just out of curiosity, how much is you 'go-to' heavy suit costing you? i run a 'Dren' Sentinel (bought the Elite pack because of it), with the MH-82 and it is running me close to 20K per suit. the top end suit is easily in excess of 100k per suit.
considering the Heavy lass dies so much on average, it is not financially viable to run this without a dedicated Logi friend to Rep you. |

Tired of being a slow fatty mc fat fat heavy?
Try complex Kinetic catalyzers today! In all honesty, even as a fatty it is a big noticeable increase in sprint speeds, gets you out of those hot areas. However without any situational awareness you will die anyway.
Also Work on your shields regen/regulator, it's the only protection you have against explosion spamming scrubs.

My favorite suit to run in pubs was 2x shld rechargers, 2x shld regulators and 1x repairer. Only 1k hp and CPU was a bit of a problem, but it all came back so fast :) That's what I was running but I apparently forgot to take my shield regulator skill to 5 and got locked out of my complex mods once the skill was fixed. My bad.
I skip the rep when I'm with a descent squad, it's insane how fast your shields come back. Also, shield energizers are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than rechargers. Like....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better |

Himiko Kuronaga wrote:Armor plated heavies can not avoid grenades thrown at them, especially if cooked. Movement simply does not permit it. Yet the sentinel especially is supposed to be played this way, for the most part.
Now I want you to think about this for a moment. Locus grenades get a bonus to damage against armor, rendering all that extra HP worthless. And we cannot avoid them. AND everyone can carry them.
So what this means is that, by default, everyone has access to a double-hard counter against proper armor tanked heavies which cannot be avoided in any way shape or form. The only way to avoid it is to not use it, ever.
Our hard-counter to infantry, the HMG, can be outrun, outranged, and outstrafed. The proper counter to shields, the flux grenade, can be outrun as well. Every "counter" in this game can still be outmaneuvered if you are skilled enough, except for the counters that the heavy has to deal with because he simply cannot maneuver. When the Heavy faces a counter, he has already lost unless there is major incompetence going on with his opponent.
The only fair answers to this are either an extreme HP buff across the board or better movement.
Sentinel suit by default is a terrible, HMG is fine, and Flux has a huge explosion radius. |
