Enough within a single flay magazine to make my shields hurt real bad. Only got a glance at my health before I got completely annihilated, was a bit busy trying to survive from lolOP flaylock damage.
Glad you admit (or at least don't deny) that the flaylock is OP. That is a step in the right direction for your FA (flaylocks anonymous) recovery.

Based on your special maths, would 670 armor have been taken out by a flay magazine?
Hmm, food for thought...

Yes, yes it would have.
167 is only what it does shields... armor isn't so lucky.
Edit: I was joking about shields being OP though BTW |

just saw a Scout with dual Flaylocks and 3 Complex Extender and Ferroscale Plates all over (had over 400 shields and over 200 armor in a Minmatar suit), needless to say he went 30-0. I died 10 times that match, 9 were from that guy's Flaylocks (I dodged 3 of them, but I didn't realize he had a second Core Flaylock), the 10th was from a Sniper Rifle, ...while trying to avoid the Flaylock |

Actually I think he was wearing a scout suit and likely using Kb/m, I could not keep up with his strafes and almost non-existent hitbox to land a decent shot.
Calogi i-win suit says hello with 3 out of 4 low slots being used for CPU/PG enhancement in order to carry halfway decent gear, oh and the 4th slot used for catalyzer in order to run as fast as a default assault but had to pay about a million SP for it |

He had over 500 shields? Orly?
I have 333 shields in a prototype minmatar scout.
I run 3x Complex Shields. Guess how many High slots a Minmatar proto scout has. If you guess three you would be correct. Now, I have my Shield Upgrades at level 3, so even with level 5 it would be impossible to have over even 400 shields in a Minmatar scout.
To the Ferroscale plates. I have 76 armour on my Minmatar. Ferroscale complex plates only give 60 hp per mod. Minny scouts have 2 Low-Powered. That is 120. So, we're at 196 armour. Now* it is very possible for a Minny scout to have over 200 Armour (obviously, I just showed you. I have 1 or 2 levels in armour upgrades) The problem with the complex Ferroscale plates is that they take up a lot of PG/CPU and guess what a scout suit doesn't have a lot of. PG/CPU. Now he/she can fit that, but not with 3x Complex shields and Flaylocks.
I'm all for nerfing the Flaylocks, but please, lets not get too carried away with the exaggerations. |

Permanent slower movement speed is a killer. Strafing is key to victory.
And I would be curious to see how any other logi class, or assault, fits in terms of what they can carry and what their shields/armor and movement speeds are.
I mean heck, I get hit by a flux and all I have left is 99 armor (used to be 90 before I did some upgrades)...

Yeah...also, who could even have a pair of balls when:
- having +1000 EHP? - shield tanking in a game with more weapons that hurt armor than weapons that hurt shields? - driving around in a tank? - using any weapon with a longer range than their opponent's? - using any other dropsuit than scout? - [insert random reason to diss someone here]
In case you can't tell, I think using flaylocks or any of the above is just fine. I'm pretty sure neither of them affect ball count. They're all different ways of getting an edge over your opponents. The fact that you don't like one of them doesn't make it inferior. |

By the way: I play as a scout. If one flaylock round lands near me, splash or direct damage generally doesn't matter. I die anyway. Also, the splash radius makes it harder for me to use my primary strength - ie. speed/evasion - to survive.
Even so, I rarely die more than once or twice to a flaylock during any given pub match. Other weapons kill me way more often. Since the MD got un-nerfed, for example, I have way more trouble with that. (Mind you, I'm not asking for an MD nerf)
What I find, though, is that I have to adjust my tactics to suit the weapon I'm facing. If I face a flaylock, I do my best to get to higher ground. Killing someone with a flaylock is pretty damned hard when firing upwards. There's way less stuff to trigger the explosion, most of the time the shot just continues too far uphill or down the other side of whatever the target is standing on. Direct hits are of course still possible, but the randomness of these actually connecting make them of limited viability.
If you don't see your enemy approaching and they can land a series of flaylock shots on you before you can react, you're probably dead anyway, of course. But then again, which weapon is unable to take someone out when given time to aim and having the jump on the target? I've taken out people in this manner with both militia SMGs and militia scrambler pistols, many times. It doesn't take a lot of aiming skill. But you'd hardly call those two sidearms OP just because of that possible scenario. |

kind of makes sense I suppose, most dedicated flay lockers run 2 flaylocks since then the mods will effect both weapons.
but he's exchanging that bonus for having the larger aoe/larger clip of the mass driver for finishing targets off they really do compliment each other.
he could also use it as his main weapon in longer range engagements or fill the suppression fire role of the mass driver if need be, I like it. |
