I'm sick and tired of stupid blueberries stealing my LAV! thankfully my SAGA is free (if you don't count the real 100$ I spent on the elite pack) but I think im starting to understand why there are so many useless tank pilots who wont leave the tank to help cap a point or some other task that requires them on foot... im guessing its because they don't want someone stealing their tank and getting it blown up.
seriously I cant tell you how many times I leave my vehicle for 2 seconds to do something useful for my team only to have some idiot come along and steal it, more than most the time getting it blown up.
so I ask of you CCP on behalf of all us vehicle operators give us some way to "lock our vehicles without having to recall them.
please +1 this if you feel the same
thanks. |

A few ideas that have been mentioned since I started playing in Jan. -only driver can drive. -only squad can drive -owner can lock/unlock -must have skills to pilot -remote explosive in driver seat with friendly fire -eject all passengers Button
Its been brought up alot, and I'm sure we will see the thread again.

well my intention is to keep this thread alive until we get some feedback from a dev which I believe will hinge on a large community response.
if done wrong it could have exploitive or game breaking results.
I propose a simple solution... give us the choice to lock it only to the owner through the squad command wheel... holding R2 and clicking R3 on an option to lock vehicle or unlock vehicle.
I cant imagine it would be too much of a coding nightmare to do this. |

I can understand were your coming from. i'm a pilot and i enjoy being in the air a lot. And whenever i land to get away from fire and i get out to fix my ship someone always get in the driver seat and attempts to fly off with it. Then they wind up blowing up before even getting in the air. Thats why now i recall my air ship or i drop down in an area with no one around.
PS (I drive the assault Dropship or the Recon Dropship). So they are not cheap. |

I might be able to get behind this, but only with a few of the following caveats:
Vehicles must be locked every time the owner exits. They default to locked only when first called in. If the driver dies, the vehicle unlocks automatically. Unattended locked vehicles can be hacked by both allies and the enemy team. A recall attempt will cancel any ally hacks in progress, and disallow any new ones while it's going on. Whether a vehicle is locked or not comes up in the information when the crosshairs pass over it.
It's rare that I touch a vehicle with anything other than an AV grenade or my spinal cord, but there does need to be a way for people other than the vehicle's owner to use unattended vehicles. I'm not in favor of just letting people take joyrides, but at the same time, there needs to be a bit of personal responsibility on the owner's end. |

Why would you get out of your tank... That's what infantry is for and has always been for sorry to criticize your play style. Why I do is I get a corp mate in my tank ride him to a enemy null cannon and have him hack it while I protect him. |

its not that the need rises often... but there are times when a tanker is of more use on foot(i.e. in a close quarters area where tank guns are useless but another merc isn't) its situational....thanks for posting! |

There have been multiple times where I've taken a LAV during a match to get somewhere quickly, and I don't particularly mean right off the bat when the match starts... more or less when a blueberry happens to be capping an objective, or just got out of their LAV to set up at a sniping position. The latter is more understanding than the former, due to the fact I'm helping my fellow sniper by removing a potential signal to the enemy. The former... is just down right horrible. |

this thread will not die without dev feedback!
as a member of the new eden community for over a year paying a monthly sub in eve and spending somewhere around 5 or 6 hundred dollars on dust ( I know im sick) I feel somewhat entitled to a dev response for my ongoing support of their wonderful games. I have never asked for much of anything from them thus far and I feel extremely passionate on this topic.
I know im not alone in my financial support of ccp, so on behalf of the community who feels strongly on this topic I respectfully request a dev's insight into this matter.
keep those plus 1s coming! make our voice heard!

I have been playing a bit of planetside 2 lately, and they have a vehicle lock system in place, which should pretty much just be copied and applied to dust.
Whoever calls in the vehicle can set it so that anybody can get in, only squad can get in, and nobody can get in, at the tap of a button.

