This post is to garner much needed support for the idea.

It's not a bad idea really. CCP say its so that casual players have a similar progression rate to hardcore players but I think it's so that a player won't burn through the skills too fast and get bored. In terms of fairness it's no different from playing against someone that has played for 3 months longer than you.
TBH it doesn't bother me either way though. The cap is high enough that you don't lose out too much really. |

I think 10 mill might be a bit much and potentially detract from booster sales. I know personally at 13mill I no longer worry about buying boosters.

There's a couple issues with that though. Mostly that the SP required fully skill each of the items you mentioned could vary greatly. Not a set # or amount of SP which would add a whole new level of difficulty to coding such a system.
Besides I don't believe you need to reach prototype level for everything relative to a certain role just to get a feel for it and see if that's how you want to continue. |

Out of town for a week? That's fine... your bonus SP just keeps accruing on a daily basis for when you can come back to the grind.
You could make the rolling cap A) universal based on game release date / earliest SP opportunities or B) make it based on your character's birthdate. Each has its benefits / drawbacks. |

what about when you start a char you get to chose a role i.e. heavies. then when you first start a match this heavy is full spec to a point. |

You could spec out in many directions with different alts and probably never hit a cap in any week that you would care about.
The problem is the skill cliff that CCP thinking they would be all edgy and different by creating but it just formed a gulf between rusted on bitter vets and pub stomped newbies.

I like this idea. I think 5-7 million would be a good place to place the cap. It's terribly boring not feeling like you're making any progression in a game that seems only partially 'finished', despite being a 'full release'. I'm all for grinding but when the cap is hit, I don't feel as if I'm making any significant progress despite enjoying what options I currently have in the game.
I'd probably still buy boosters, just to help me get there faster, but it would definitely encourage people to play more and more often once they were able to get a taste of what having decent gear is like and feeling as if they were getting somewhere. Personally, I'm already burned out and feel like I've had a taste of what the game has to offer. I hate feeling as if I have to resort to making alts in order to attain that sense of reward my brain has been hardwired for from grinding.

i'm a new player and sp cap is bs. I quit 5 other pc games cuz I like the gameplay, bought my first aug only to learn of weekly cap. Fkn bs. what kind of game producer limits play from its payees? I would pump hundreds into this game, as I have dozens of other free-to-play games. but now I learn it is cap'd? wtf? I mean, really, what kind of psychology limits you? like im going to buy more active boosters when I figured out they suck 4-5 days into it? ccp? do you even care? post a response if you even do, then I might take you serious... bet 50 aur they don't.... |

Since the gap between new comers and veterans has been growing the playerbase is just collapsing.
If the proto jump wasn't as hard(sp sink-like) and all weapons and equipment of this level get the true upper hand, this kind of measure wouldn't be necessary. |

8 million. Why? I did really good with 8 million on the uprising respec. If you remove the cap any higher an every battle will be like a PC battle there will be no variation an no reward to these of us that worked so hard an spent money on boosters to be ahead, which essentially means we wasted our money.

This is the worst of all the reasons on why there should an SP cap. Boosters should continue to function by raising the SP gain or raising the limit at which the cap is re-inforced.
Frankly the SP cap should be removed entirely there isnt any legitimate reason to have it and no sorry no lifing and maxxing out the SP tree is not a good enough reason to have a Cap in place, it would still take years and provide no real and significant advantage for doing so. |

2.5 mil newbie here, and I do not approve. Two reasons:
1) The reason for the skill cap applies to me too, just because I am new to the game does not mean I want to be compelled to spend even more time on it than I already do. The cap is one of the features which creates goodwill for the game from me. I know it's my own choice in the end, but a game that essentially says "nope, that's enough for this week..." (without offering me the option to pay to circumvent it...) that's classy.
2) Suddenly introducing the cap while the player has been playing for a while will feel harsh, if not even deceitful. Having it from the start means that players will never get used to not having it. I started playing during the triple SP week, and even that was a bit of a harsh transition when it ended. But this would be 100 times worse.
I really think it's fine as it is (and currently I enjoy the game enough to cap in two days :X). I would benefit immensely from this change, but I don't think it would be right. |

I say keep the cap.
I like that as someone who doesn't have time to hardcore grind I don't feel disadvantaged because kids (and some adults) that can play for 40 hours per week have gazillions of SP.
There are people here with 3 times more SP than me. I'll never catch up to them but it doesn't bother me because I know, thanks to the cap, that they're not going to get further ahead. |

You are not going through what we did. We were fighting with 2.4m SP when EVERYONE had 2.4m SP. To ask you to step into a match against my 15m sp ... is unfair. If our roles were reversed I would most likely not stick it out.

8mil. I do well with what I have and roll with my advanced gear most of the time. I usually only bring out a proto fit if I see alot of enemy ones. Considering just getting your first proto suit is approximately 2.3mil, the cap should be higher till a certain point. Of course having all the passive skills associated with your gear I'm sure is the main thing. Two soldiers meet wearing the exact same gear. Skill aside the guy with lvl 5 shield/armor upgrades, proficiency, capacity ect...will have a noticeable advantage. The passive skills are still expensive and will take anyone a while to have. Increasing the cap may mean that more players stay to grind more creating a bigger mid powered player base. I know the big warlocks wearing black want something more powerful than unorganized smurfs to stomp. New players in black would be alot more of a challenge in any setting. |
