A CoD player cannot be that bad at dust.

Couldn't watch the whole video, clearly she has a muscle memory for cod on Xbox.. Should have suggested that she look at the controls.. As there is a L2/R2 variant there iirc.

I only mention it cause she's clearly not familiar with the ps3, being an Xbox player. Couldn't ruin the results of the new player experience that much. Make another video in a few days once she's familiar if she keeps playing. I'm curious to see the results. I think you've got a good thing going here.

lemme get this straight - you put a twitch shooter player into a tracking fps game and she sucked? Should I be shocked? Was she frustrated the 2 bullets didn't kill everyone and keeping her aim on people was important? lol

If you watch the video her biggest problems were adjusting to the PS3 controller and a sort of general lack of intuition like red = bad and blue = good

Twitch shooter players will always struggle at first adapting to a tracker shooter.

Sort of but not really, CoDs radar shows sound sources but team skin designs are fairly distinct unlike here where any drop suit can be on either side
And I definitely wouldnt say twitch shooters have trouble adapting, for instance I myself played twitch shooters for a good 6 or 7 years before jumping into Dust which lets be honest is a bit of a throwback with the huge health bars and all and all that other experience does is train you to snap onto a target faster, most guys I know wont stop shooting until they see the point bonus for a kill come up on screen no matter what game they are playing

I watched 10 minutes before I stopped...

She has several problems that have NOTHING to do with this game - but FPS playing in general. She stands still when shooting - enters gun fights without knowing her controls - can't see red names apperently - wouldn't of reloaded her gun if you didn't remind her - and has just plain terrible aim. I doubt she even looked at her suit and possibilities. And she actually said getting sniped at 20-30m was unfair.

Next time record her after a week of playing after she gets over her xbox experiences and CoD - it would be a much truer experience for new players. I doubt she even knows what an AV nade is - which would be due to her rushing into game rather then exploring where dust shines - the suit costumization.

Sorry but -1. This was more of a propaganda video - unless I missed something not watching the last 9 minutes of her just being a terrible player in general.

I once tried an Xbox controller, I couldn't get use to it. I know what she was going through.

Yeah, I don't blame her. All my friends that tried Dust barely made it out of the academy and all rage quit once they started playing with the big boys. I think this game has a steeper learning curve cliff than EVE online. Hell, EVE actually has a ton of tutorials, instructors, training missions, and an in-game manual.

really? i used xbox for a long while switch to PS3 had no problem, switch back a week ago still no problem after not using an xbox for 6 months, guess its a size thing or something for people.

Its the triggers used for shooters. Its hard getting used to the bottom ones to aim and shoot.

I have been trying to find a way to record a "new" player on dust, and my friend said that she did not mind. I do apologize if it did in fact sound akward. I am a nerd and record by myself on all my videos, and this was the first time anyone besides my son has shared a video moment with me in the same room. I did though in fact title the video in a appropriate manner where it is in fact a new player.

Being how I am a lower species on the Youtube totem pole and pecking order, I have been waiting for my superior youtube Dust community allies to try and package this type of video, but got tired of waiting and this is the result. I will keep making them as she progresses and she will have unlimited access to my PS3 to " get better" if that is what she chooses.

I must say though.....this is "The New Player Experience" and no matter what anyone says.....it only goes one of two ways...keep playing/get better......or go play pokemon.

This is just a unique game that requires alot out of new players.. self control...dedication...and patience. Those are the 3 things that are required to succede in real life, and people tend to play games to escape real life. It takes a rare breed to stick with a game that requires as much.

You gained points in my book, simply by not telling them things. NPE in DUST is lacking. Most academy matches I have been in have lots more murder taxis running around. Which leads me to believe it is vets with a new PSN account. Granted I was as well but.. yeah.

Another thing I noticed from the vid is they were an xbox player. When they throw grenades, yeah they were trying to ADS but since PS put it all on the bumpers instead of the triggers..... I did that so much when I first started playing FPS on PS3. Xbox controller is such a better FPS controller.

I like your vids LRH. Keep making them. Here is my YT channel. I'm going to subscribe to yours but you don't need to do the same. I play too many console games nowadays and have no capture tool for them. I should get one but... Maybe when PS4 come out I will.

Actual tutorials would actually help with this and prepare newberries expecting this to be a free CoD to realize that this is a much different, deeper game. Look at how many new players try to camp corners or try to quickscope.

I truly think that a good majority of new players turn into "toxic" players due to the way the game being so non new player friendly. Some people will quit, but a good majority will keep playing due to being toxic "pissed off" and want revenge and get on other players levels......I have seen this, and it can be seen on the forums.


it seems that there is alot of "ass's" on the forums, but i am sure the majority of the "ass's" are good people, but have the toxic syndrom from Dust. Which i enjoy and have a passion for Dust....it is what it is.....stop and look how many trolls are on the forums....for no reason except their own personal frustration "toxic"

My brother and my sister are in the beta... I am a FFXIV collectors edition game holder yet they have yet to give my account beta access..... I think and believe it is because I blasted FFXIV back before it shut down. FFXIV was so bad in terms of MMORPG......just so bad. It's funny.

I am going tp record some more....I have to break her away from the final fantasy "A Realm Reborn" beta.... and thanks Dub :)