Still nothing from CCP on this though, so it must be such a low priority that you should not hold your breath for it.

this is why we need to be unified and very loud about our concerns. let them know they may be shooting themselves in the foot by ignoring us. show them that the community who plays the game feels the issue is of great importance the squeaky wheel gets the grease after all. |

Vehicle drivers are a small percentage of total users. That number is likely declining.
You don't focus dev efforts on something that only a small part of the userbase will appreciate, and that will make some part of your majority potentially mad.
Seemingly, all dev effort is focused on making the game beter for Caldari assaults and logis, everyone else can suck it. |

And so, you demonstrate the old saying: "if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem". Actually in this case, YOU ARE the problem. I don't have to anymore, but originally, I paid real world money to upgrade my turrets and vehicles.
I have specific missions that I use them for. Many times as a portable turrets. I will have the site pointed for a kill shot and all of a sudden, my LAV is moving, I can't make the shot, and since I know the intentions of the person who jumped in it is 99% of the time going to use it as a murder taxi and get it destroyed, I have to jump off and just let it roll off to destruction, lest I lose my proto suit and equipment too. It's real world money being stolen by thieves, plain and simple. It's not humorous. It's not "o.k.". It's unethical and theft.
Just because it offers the words "press circle to enter vehicle" It's not saying that is what you should do, just how to do it. It's not an invite. |

until CCP gives us our keys one way I have found to deal with vehicle thieves is to harass them for the rest of the match and if I feel really strongly matches I find myself teamed up with them in the future.... such as constantly running into them with my LAV letting the enemy kill them and... if they get in my vehicle.... driving them to their death either by red line or impact and being that most of the time im running full bp gear and a bp vehicle I find solace in the idea that they are losing isk every time I do this. |

This is the best idea ever. As a tank driver, I never call in my Sica (yes, Sica) unless I have a couple of squadmates to get in it after I do, that way, I can't lose it. The worst is when I'm squad leader, (which I'm not, if I'm tanking, usually) and I need to call down an orbital. Or if I have to go AFK. Either way, I just drive somewhere (relatively) safe and do what I need to do. If I see a blueberry, though, I don't want you in my tank. Please, get out, or make yourself useful. One of the two. Also, I do not get out, even if 'm surrounded, I run and try to get my stuff back up. I'm telling you, if I see a tank on an objective, I'm staying away. Most others are the same way. |

Good idea but I think the ability for an awoxer to come and ruin your day should still be available. Either only timed locking, or no locking available in PC but only your squad can drive in public matches. Theft and sneaky **** is a big thing in the eve-dust universe and i don't thing that should be taken away.
Or just accept that in a public match you shouldn't bring out the big guns you're not prepared to loose (Don't get me wrong, i like the idea in general but that's what CCP's opinion probably is) |

(I own my own Logi LAV so I can drive pretty well) And so, you demonstrate the old saying: "if you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem".
I use it as a murder taxi, and RARELY get it killed ( Unless you be a **** about it).
If you want to twist my words again you could say I'm teaching the driver. Teaching them to be more careful, and be more cautious about who is in your vehicle.
I only steal LAVs. HAVs are a no-no.

yeahtheaft and sneaky shlt is a big thin g in eve but even in eve u still need the skill to fly what u steal so at the bare minimum u shod have to at least have the skill to drive/pilot the vehicle away to an area of your choosing, but i think that the driver seat needs a lock option so only the person who called it in ca drive it if he wants to lock it |

I agree on the sneaky point... but sneakiness should have counter measures... for instance, giving us the power to lock our vehicles doesn't mean we will always remember to do it... |

thanks. yet another vehicle lock thread and this time it isnt me i stopped asking for this because i get banned. but i still love 2-6 mill a day to lavs being stolen. im proto logi av and i try to use my lav to get me between defending my team against vehicles and healing them. i lose more isk to this than i do to anything else |

This.
when I kill a red and take his vehicle, I want to actually take it. As in it gets added to my assets when I recall it. It's one of those little things that would go a long way to adding more depth to the game.
As for locks, I think we should have a series of permissions that we can toggle for each fit. There should be different layers like self only, squad, team, corp, alliance, and open. You would turn on one or more of these options and only people that fall into those categories to get in your vehicle, with open being that anyone can get in. Also when/if faction standings get put in let us set a certain standing with a specific faction as a limiter. So I could set it to where only people with a standing of 3.0 or higher with the Angel Cartel can get in my dropship, or you need -5.0 or lower with Amarr to get in my tank. |

