I click on the character dropdown but only see my original characters to switch to and it's all on the same account. How much WP do you need to be able to post? Does it restrict your ability to view the forums too? Ah ignore my nonsense - I found it. Now, why can't I see the corp forum? |

Been trying to come up with some way for scouts to be able to catch up to those annoying speedy tanks when they zoom away from you trying to get REs on them and think there should be some kind of turbo boost scout equipment. It should fit like a cloak (massive cost, scout reductions) and be a short active module that blasts you forward at 20-30m/s for 5-10 seconds depending on variant and skill level. Maybe even make an airborne variant that you can take to the skies with to get atop annoying dropship only places?
Reckon this could be awesome. It wouldn't be like having 50 kin cats that would break animations; it would have its own animation that could look something like a horizontal inertial dampener. It could have the same kinda vroom noise to it too. Whaddya'll think?

BTW been getting a fair bit of SOME MARGIN OF ERROR on my standard flux scanner lately, so I'm guessing that is still implemented for those that are only just dampened under your scanner db - better watch out if you're only just getting under 28db!

Only knifed for a game or so on this alt when working up my wp for forum posting and never got the opportunity to knife a driver :(
Fortunately, headshotting a heavy out of the driverseat with my breach scrambler pistol is also lots of laughs :)

The dev blogs will come but at least one of them will be distinctly disappointing and at least one other will have very little actual new info - this is the way. Last time we were told there'd be dev blogs - we got one and it was so underwhelming I can't even remember what it was on. I'm not holding my breath to have my socks knocked off.
1.8 will change a lot of things in this game but the underlying game will still be the same. However, Fanfest sounds exciting. My entirely baseless speculation is that there will be something BIG happen with the Dust <> Eve link (that's why CCP FoxFour has gone Eve side lately). What this will be, I couldn't speculate much further - it's going to be "hands on" at FF, so I doubt it'll be trade/manufacture/economy related, so perhaps it's PVE finally? We know they had it at least half done when they showed those drones in the trailer so many months ago, so not entirely out of the question - other than that, I really can't imagine much else that would be 'groundbreaking'.
As for PC - I've done a fair few, not a lot but probably once or twice a month for the past 7 months or so. It is fun but it can be very frustrating. My role as a scout is always to be on the outer objectives, usually the enemy home point. I get an uplink somewhere nearby nicely hidden and wait for opportunities to run in for a quik 3 second codebreaker hack, plant REs (that are almost always fluxed because PC players mostly aren't dumb) and get out to hide again. Often there'll be a tank nearby guarding but ever since we got sticky explosives, HAV guards have been somewhat of a gift for me :) Sometimes I'll be left on my own for more or less the entire match but sometimes a few red dots will come to take it back and I'll sneak up on them and pistol to the back of the skull but on other occasions they send half the team and I just have to bug out.
The biggest problem though, is that I'm one guy on one objective and even if I do my job well, I'm still reliant on the rest of the team to actually take the city and/or hold our home point. It can get boring and extremely frustrating knowing that I can have an impeccable match but still lose, even though I know my team should be good enough if I've held a point solo for an entire match. But meh, such is the way of dust, I suppose. I still enjoy it most of the time anyway, especially when I can see the enemy searching around for me and I'm just hiding round the corner watching them ^_^

I'll add that I think any non-caldari scout should be able to scan any undampened non-gallente scout with a single complex precision enhancer - that this is not the case means something needs to be done. Nobody should have to dedicate 2 mod slots to be able to counter passive skill buffs on someone wearing the same suit.

Also noticed that Nova Knife seems less buggy than I remember.
Not sure if I will keep playing or wait until 1.8 and try again. Tanks - yes, they're everywhere, all the time. Your REs will stick to them - you need 3 and a flux to take out most.
Nova Knives have had a number of fixes done but they're still not working perfectly and the small field of view will always mean that proper in your face fighting is extremely difficult.
Welcome back to the fold.

When you have two modules of the same type but different tiers the stacking penalty applies to the lesser module.

Momentarily lost interest in dust when they announced that only drop suit command is being refunded. So I didn't even notice that they've changed the scouts scan precision to 40. If anyone asks wether or not it is worth checking out dust 1.8 I'll tell them: No. If you don't like it now, 1.8 won't do anything for you. Suits and guns don't change a game. Gameplay changes a game. Game modes change a game. Until we get more of that stuff, Dust514 is still the same old game it used to be. People don't generally leave Dust514 because there aren't enough weapons or suits or whatever; people leave because it's boring and there are not enough interesting and varying things to do.

Has anyone actually tried building some theoretical assault suits for 1.8? Do scouts really outperform them or is this just panicked scaremongering? I'd like to see some fits please :)

Ninja Troll wrote:One Eyed King wrote:Look at this build and tell me something like this won't be a problem for 1.8. http://www.protofits.com/fittings/shared/181/1170I think there should be some leeway to add additional shields and armor to a scout suit, but if you have a higher ehp than an assult, you shouldn't be able to move so much faster, still retain the reduced profile etc. 916 ehp is close to heavy levels. On a character that has dampening maxed, it would be nearly impossible to detect, which is a weakness that makes heavies and medium frames more balanced. Its awfully early to say for certain, but I see lots of room for this type of outfit to be abused. Yeah this type of build will be common with Gal and Amarr scouts. Although I expect to see the RR or MSMG, with 2 complex shield extenders. Plan on hunting these people with my Cal scout. Okay, so I tried to make a gk0 assault that could outclass this and this is as good as I could get: http://www.protofits.com/fittings/shared/0/1492
It sucks balls. Same weapons/equipment setup, slightly slower, slightly less armor. Extra shields is really all it has going for it. And the ability to passive scan undampened scouts (except gallente). I tried making it less armor tanky and putting more shields on instead of being able to passive scan but ran out of PG.
I think it's becoming more and more obvious that CCP really really needed to get their pass on the base stats and slots of medium suits done for 1.8 because no one with any sense would run an assault suit in this situation.

"Why do you need active scanner logi, when you can have a passive scanner logi?" 55m scan range is hardly like a scanner logi.
And wow! We can really fit all but one slot as proto!? I'm even more inclined to believe we have too much fittings space in 1.8 now.
