I posted this in the feedback section:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1068096#post1068096
This post is to garner much needed support for the idea.
For purpose of disclosure I have 19.5 Million SP, the only stake I have in this is I want to keep the game alive and competitive. |

It's not a bad idea really. CCP say its so that casual players have a similar progression rate to hardcore players but I think it's so that a player won't burn through the skills too fast and get bored. In terms of fairness it's no different from playing against someone that has played for 3 months longer than you.
TBH it doesn't bother me either way though. The cap is high enough that you don't lose out too much really. |

I had a similar idea myself a few weeks ago, https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1033876#post1033876
I think 10 mill might be a bit much and potentially detract from booster sales. I know personally at 13mill I no longer worry about buying boosters.
However something needs to be done for NPE. |

i really think that it should be uncap until you can fully spec out one class.
One weapon One sidearm
one equipment one suit
all spec before cap, something like that. |

There's a couple issues with that though. Mostly that the SP required fully skill each of the items you mentioned could vary greatly. Not a set # or amount of SP which would add a whole new level of difficulty to coding such a system.
Besides I don't believe you need to reach prototype level for everything relative to a certain role just to get a feel for it and see if that's how you want to continue. |

i agree completely. they should remove the cap for new players until a certain number is reached or give them a larger cap, maybe 350k a week?. i love this game and i want to see it succeed. |

Out of town for a week? That's fine... your bonus SP just keeps accruing on a daily basis for when you can come back to the grind.
You could make the rolling cap A) universal based on game release date / earliest SP opportunities or B) make it based on your character's birthdate. Each has its benefits / drawbacks. |

what about when you start a char you get to chose a role i.e. heavies. then when you first start a match this heavy is full spec to a point. |

Sounds allright to me. Keeps new players keep playing and after a month of hardcore grinding they would actually be a usefull addition to most corps. Instead of running around in militia stuff for the first 3 weeks and getting murdered over and over again by players who have 10 mil sp+.
Btw i got 16.6 mil SP. |

You could spec out in many directions with different alts and probably never hit a cap in any week that you would care about.
The problem is the skill cliff that CCP thinking they would be all edgy and different by creating but it just formed a gulf between rusted on bitter vets and pub stomped newbies.

10.3 mil sp here. I think that the threshold should be around 2-3 mil SP, where the player has enough SP to field a decent fit. Also I think academy battles should hold players up until thy hit 2 mil SP, or possibly 100k WP. |

I like this idea. I think 5-7 million would be a good place to place the cap. It's terribly boring not feeling like you're making any progression in a game that seems only partially 'finished', despite being a 'full release'. I'm all for grinding but when the cap is hit, I don't feel as if I'm making any significant progress despite enjoying what options I currently have in the game.
I'd probably still buy boosters, just to help me get there faster, but it would definitely encourage people to play more and more often once they were able to get a taste of what having decent gear is like and feeling as if they were getting somewhere. Personally, I'm already burned out and feel like I've had a taste of what the game has to offer. I hate feeling as if I have to resort to making alts in order to attain that sense of reward my brain has been hardwired for from grinding.

i'm a new player and sp cap is bs. I quit 5 other pc games cuz I like the gameplay, bought my first aug only to learn of weekly cap. Fkn bs. what kind of game producer limits play from its payees? I would pump hundreds into this game, as I have dozens of other free-to-play games. but now I learn it is cap'd? wtf? I mean, really, what kind of psychology limits you? like im going to buy more active boosters when I figured out they suck 4-5 days into it? ccp? do you even care? post a response if you even do, then I might take you serious... bet 50 aur they don't.... |
