Do you fly? Cuss if ya did you'd know that seeing ground units unless you are in firing range is next to impossible and by the time you see the blue glow the forge gunner has spotted you half a mile coming. You are also a bigger target and while you are jostling around trying to hit the forge gunner, the forge gunner or swarm missiles will hit you.
Personally if CCP got ride of the thing I'd be happy but if they want a powerful weapon like the forge gun fine, it just can't one shot anything period. |

In dust, a shaky ass weapon with no zoom, chargeup, and guaranteed slow movement on the character himself is enough to induce crying. How would you guys ever have survived in Quake when that railgun required no chargeup, had a zoom, and the user could literally be flying through the air killing people instantly like a god ninja.
This generation of gamers is full of failure.
The forge gun can one shot my ADS with impunity. How much does a forge gun cost to a dropship? If you can buy it in bundles then it coast less. If I lose a dropship it takes 4, 5, or 6 games to get it back. Then when I go into another match and I take off I get one shoted. All the those games and time straight down the toilet in less then a minute with no warning at all, it's lopsided.
And no one get into the whole "vehicle turrets have unlimited ammo" true but we also can't one shot infantry. |

Hate to correct you but the weapon does not glow anymore. Also from even 20 feet above a unit you can't tell what weapon they're holding or even frame size they're just little black dots.
You ARE however right about firing explosive shots. They can one shot fully fitted, max EHP, max SP, 1.5 million ISK Assault dropships
That's about as explosive to game balance as taco bell is to one's digestive system.
Also for all the other people out there who seem not to realize this yet, the glowing effect from FG was REMOVED. Thanks. |

Well Void, perhaps CCP will listen to you one day - and add in a Railgun with a limited capacity of ammo that takes seven seconds to charge, prevents you moving while it charges, and of course, deals 3500 damage per shot. Hmm?
I mean, proto breach is clearly designed for pure damage, while the assault is designed for DPS. All rails are designed for DPS.
EDIT: This railgun will also increase the size of your critical hit box. And make it so you can hit it from the front. |

2000 is kinda low. The Wiyrkomi breach does near 2800 base. Skills and damage mods, ~3000. |

Seriously though, anything that kills you is unfair. This is a game of advantages and finding something that is fun to play, for you. That weapon also freezes the operator in position for ~six seconds (-minus the bonus) while the gun charges. Which is a disadvantage if you can find the sucker.
CCP/Shanghai shortened the draw distance dramatically when Uprising (the release you are playing now) was dropped on 14 May. It was an optimization for graphics because of UnReal 4. It has cost many of us the loss of targeting information. They seem intent on keeping it that way. |

Our range goes out to 600m. BUT, our draw distance goes out to around 250m, well inside a forge gunner's max range. |

I'll say this, can you see and here a dropship coming and shoot at it before he see you, in fact is the dropship even facing you when unload a round into it? I highly doubt it. All dropship pilots can do when up against a forge gunner is to run because they have no make signature and we have to get with in HMG, assault rifle, and swarm launcher rand in order to even see any one. Not to mention how a dropship that is slow can speed up fast enough after getting hit to shake off the forge gun.
Face it the weapon is too strobe with no real drawbacks, if put into a one on one fight with Inflity the frogs gunner can just switch to there side arm |

I'm a FG user, and I don't think that's entirely correct, at least not for me. When I play, my priorities are vehicles > infantry > installations. If there are no vehicles, you bet I'm gonna be smashing people with it.
FGs are fine. Dropships just need a buff. If your tank gets taken out in 6 seconds like someone else said, you just have a weak tank. Good tanks take a while for me to destroy. LAVs still have a little too much HP imo, but the only ones that give me issues are LLAVs. In a game dominated by ARs, it's important to have other viable options. |

The only thing I'm advocating for is the removal of all forge guns that can one shot for over 2000, as a dropship pilot 2000 is all my.
Also you forge gunners are in heavy suits which means taking you out once we've found you is a chore and aiming in third person in a dropship is a chore as well.
If they keep forge guns the way they are they need to be as weak to kill as a light assault or assault suit. Dropships risk getting one shooted, so should forge gunners. |
