I'm well aware that this change has been done because some people complained that the female avatar walks like, well, a hooker. I have yet to see the new animation and frankly, I don't care about it, but what if instead of everyone having the same animation, we were allowed to change it
Maybe some people actually like the current "sexy" animation(that includes women, not just perverts )
Well, I think people should have the freedom to choose their characters mannerisms. Like I don't know, have a "tough guy" pose/walk, or have my character always look bored out of his mind, maybe even have "flamboyant" animations, just stuff like that, so we can personalize our clones further.
Obviously it shouldn't be a priority, but I think it would be neat |

Point still stands but if you want to be specific to the character modeling team how about its nice to see they are updating war barge walking animations over getting out the Minmatar, Gallente, and Caldari heavies or the Caldari and Amarr scout suits |

All the modeling team has to do is make sure it doesn't clip, but the model is already there, and unless there's a problem, there's no real reason for them to still be involved. Not sure what makes you think they're involved in the animation process.

Dust's female model dont even look like super soldiers. I dont know why game devs make such a big deal about putting in female characters for their female players and then half assing it by putting in a petite model with a noticeable size difference compared to their male counterparts. They look more like runway models and would break in combat.
If you're not gonna do it right, then dont do it at all is what I'm saying to prominent FPS devs. |

Lol, you haven't seen very many women Marines then. There are plenty of petite, skinny little Marine women that can one shot your head with an M-16 just fine.
I don't recall this game involving heavy broadswords or lifting boulders unaided. |

my girlfriend would probably tell me she doesn't view video game walk animations as the battlefront for civil rights.
If it was, then I'm sure there should be tens of thousands of men lining up to complain that the image of male game models being stocky and muscular portrays a sexist stereotype gender image for men that most of their 150lb bodies/genetics can't live up to. Or that working out is too hard, or they have X medical condition and this is demeaning and objectifying or what have you.
Where's the representation for legal midgets or amputees? Not all humans fall into the range of 5-7 feet tall with all their arms, legs, fingers and toes. This reinforces the viewpoint that the human body should exist in some idealized media portrayal!

It's late. I'm not sure how to tie in religion or sexuality to body image but maybe there's a way. Or maybe that way is a stereotype |

Battle clones shouldn't have a gender. What good do all those extra organs and fleshy parts do for a soldier who is not expected to live? Men are not allowed to be stereotyped, especially if they are 18 - 35 year old white males. All the worlds problems can be blamed on 18 - 35 year old white males. We are all homophobes, sexist, racist and bigots that deserve what we get. |

I have raised this issue before but here it goes again. What is a point of having gender branded battle clones? How do you know the exact number of male/female clones being needed for mercs? If there is equal number of males/females in a team and males perform inferior to females in the battle they will start to respawn in female clones right? And they will wear male dropsuits... Or vice versa...
Imho the clones we use for battle are genderless and guttless. They don't eat, they don't excrete and they can't have sex with each other Only muscles and brain for moving that dropsuit around and some biogoo inside to supply limited energy for said muscles and brain. Where do our consciousness resides when we are back from battle? Maybe we are in a VR space?
This is very good for shedding our heavy burden of dividing world between females and males. But wait... there is still that body swapping consciousness and it's alleged gender. Weird... |

I saw a video where some chick... Ahem... A female was configuring her dropsuit without her helmet on then it transfered to her dropping into battle. It had narration and all that from her perspective. I hope we'll have the option to get out of those suits in the mq in the future. I'd also like the ability to pan the camera a full 360 around my merc as well. Another thread though. |

Weird... I'd imagine part of the reason for the inclusion of all organs in a transient combat clone is to accommodate the brain's expectations.
The precise makeup of the brain probably ain't understood enough to make complicated minute adjustments. If it is they're probably still impractically finnicky. Altering it to be fine when in a body that's too alien to identify as a human body would be a greater hurdle than just meeting it's minimum expectations of what a human body encompasses.
If the brain rejects the body it's in as being it's own the results could be physiologically and psychologically traumatic.
Alternate explanation: it's a game and it being how it be is just a matter of it being the default way of things. |

Alarm: a woman just saw this thread.
No worries, as part of the super rare gamer-woman race, I actually have to LOL @ thinking female characters are meant to be played by female human beings.
I see a lot of games where there isn't any kind of customized animation for female characters. At least DUST got it. So far.
I might agree the current walk animation is exaggerated but I don't really mind it and I'm rather worried about looking like a gorilla. I like being "sexy" in a game, I'm a full armored mercenary already, I don't really want to look like a massive super soldier! What's the point in being a woman, then? lol.
If my clone's butt gets nerfed I would actually be mad at it :P

This depends on how our mercs originally came about.
If they are created in labs and/or pods so they have transferable consciousnesses and do not require natural reproduction, then yes, sexes are completely pointless for combat functionality.
If our mercs are reproduced naturally and just transfer their consciousness to clones for battle, then the sexes are necessary. If you go from being a 5'6" skinny girl to a 6'5" beefy gender-neutral super-soldier, your movements are going to be incredibly awkward as your clone body's movements will differ from your standard body's.
Can someone more familiar with EVE/DUST lore tell me which case is the actual method? |

Or that working out is too hard, or they have X medical condition and this is demeaning and objectifying or what have you. Where's the representation for legal midgets or amputees? Not all humans fall into the range of 5-7 feet tall with all their arms, legs, fingers and toes. This reinforces the viewpoint that the human body should exist in some idealized media portrayal! What else am I missing? You forgot race and sexuality, oh and religion
Yeah man, where's my pimp-like strut? Where's my John Wayne-like amble? Where's my gay boy sashay?
I think the figures should walk differently according to their race. Amarr walk very stiff and austere. Gallente walk like an overused *****. Caldari walk like a bull **** hyped on Red Bull. Minmatar walk like broke-back slaves that have been whipped too long. Make all the asian races do some variation on kung-fu like hopping or Crouching Tiger flying moves.
