This is a really powerful core mechanic that we've been seriously missing. You'll fix ~80% of MCC afking right off with this. This shouldn't be that hard to implement... any word on if we can expect to see this in 1.3-1.5? |

CCP, people are tired of grinding each week's SP because it'll disappear if they don't. Any word on making SP persist week to week?

I have to afk farm each week's SP or I wouldn't cap out. Im tired of it, everyone who has to deal with me afking their match is tired of it.
We need the proper fix to this CCP... you know... the one you said you we're working on 6 months ago?
Should take about 2-3 days of programming to get this done... wtf is it? |

Regardless, some rested SP (not boosting the total, just your rate of acquiring it, like a skill booster that doesn't raise your cap) would be so awesome for more casual players, since everytime they manage to log on, they'll make a boat load of SP. If one day they get the time to sit down and hammer out a ton of matches, all that SP is right there, waiting to be claimed.
And, it still doesn't let you climb over your total cap. It's just an amazingly flexible system all around, the whole thing. I look forward 2087 when it goes live. |

Every time your skill queue... which has a limit of 24 hours (but allows longer skills in as long as they are starting within the 24 hour limit)... runs dry. |

That takes what, 15 seconds (and $15 or however many million ISK a PLEX is)
CCP has already expressed an interest in the rollover cap, but it's likely going to take them at least another 6 months to get that in place. |

I just don't think we need to make sure everyone can always get their cap by storing it up like unused vacation days (some of you may not understand this reference).
Of course, I know all you professional (or should I say "competitive") FPS folks can't imagine not getting every point possible even if that means AFKing while you do laundry, but I'd propose that for the majority of society that is not the path to finding the game fun.
Hey, whatever floats your boat. Make a good argument and maybe you'll get it. However, at this point, I think we have a lot of fish to fry and my priority would be elsewhere. |

We voted on this months ago. The only reason I can think that CCP wouldn't implement it yet, is for fear that day-to-day player numbers would drop in the knowledge they wouldn't miss out on SP. |

Well, unless you live in your moms basement still, you'll find that many people who have lives are often able to overlook stuffing crap in their skill queue for days at a time. Oh noes!!!
Besides, getting off the PS3 to run EVE gets in the way of playing Dust. And, loading the latest Eve launcher update takes more than 15 seconds... besides, it takes hours of spreadsheet work to figure out what the hell to skill into in the first place... |

I think they would see a huge boost in active booster sales if they finally implemented this.
They've already stated they know how its going to work.
You get your bonus sp pool on a per second basis just like you get passive SP, and active boosters increase in game by 50% and bonus pool accrual by 50%
This way... no booster time is wasted, you don't cap out in less than a week and then get shafted by 'wasted days' of active boosters barely affecting your soft capped SP per battle.
Also, I think people would log in more often if they always had (albeit maybe a small) bonus pool to look forward too. I'm sure if you look at the stats, people play until they hit their cap and most people log off for the rest of the week because they don't wanna play battles with only soft cap SP rewards.
Some people might take breaks for a couple days/weeks/etc but so what... people do that in every game. They will appreciate the game more if they don't have to worry about losing their bonus pool each week. |

+1 righteous post- giving rollever would definitely put everyone on the same playing field-
Joe blow may have 15 million sp but you can eventually get your 15 million and be on par- This is a great idea and will shift the dynamic so that the new player base will still have to grind SP but can eventually achieve competitive status |

CCP Nothin wrote:Active boosters simply multiply the number of skill points you receive at the end of each battle. As such, you are better off activating them when your pool of battle skill points is full (e.g. at the beginning of each weekly cycle). If you play a lot, you might be better off with a shorter (e.g. 3-day) active booster as it will allow you to earn bulk of the extra SP by playing a lot while it is active. If you prefer a more casual style of play, you might prefer to have the boost active throughout and have the freedom to spread your play over more days without worrying about it too much.
Now, in regard to the weekly skill cap and the implications of it:
We acknowledge that the current implementation of the skill cap still isn't quite there yet. It doesn't quite allow people to choose when to play as freely as we would like, and it also adds some unnecessary complexity when it comes to using active boosters. This is why we are working our way towards a rollover SP system: instead having your pool of bonus SP being reset according to a fixed weekly cycle, you will steadily accumulate bonus SP to a pool over time that you can then empty through fighting in battles. As a result, everyone should be able to better choose when to come in and claim the available SP. Moving to such a system would have the added benefit of allowing us to make active boosters to give out a constant value over time by having them influence the rate at which SP accumulates into the pool instead of just multiplying SP received at the end of each battle.
so the idea is there ! let's push this! |

Thats right. I'm working on my computer. My 7 day active booster expires on Saturday morning and I likely won't have much time to cap out tomorrow night. So I am afking to ensure I can get the full boosted cap.
This is the exact reason why we need sp rollover sooner rather than later.
For the record.. i afk in my adv fit |

Unlike in DUST, you can have a pretty terribad "build" and still have tons of things to do and enjoy. In DUST, you get ******* stomped. That's is what happens in DUST, stomp or be stomped. Nothing else :/ |

We really need this working ASAP
unless ofc its back dated when its put in place (still my preference)
Would mean taking a break from the game im more likely to come back as i know i can still gain the sp back without an issue, also means people may run more accounts so when they do have the time to blitz the game they can
I know when i take a holiday its normally a gaming holiday so i can blitz whatever game im playing, this does not really happen with Dust |

We all Voted on an SP roll over Months ago, and acknowledged the majority of the community wanted this.
But we got the current SP system now as a place holder, until they could get this complicated change in place.
I know they said it would be far down the road, but it has been a very long time already.
The SP cap with a roll over is the only system that allows new comers to catch up and keeps basement dwellers from maxing all skills too quickly.
There should be no discussion about what kind of SP system we want. We already decided.
The vote was very once sided in numbers, and overwhelming for this option.
Is this even being worked on? Has it been on the back burner the entire time?
I always find it refreshing when a developer says "We hear you, and were working on it."
We have been pretty patient, and I am sure many people don't even know about what was voted on by now.
We would like an update as to the progress of something that, CCP said they heard us, and were working on.
What is your time frame for when this is to happen?

People, it's obvious CCP doesn't want to roll over your unused Bonus SP.
Why?
Because all it would take is changing one half of one line of code, that's why.
Instead of running this every week:
Bonus_SP := 187,0000;
You run this:
Bonus_SP := Bonus_SP + 187,000;
Something that simple is not being delayed due to coding issues. it's being delayed for political reasons as many folks here have espoused. I personally suspect a fear of daily player count drop if it were implemented. |
