bravo!
Must say though, to those asking for an hour or more of play time, "what of new players and the support forums?"

How to make a troll...
Step 1: Make an account
Step 2: Make a char
Step 3: AFK a Skirmish
Step 4: Log on the forums
Step 5: Have fun!
IMO make it at least 1 hour... Just saying |

Before Step 1) you have to do the following pre-steps : Pre-Step 1) Buy PlayStation 3 ($$$) Pre-Step 2) Create PSN account (free) Pre-Step 3) Download DUST 514 (free) (wait time)
So to troll now you have to dish some fat bacon...
Before regulating write access, all the troll had to do was creating free PSN account via PSN web page, then create DUST char via DUST webpage and then "hapilly" troll/spam DUST forum. Without owning PS3 hardware.
Now the troll has to own the hardware. And if she owns it there is little chance she will troll... |

All this conspiracies theories.... Making a new PSN account is very easy, it takes only 5 minutes... well 15 minutes now. Is not other game companies spying, or spawning Dust....Just bitter Vets with lots of accounts. But CCP does encourage this anyway, with the metagaming culture. I just wish they stop banning people for stupid things... is getting old now. |

Great idea.. While the 10 mins seems like a short time, it also comes with having to actually download the game and install it etc.. Which takes up a lot longer than 10 minutes. So I think overall it's a positive outcome.

For those of you who advocates a longer time, I strongly suggest that it in that case do not affect all forum categories. At least the Rookie training ground should be accessible at all times, regardless of playtime. And there should be a message that tells them that the rest of the forum will be accessible once they have played a little more. And that message SHOULD NOT be a sticky thread, but a hard box on top of the page. And IMO, the time for how much longer they have to play should not be given out. Maybe a hint. That way, spammers will lose interest, and those curious will be catched. |

I think it should be the following way:
- 10 mins before posting in the rookie training ground
- 0 mins for tecnical support and bugs
- 1 hour for feedback and requests ( Should be longer since many people tend to play for a bit and then go into forums but this will make serious players make the suggestions and feedback. I personally think at least 24 hours before anyone can post feedback and requests so they have a somewhat thorough play through before they start making ridiculous threads and suggestions because they think is should be more like COD or BF )
I think some would agree that after playing for some time you get used to the situations and game style of dust and have earned the right to make suggestions based on experience and not on pre-imposed assumptions about how an MMO FPS should be. |

That suggestion is ridiculous... You want to create a Forum in which is restrictions according to status ? I hope CCP don't even considers this stupid idea. We suppose to appeal to new players more, not discriminate them, and make them feel like 2nd class citizens. But with all the stupid things that CCP is doing lately, it wont surprise me if they end up doing exactly that. |

Yes we are supposed to appeal to new players. But those players don't even understand the mechanics of the game to even be suggesting changes that might disrupt the core of the game just because they are used to playing Battlefield and Call of Duty. They want instant satisfaction and will leave as soon as they get it. EvE and Dust are games of longevity. New players want it all and they want it now and it's not like that. CCP has already compromised making big changes because BB's where getting ripped apart by HMG's. Now I see talk about them wanting AV buff because they can't kill vehicles with militia items. These changes and much more. This scares me because when those BB's get tired of the game the true Dust supporters will be left with the mess made to accommodate them. 24 hours of gameplay is nothing for a game you want to keep playing. If the gamer doesn't hit that mark, chances are he's not really that interested in the game and just want some Instant satisfaction till the new "in" game comes along. |

I say make it one week. A new player wont know jack about the game in 3 hours. Forget about 10 mins. it takes 10 mins just to log into the game and another hour figure out how to turn the mic on. |

Limit the number of posts you can make within a certain timeframe. It's one thing having to play whatever amount to post on the forums. It's another thing that you can pretty much fill the frontpage with spam threads/posts within minutes once you get there.
The problem is that they can freely use scripts to post far more quickly than any legitimate user would so they can do way too much damage with every account before getting banned. |

The 10-minute thing would only be most effective if the person trolling is given a hardware ban in addition to an account ban. But since most bans handed out are just account bans, I don't see any logic in making it just 10 minutes. Make at require at least completing one of every game mode or a certain amount of hours (whichever is practical). |