A very simple way to solve this would be to implement a "lock/unlock vehicle" feature similar to how the "flip vehicle", "enter vehicle", and "recall vehicle" work. Simply add a "lock/unlock vehicle" option assigned to the triangle button when approaching your vehicle.
The option to lock/unlock would only be available to the vehicle owner. (Player who originally qued or hacked the vehicle)
You would still be able to hack a locked enemy vehicle. Vehicle would become unlocked after hacking.
The option to lock vehicle would only be available for 15 seconds after exiting a vehicle.
Once a vehicle is locked no one can enter the vehicle or switch seats, however a player may still exit the vehicle.
Once a vehicle is locked it would no longer explode if left unattended. This way a player may still return to the vehicle after completion of a particularly lengthy engagement.
Locked vehicles could still take damage from AV weapons.
As a side note implementation of this would also provide the basis for the removal of the free LAV, thereby alleviating some of the LAV spam murder taxiing, as players would be more willing to spec into a vehicle knowing they could prevent it from being stolen or destroyed by artificial means (unattended vehicle destruction). |

Would be smart to be able to give this function to a squad, that way there could be designated tank-squads.
Reason; I play as a Logi, sometimes riding with tanks as gunman and fixer-crew, and have to admit itGÇÖs irksome when someone jumps in the tank while IGÇÖm busy patching it up. Most of them have no care for it either, bolting the first sign of problem without trying to provide some TLC or coverfire for the tank to retreat if it gets hot. |

A simpler way would be for only squad mates can have immediate access to your vehicle if you are not inside it. Let there be a timer of 5-10 secs before any non squad mate can get inside your vehicle once you've left it. And if you must recall your vehicle, you should be able to go up to it and hold circle to kick everyone out of it and locking them out except you or 5 secs. This would help prevent many blue berries from stealing your vehicle when you try to get them out of it to recall it. These are ideas that I thin would work well. |

while not a full lock i haver noticed that i cannot immediately jump into other peoples vehicles for about 2-3 seconds after the vehicle spawns in(during this time a squad vehicle will also be "green") and then once those few seconds are up it'll allow anyone to jump in. while not very long not sure when they snuck it in but is this at least a start?? was wondering if any other vehicle pilots noticed that or if it was just me being slow :)
p.s. i rarely take friendly vehicles unless the tank pilot was an idiot and called the tank in and got himself killed(i will USUALLY give it back)
p.s.s. i like jumping into blueberry lavs as that gets me to the point quicker if you domt jump in immediately the blueberry runs off with 2 spots empty |

This is seriously an issue that needs resolved soon, I do not spend 800 to a Mil in isk on a tank anyone can use and no doubt promptly get blown to bits.
There have been numerous times I have wanted to change out tanks, repair(I run shield tanks and a armor repper on my suit), or simply try to snipe an enemy with my sniper rifle then pop back into my tank. But I live in a perceptual shell that is my tank because I'm surrounded by crazy tank eating zombie blueberries that live off the destruction of your tank. Mindless A * *holes.
I've actually driven my tank into the redzone hoping the blueberries could take a hint, no they are mindless, with only one sole purpose, to drive your bada** tank. If they seriously don't get out of my tank after taking them to a redzone, I wait and wait, and wait, and wait some more. Then I hit my boosters, drive as far into the redline as I can, and let the timer tick down. Still these f**kin ****** zombie douches stay. What is your problem blueberry, guess what we all die. I will be the one in control of my tank and when it dies or how. For I am more then willing to lose that expensive tank over something I should have control over, who RUNS my tank.
What I really hate more then anything is blueberries in my rail sniper, shooting constantly. I mean I'll give them this, they ARE shooting at something. But you would think after 1000 shots you would realize you aren't doing anything. Just leaching my points. Ok, cool but can you please stop shooting that f ing turret, oh no you cant. Ok... Oh sh**, I'm on fire and now in a safe zone. Blueberry, please don't do it. I pop out and start repping it, whew fires out. My tank moves over the crest, the turret alone is worth a mil, and boom, it is gone. The only good thing about it, so is the blueberry. You a**hole *uck zombie douche ****** blueberries.

i Support the idea of Locking vehicles, but only to members of your squad. Hence should the owner/driver die, a squad mate can retrieve the vehicle and continue to use it to the squad's advantage. the standard 'destruction timer' should remain should no squad member be able to retrieve said vehicle.
in the event where a vehicle is called in by a merc that is not in a squad, and said merc is K.I.A., then the vehicle should be available to any team member to steal. that way if you want to guarantee that you, and only you, have access to said vehicle you would have to create a squad (and lock it) to ensure no Blueberry can steal your ride.
all vehicles should be able to be hacked by the enemy though. that should not change IMO. |
