay is more helpful than extra shield tank anyway.
And the incoming change to logi bonuses in 1.4 sounds like it will only make them better; so if you play logi, there'll be no 'need' to change suits. Again, you're being at least a little melodramatic - it doesn't sound like a 'huge change' at all; it sounds like a sensible role specific bonus that will improve the game for those who play the role.
pierce Hawkeye wrote:the first suit i skilled into was the caldari logi however i did not know that people considered it op and am aswell disapointed with the change. The bonus change isn't a bad thing at all. It's not like you can't use shield extenders anymore and they're suddenly useless. |

Surely there are people who specced into Callogi who will find that the suit is no longer suited to their playstyle. More to the point a no respec policy makes only sense when CCP isnt making rapid changes to the weapons and suits balance at a rapid pace. If the game was stable for years on end and something new was introduced or a tweak was made sure that would make sense but otherwise no there is no reason to deny people respecs.
At the very least people ought to get a refund out of the logi suit and not the racial frame itself. Personally id say the whole dropsuit frame should be refunded but other areas iike weapons and modules shouldnt be done. Moreover these arent the final changes to the suit either, they said that these bonuses are in place because the real bonuses that they want arent on the frames because of a technical hurdle that means players are playing on an unfinished archetype. To punish players who spec into under a certain set of parameters and to then completely change those parameters and tell them they are stuck with them is completely counterproductive.
It will only prevent anyone from trying any new items on the assumption that if its a bust then they are stuck with them which leads to a drop in player statistics for those items and feedback which in turn leads to unbalanced item staying in the game far longer then they would if people utilize them.
In an ideal world the devs would have the items fully balanced on initial iteration. Keep in mind there is a ton of content still planned to be added to which players would like to have access to.
This however is the biggest point to be made is that few if anyone would care about respecs if there were no SP cap, if earning SP was at a rate similar to 3x SP events people wouldnt care about the balance changes because they could rectify it in short order.
So the solution is simple either give respecs or get rid of the cap during the iterative and balancing phase of this game, once the bulk of the content is released and balanced then CCP can stick to the decisions matter mantra all they want, until then its a garbage policy.
For the record i run Gallente Logi and a host of proto weapons so i dont want nor need a respec, that and i dont play this game but for the people who still do id at least like to see them not constantly get screwed over at every turn, or perhaps its better this way it will only kill of the game faster which allows me to come in here and boast with smug satisfaction. There wont be no refunds, those who speced into caldari logi knew the nerf would come.Just like those who invested all their sp into flaylock,,,you think they should also get a refund after it get nerf?Get rid of cap?that was funny, you imagine how many **** buckets would get full? Saving this for later so I can laugh at all the people who dont get there is going to be respec coming, they are inevitable given the content additions and the full litanty of rebalancing of weapons and suits coming. And the comment about the shiit buckets, just lol you're one of those scrubs that thinks that continued SP accrual matters in this game. Time and time again 10-15M, hell 20M is the most anyone needs to play this game competitively. Beyond this is window dressing. So yes tell yourself people will continue to grind away because so many people are logging on to cap every week just like they were in the beginning right? No wait they dont even log on perhaps its becaue they dont like playing the game and they have the amount of SP they wanted to build the character they desired. Hmm no thats too obvious that couldnt be the reason Never said there will never be a respec, what i said was there wont be no refund for caldari logi.As for the skill cap,it is still needed, dont think most players have 15-20mil sp,if you take away the cap,it will unbalance the game even more AND dont forget those **** bukets, imagine the mess it would make? |

Things may remain OP for months or in some cases years and all the tears in the world won't save it from the eventual nerf and likely over-nerf. Yet look at their history for refunding skills for balance changes. None. In the end they played a game which by your reasoning they knew they would lose yet chose to ride the high while it lasted.
We don't demonize their FOTM chasing, we demonize their requests for respecs in the wake of the inevitable.
With all due respect you are asking for players to know about CCP's history of game development changes from a PC title to play a PS3 game? You are also asking that we decide by consensus what item(s) are unbalanced and then as a whole decide not to spec those items because CCP may nerf them later? I can find a nerf thread for anything and everything on this forum.
This to me seems to make a game that says "Your choices matter unless CCP decides they don't really".
The fact is this whole fiasco is a developer issue, not a player one and the responsibility and blame goes on their shoulders.
Let me very clear I do not want a respec at the drop of a hat every time something changes or is added. I'm not even an advocate for Aurum respecs. I do believe though that once this suit rebalance is complete that players deserve the chance to review those changes and were those changes did not match the players original spec choice that they have a ability to reconfigure. |
