I love the ability to know when you get a head shot kill whether its extra points or a sound or a dance... That being said the new head shot sound IMO really REALLY sucks, I really loved the silence that occurred when you scored a head shot before the update. The sound if you didn't know was the LACK of sound almost like tranquility of the kill.
The Gong or Bell or whatever you want to call it needs to be changed to something else.
I know i'm not completely alone in this opinion but I don't think CCP will change it without feedback from us.
If you think like me and think it sound be changed back or to something better voice your opinion and if you want to voice why you think it should stay the way it is then by all means speak up.
P.S. If you like the gong don't try to sell me on why its better, I respect everyone's opinion but this is mine. |

I also preferred the previous headshot sound, which was a momentary damping of ambient audio to signal the snuffing out of a clone's life. The new headshot sound is a sad trombone, truthfully.

When we first introduced the "sound vacuum" sound there was a lot of noise on the forums about not liking it or being really confused by it. I'm seeing now that we've added the headshot sound that a lot of people really grew to like it. I personally like using silence in the right way, it can add a lot of tension by removing sound rather than just layering tense stuff on top of it.
So, yeah, I've watched some people who get more headshots than I do and I see that this sound is a bit overly dramatic. We're playing around with a few different things for headshots - right now a modified version of the vacuum (where some sounds are kept at normal volume) is my favorite. |

What about a sound like their helmet being breeched/their helmet glass(?) breaking, that might be cool. |

As someone that places headshots quite a bit, i loved the absence of sound, especially doing it a couple of times in a row, made me fistpump at each one of em, right now this sound leaves me a bit Meh as it sounds like an anchievement or something in super mario bro's while the previous one was pure epicness shoved trough my opponents faceplate while taking my exit que trough the back of his skull.

I hated the muting effect of headshots last build I like the current headshot sound. I would LOVE a glass shattering sound. Helmets are full of sensors and other equipment, so a shattering sound fits for headshots. |

I, too, rather enjoyed the old "vacuum" effect, at least compared to the current one. The total absence of sound may have been a bit much, but I do like the idea of some sounds staying at a normal value. |

I miss the old sound too. This new one feels like a random error message from a computer. If some sounds stayed normal (such as gun fire near you) but the headshot being a "vacuum" would be really cool. |

I still don't understand why you get the sound vacuum when you score a headshot, as opposed to getting one when you recieve a headshot.. |

I don't know, it's kind of ridiculous when I'm pointing my laser rifle at someone's head, draining away their health, then as the last tick goes down BAM! The dropped piano sound. When using other weapons I don't have a problem, it's just feels weird with the laser rifle IMO. |

Make it sound like what the bullet would actually do which is to enter the brain and rotate around inside. Presumably, the armor at the back of the head would keep it from exiting. Gory for sure, but at least somewhat realistic. Good luck finding something to record. Maybe a "clank" and the sound of a watermelon exploding. Ok, that was really gory |

I like the sound, though agree a different tone might be more appropriate.
The muffle if anything should occur after a grenade blast at your feet since it rattled your eardrums. Having things explode with no hearing protection in real life... it does happen with the silence/ringing, and then it comes back. That would be cool. |

Climb to the top of the building and drip a big, fat watermelon. Capture that splatting sound with some extra reverb so it might have a slight echo to it. That should do the trick. |

Sound vacuum only is effective if you aren't sniping into a group. Wham wham wham...
And it feels like my sound is broken.
Always liked the way killzone did it - it was a puh-plink noise.
Something higher pitched that stuck out amidst the noise of people on the mics, gun fire - etc.
Then you got a little (o_o) head logo by their name signifying they had just had their cranium turned into a brain matter infused art deco project.

I'd enjoy the headshot sound to have a loud crack sound rather than the gong sound is has now but I do enjoy the loud gong more than no sound at all. I notice some players don't like the loud sound, but I appreciate it.
MAG had a very nice crack when you both received and inflicted a head shot.
Speaking of which, can the recipient of a headshot also hear the gong sound? That would be very nice to have. |
