With CCP doing near monthly updates now (they should've started doing this along time ago) and the PS4 about 6 months away from release is it to late for Dust 514 or is it not? The Division (check it out its an awesome game) , Destiny and Blacklight Retribution , and BF4 will most likely take most of what's left of the Dust 514 population away. These monthly updates will most likely work on things that we always complain about and also add stuff that we should have had by now (battle modes, getting out of the quarters and many more things) but even if these updates do fix and add things that we've wanted but how many of us will be around? I'm not saying that everyone will be buying the PS4 but I assume plenty of ppl here already did or will once the price goes down. Sure people will still be playing the PS3 after the PS4 is released but how long will it last really?
What I'm basically asking is
1. Is it too late for Dust 514 too survive on the PS3?
2. If it's not how many people will actually still be here?
3. Will these monthly updates be enough to satisfy those that remain playing Dust 514?
4. Should CCP just stop working on developing Dust 514 for the PS3 , shutdown the Dust 514 servers, and start working on Dust 514 for the PS4? |

No it's not to late.
I say around what we have right now. If those updates are good. People will always leave for other games and other things but they will come back. I didn't play as much when i got the last of us.
If CCP does them well and i'm liking the July 2nd one. So i don't see why not. How many other games have monthly updates? Games can get stall after a month or 2 after playing. Monthly updates keep it fresh. I really like that.
No Dust 514 on the ps3 is not a failure it still has plenty of positional, you can't go off what the forums say 95% of the time, most are just trolls. Also they probably already have people working on a ps4 version. |

1) no, there`s a few threads but I bet CCP is stressing to release as much content as fast as possible, I`m betting on the 3rd or 4rth update it would be mind blowing to see the amount of content they got up and running for us.
2) 6k people by the PS4.
3) I think so, I think CCP is releasing a few things over the 1st few updates in preparation for stuff that they want to release ASAP, so the AA tank means a lot of aerial vehicles following.
4) why not do both consuls? |

Its not to late, the PS3 still have at least 2 years left of life, and that is how long it will take for the PS4 to get up to speed, with games and system fixes. But yes... the updates needs to be a bit faster CCP... or at the very least, alot bigger. |

If PVE is added, and loot isn't based off random numbers but instead you have to scavange, I'll probably stay for a long time. Also, SECONDARY MARKETPLACE!

There is no real way of answering your question. Even if everybody on the forum answered we still don't know since I expect a lot of players don't read/come to the forums.

If we get gamemodes and content . And if we get out of the grinding mode and really feel we tribute to something, that our bullets also count fore something.
I think patch and contents have to go hand in hand, aiming and bugs and balancing is issuse thats a never ending story, they will allways be worked on, but that should not get in the way of giving us more gamemodes and a closer connection to EVE .
There is a saying EVE IS REAL.... you do things and when you log on again its still there, something you have put out in space. In dust we just have a feeling of grinding with no purpose than to unlock a new weapon or module. There is no feeling for the history, faction you are working for. Very small map and very repeting, that is mybe wy so many is inactive.
One question CCP : will we get PVE this year ?
I now I now what about the core gameplay, yea yea its possible to do 2 things at a time, becouse if we wait for it to get a perfect aim, no bugs and perfect balancing we are looking on a very long timeframe before we get anything than patches...

exactly how I feel about this game right now, FW battles affect the EVE side but we don't see anything change on our side. Grinding Grinding Grinding now it just feels like another lobby shooter |

I'll be here awhile. Don't plan on getting a PS4 for at least a year. There are still good games coming out for PS3. TLoU, FFXIV, Remember Me, GTAV, ect. Hell I still have some game series to catch up on as well. |

Well that's good to hear but the Last of Us isn't really "competition" for Dust 514 only other FPS and console MMO games are. |

Sure it is, but only temporarily. In reality, I can't think of a single game, (maybe Elder Scrolls/Fallout or Planetside 2) with the level of releasing content that Dust is supposed to have. Essentially, people will leave for one game, finish it and return to spend their Passive SP.
I've already done this twice and I have to say....it's addicting.
As for the competition, I really hope they stop trying to directly compete. The AAA, balanced, Competitive Shooter is a tired model and sort of 1-track idea that I really kind of hope Dust 514 breaks :D |

The last of us is so overrated good story not great, very short single player game, very linear and the MP is just lol. The people that get paid to review games were smoking saying it's a masterpiece lmao.
As far Dust I will continue to play one day a week until we have, more content, roll over SP, a lager SP pool for the week, a respec option. |

I agree there are very few reasons to play right now but I got nothing better to do right now lol , games that I considered competition are games that have updates not a bunch of dlc that cost you $$$

I really like dust 514... what I don't like is the way CCP has treated its community lately, the bugs, and the lack of pve, I think the last 2 will be fixed over the next year or so.
as far as to the shelf life of the ps3 in the face of the ps4 I look back to the ps2 when the ps3 was released.... ps2 still did well for years so I think the same will hold true
I do think think however with games like destiny and elder scrolls online being released on the ps4 dust is gonna really have to do something special ( which I believe the potential is there) if it wants to survive along side them.... and thats just whats coming out at ps4 release... imagine whats to come.... contrary wise imagine whats to come for dust....more so new eden... I know CCP plans to make eve and dust so much more than what it is today incorporating all kinds of devices and making the I.P. new eden rather than dust or eve and it will transcend ps3 or ps4. |

Dust is free and people can play more then one game.
Dust's problem is not competition that does not exist yet (hell Team Fortress 2 has something like 60k people playing it right now why do we need to talk about games like BF4 which no one is playing right now when there are already games that people do play)
Dust's problem is it isn't a very good game and anyone who starts playing it today will get their face stomped in right out of the academy....so they leave. |

Well based on early predictions what this generation is going though is going to be similar to previous generation with one major exception.
That Xbox 360 will be on the shelf much longer into the Xbone's life cycle than the PS3's into the PS4's. Adoption Rates of the PS4 is expected to be very high and if its too high you can see PS3 getting 'dropped' off real quick in terms of cross generational games. |

So true, some basic tutorials would be nice, maybe new people should be put in Dust University when they make their first character. Although I don't know how Dust University would be able to teach them all or how Dust University is organized. |

PS4 version of Dust 514? Maybe not, CCP is already having a hard enough time working on the ps3 version. So most likely more content for the ps3 version |

If CCP can keep up with itself, and keep delivering good updates on the PS3, I could see this being one of the last PS3 holdout communities, especially since the big name games will have all moved to PS4, this F2P game on PS3 will have a lot of appeal for the poorer among us. With that said they need to get on PS4 ASAP, less for the community and more for the expansive potential of the hardware. If this game plans to be around for the next decade it needs to prepare for the next decade. The EVE interaction is the bridge that will keep this game alive from one platform to the next, they need that more than anything. |

exactly the EVE interaction is unique and its the only reason I got into this game, and I'm sure plenty of others got into Dust 514 for the same reason. |

I'm not hating the game in this thread, all I did was ask a few questions to get other peoples opinions on CCP's progress on Dust 514 and I also wanted to see if anyone will be sticking around with the ps3 playing Dust 514. |
