An artificial distinction-- it is difficult to have one without the other.
Interestingly, the Caldari, also, often go on about "freedom." They just mean it in a more historically traditional manner: freedom of our peoples from foreign intervention.

That's kind of like I was thinking but more around the lines of free to be ruled instead of governed. Freedom isn't a way of thinking because everything is created free and those freedoms are taken away. By default all things want prosperity and stability, we just bring those things to them in a better way. We have our problems but they are not that bad. |

First off, I never said you were a merc, just that if you chose this life, I'd be happy to show you the ropes. Secondly, your religious dogma and your Empress (who broke your own sacred laws, if rumors are true) do not impress me. Pay me enough, and I will fight for you. If your enemies pay me more next battle, I will fight for them. The only allegiance I have, as I said before, is to my corporation and it's allies. |

I guess, my entire argument is that the Caldari had the chance to wipe our militia out and take our space but they folded and now are not looking so hot. The reason for this comes from the brainwashing they receive, it is hard for me to explain. Freedoms stimulate creativity and passion for discovery and we think differently. The closest word I have for it is arrogance. It's why winners win and losers fall back and then repeat only to lose. Goes back to my whole "the rich get richer" thing and the reason it hurts is because it's true. Listen, I've been up mining and popping rats for about 20 hours so I am going to get some rest. Feel free to let me know how you think I am wrong or whatever someone else tells you to think or say. I'm easy like my sister so just talk away and when I'm done winning I'll get back to you.

We try to explain this to you, but you keep your eyes closed, ignoring that arguments we are putting up and even if you admit that we are correct on one thing, you start arguing on an entirely different point. You obviously are far beyond reasoning, so I'm not going to even try anymore. Enjoy your false sense of pride and accomplishment, you have achieved nothing. |

Some people speak of their brand of freedom as if it is the only way of life worth living. My freedom comes from knowing what I need to do to provide for those I serve with. I live and fight for those who stand shoulder to shoulder with me as we have a basic cause. And that is to win. Some want to win for The State. Some want to win for the glory, others money. Me, I live for my brothers and sisters in arms. I don't care where they come from. Can you say the same? You who speak hatred of a people for the way they choose to live? Yes, we Caldari choose our way of life. Which is why we split from your "freedom". Come and show us all how forcing your brand of freedom is more righteous and a better way of life, even though we've already shown you what we think of your way of life by exercising our freedom. |

That is an interestingly Caldari attitude, soldier. If you actually believe in individualism, it should not be possible for an entire nation to wrong you.
You also seem to suggest that your grudge against the State is personal rather than political, which seems to fly in the face of some of your rhetoric. Do you care to clarify? |

Some Intaki fought for the State in the original Caldari/Gallente War. Some of these ended up joining Mordu's Legion. Others live in the State as a client state to the Caldari-- just like we Achura do.
For the record, soldier, anybody can become a full Caldari citizen by becoming culturally Caldari. The Caldari are highly protective of their culture; that's sort of the point of the State. The rest of us are welcome there so long as we're willing to govern ourselves and live apart.
If you're holding the State responsible for the actions of a few shameful, Dragonaur-inspired idiots who, I might point out, revolted against the State, you'll have little reason to argue if we hold the Gallente responsible for the actions of the U-Nats and similar fools.
Quote:"Federation forces in the Intaki system fell to the State Protectorate, ceding occupancy to the Caldari state. Unrest and violence broke out in places on the Intaki homeworld, divided between pro-Federation, pro-State and Intaki secessionist factions."
Yes, I remember. Quite unfortunate-- but how is this the fault of the Caldari? The Federation agreed to a CONCORD-mediated war that left Intaki in the war zone. You'll note it's not the Caldari rioting in the streets in this historical snippet. Neither, in fact, is it even all pro-State versus pro-Federal.
Quote:"As with all other Caldari-occupied systems, Intaki was barred from voting in the Gallente presidential elections."
Again, how precisely is a Federal action the State's fault? The Federation loses control of the Intaki system in a war, so you blame the people they were fighting? A bit partisan, are you not, soldier?
Quote:These are just two reasons, there are plenty more.
Please continue. And then perhaps we can trot out our own grievances, and we can see whether they match. The more you make us suffer for all the suffering we have caused you, the more reason you give us to make you suffer for all the suffering you have caused us.
There is always reason to fight, soldier. I suppose we'll get to see, eventually, whether pseudo-immortals like us still have any reason to want peace. |

What, you mean the Gallentean systems in the Emyprean War?
Something to get clear, soldier: the Caldari didn't particularly want that war. They wanted Caldari Prime, and, Tibus Heth being Tibus Heth, Tibus Heth took it on behalf of the State. It's arguably the most popular thing he ever did.
The Federation, noticing that it was in a bit of a bind on that front, what with the orbiting doomsday device (a situation that has resolved only recently), conceded that Caldari Prime was lost-- and declared war elsewhere in essentially the same breath.
We're not at war because the State wants to expand its domain over Intaki or any other frontier world, soldier. We're at war because the Federation couldn't stand losing the Caldari homeworld like that (that is, with hardly a shot fired) and insisted on making the State pay in blood. |

"We will not permit you to tell us how to be Caldari , and so you leave us with no choice." GÇöExcerpt from the Caldari Proclamation of Secession. CE 23154.11.22
Your government tried to change us; change our traditions. Who are they to do so?
"Caldari Prime burns, those left behind are choking on the dust and ash that fills the air, and you demand our surrender? Is this a joke? You have only hardened our resolve. Every drop of blood you have taken from us will be repaid -- with interest." GÇöCEP response to Federation demands for unconditional surrender after initial bombardment of Caldari Prime. CE 23155.1.18
You bombarded our planet from orbit; while there were millions of civilians still on the planet, afterwards you demanded an unconditional surrender from the State. You call that just?
We Caldari did our best to minimize the civilian casualties, unlike you .
All we wanted was to retain our cultural identity and autonomy.
You will find me on the front-lines, slaughtering Gallentean Military forces and civilians. Everywhere. I. Go.
