So I'm angry I'll admit it. I'm tired of constantly coming to the forums and seeing "This is OP! ; "Redlining Isn't Fair!" ; "AR's are EVERYWHERE!" Whenever I see posts like this the first thing I think is "That person just sucks at the game." So here's a couple TTP's (Tactics, Techiniques, and Procedures.) I use to counter about 90% of whats complained about.
To the people who complain about AR's being everywhere... My thing is an AR is the basic ground fighting weapon. Deal with it. Don't like it, find a niche. Scrambler rifles work wonders on shields, and seeing how most other posts are about how horrible armor tanking is... There ya go.
1. Redline Snipers: First if you didn't know snipers are meant to fire from a distance from a hard to find spot, pure and simple. In this game it's the hills which usually means the redline area, sure theres a bunch of spots else where but still.
How to counter it: Basically actually USE cover, Don't run in a straight line, if you're hacking keep moving in circles, if you're hit and survive get your ass to cover, pay attention.
How to kill a redline sniper: You're given a free assault suit with a free sniper rifle; USE IT! Generally redline snipers get complacent, not to mention they have a lot of the battlefield to watch, find them, take your time line up a head shot and GAME OVER! Easy...
2. Tanks: Redline tanks are harder to deal with since there isn't much that can one shot them and they'll just back up out of view if they need to. However Tanks in general are not a nuisance. But since even in the tanks description it says they're designed for long range engagements... They're not going anywhere.
How to counter a Redline Tank:[/b ]So keep them backed up. Again use a militia suit if needed.
How to kill a redline tank:Coordinate a strike with several Swarms at the same time, if they're causing to much of a hassle.
How to counter a tank: Crazy, AV does work. Most drivers are scared to death of losing their tanks, hit them and make them run. May not kill them but a respite is all you need.
How to kill tanks: Easy, cooridnation!!! Again Squads, use them.
Tactical Hint: Shoot from behind Cover. run out get the lock move behind cover then loft your missiles over the barricade, aim straight up the missiles travel a set distance before they correct to engage the target. Unless the tank saw you to begin with he won't know where it came from. Good to go.
3. Proto-Gear: This is a big one for me. Okay, yeah you see guys running proto gear in insta-matches. Big whoop. They CAN die. Find cover, shoot from cover, flank and when need be GET THE FACK OUT! It's not running away it's a tactical retreat. And just remember when one goes down to your militia assault rifle you just cost him like 80k.
4. Heavies: Please... Speed and range. Need I say more?
5. Murder Taxis: AV Works wonders on these guys too, most of the time you hit them a few times and they bug out. The one thing I say CCP needs to do is just take away the free one, that will cut down the number we see on the battlefield.
I know I said use different suits, and people will say oh well I shouldn't have to change my suits. That's why you're given armories so you can swap fits mid fight.
[b]Build fits not for a whole battle, but for situations you encounter. I myself have a fit for the beginning of a skirmish match, a middle of skirmish match, and 2 different fits for end of the match dependent on the situation. Plus a fit for Redline Snipers, and a fit for AV.
I'm sure I missed a lot, let me know if you have anything, or if you want to share your TTP's POST!

People just naturally assume there god at this game.
No idea why. they think that if something kills them it must be overpowered.
Well you're wrong you're not super godlike, 1% of the people that play are that good but most are average- to above average.
This makes people think that if something kills them clearly it needs a nerf.
Easy solution, stop think you are perfect. Start playing smart instead of "I'm the best nothing can touch me" |

All good points.... I'm not big on using different suits though.
Well, unless you count "Scout w/ shotgun & regular grenades", "scout w/ Flux and AR", "Scout w/ Swarm and AV nades". Even with one build, even the same build you can tune your tactics to a large degree - especially if you have a relatively versatile weapon like the AR/ScR.
But it's easier for most people to just whine.

All very good points. I often find myself wondering of other players "What game is this guy playing?"
Every match, I see people running in straight lines for hundreds of yards across open terrain, standing out in the wide open while they call in a vehicle, or finding the most obvious place to silhouette themselves against the sky. I see people refusing to adapt to circumstances, charging blindly forward despite all signs pointing to the futility of doing so.
For example, I predominantly play a sniper and will zero in on choke points on the battlefield through which the enemy often passes. It's not at all unusual for me to see a line of four or five people making their way to an objective in a straight line. If I shoot the guy in front, the four in back will continue to charge forth as if nothing happened. I then kill a second guy in the same spot. The remaining three advance apparently unconcerned, and now I have a third body to add to the pile.
As with snipers, people often complain about the things they don't like in the game, but then continue to play as if those things don't exist. With just a little common sense and a healthy dose of self-preservation, players can do much better at the game. The problem some seem to have is playing DUST 514 while they're actually in DUST 514.
I don't know how games like COD and Modern Warfare play, but after watching some people play I get the sense that they have learned some habits in other games that don't work well at all for them in Dust. Maybe those other games are more of a zerg warfare run & gun style or something, but many people are not playing Dust as intended. |

There's the golden egg right there. "Zerg Warfare Run and Gun." mentality of other shooters.

Sniping Tip against LAV: You can snipe both the driver and the gunner. If the LAV is traveling parallel to you at high spped at approximately 200m shoot just before the front bumper. It'll hit the driver.

Lol. Most are average. That's kinda the definition of average.
Now before someone goes all math-pedantic on me. Yes I know that average doesn't mean that most people are necessarily at that skill level. I realize the standard deviation could be ridiculously high, but for the purposes of this forum, average will do.

I wish the lore was a bigger part of this game like EVE.
Pop quiz hotshot. How many 0311 M-16 carrying infantry riflemen do you think you'd find on the average battlefield?
Answer: a lot.
What do you think an AR is? The fully automatic basic AR is like the SAW which is a french piece of **** weapon. Your in-game AR at least fires every time you pull the trigger. God forbid CCP would ad jamming to the AR.
The burst variant is like the M-16 on burst mode. It fires 3 rounds.
The tactical variant is like the M-16 on regular single round mode. -
It's not clear to people how the Caldari and Gallente usually operate. So ppl ***** about the tanks. Caldari run long range rail/missile ships in EVE. Hence, they run long range rail/missile vehicles.
Shields are meant to go down in Dust at close range from some weapons. In EVE shields withstand different damage types. I'd wish CCP would bring in that kind of specific damage info. So yeah, damn straight redline tank! Though I prefer missiles and medium range.
Gallente are close range blaster and armor guys. They need to take a pounding to get in close with blasters. -
Sniping is a redline sport. I hate CCP marketed the heavy suit sniper in their ad. Why go sniper if you are going to run in close? All hail the god of sniping, Carlos Hathcock!
