In the wake of recent crippling lag, FPS issues that persist despite ardent please, and following EVERYTHING the devs and customer support have stated, The Southern Legion is shutting down it's Planetary Conquest Division.
It's been a great run, at one stage holding the second most amount of Molden Heath, representing the Australian and New Zealand player base (which we still intend to do), and we will be seeking to come back when these crippling issues have been resolved.
Hellstorm, Seraphim, Nyain San, Tickle Monsters, Zion, Ahrendee, Unholy Legion of Darkstar. You've all been valiant opponents, and we've had our share of victories, and losses against you all (some more than others) and we hope that you continue to thrive, so that when we are ABLE to return, we can face you guys as equals, and not as cripples.

It's a shame we're going to have to do this.
The PC battles have been fun when they've worked, even if we've probably been outclassed in most matches. I've had a blast fighting you all in the few matches I've been in, even when you've crushed me.
I've been lucky compared to most in my corp as my connection is pretty good for Australia and as I play scout I'm generally not surrounded by others to crush the connection. Having said that, when the lag strikes, people start jumping in 5 metre bursts all around me. Mix that with a DS3 controller and fighting become almost impossible.
CCP, you really need to look into PC battles. There's something different between them and regular fights that's making the lag unbearable. Asia servers in normal fights are almost the same as the Oceania ones, yet PC they're worst by far. I can play on the US servers anytime, no issues even with all the chat channels I normally have open and full comms running, yet in PC it breaks down. EU servers are always bad but are still worse in PC fights.
AU/NZ players are used to lag on everything but we have our limits. Dust PC battles have reached that limit.
Hopefully oneday we'll be back.... |

Essentially the same reasons CRONOS is slowly leaving PC. There's simply very little reason to put up with bad frame rates and crazy lag. Lag is something I can understand when fighting Asia, US, EU in the same battle. But it is pretty bad in Dust.
Frame rate drops are just bad. CCP should feel bad. It makes us feel bad. |

Yup it's certainly something with PC itself that's causing this as these things are constant problems with PC yet only occasionally with other FW/Pub's. |

Sucks to see another corporation go.
Idk i rarely seem to experience lag in majority of the PCs i participate in..and to be honest, i didnt get any lag vs SL. I wish i could see what it was like on your screen while you were playing us because i feel like lag during a PC is universal among both teams involved...or at least I think it would be. The only corp I have experienced consistent lag against was SI.
I guess my only question is, if the lag was that bad..why did you continue to launch attacks against us or other corps that you knew the lag would be that bad against? If you felt like you were at a disadvantage because of it..wouldnt you attack another corporation to see if there wasnt as much lag? We had to have fought each other at least 20 times or so...and i realize you have no choice but to fight us when we were attacking your districts...but our attacks were launched because of your constant attacks against us.
Idk i hope this issue gets resolved. We had good fights, im sure they would have been better had you not been experiencing lag/framerate issues. Ive got respect for you guys because you always showed up and fought us and I hope to see you back in PC soon. |

Guess I'm not going to be posting any more walls of PC fight times on the LOI website involving SL. Couple of days ago there was like 7 battles with you guys in the span of a few hours, lol.
Got to participate in two SL PC battles last night (well technically early this morning), seemed like you guys had already given up by that point though, you didn't even fill your team. |

When we play you it's like we're playing in treacle, my gun takes forever to aim so the only way to kill is by taking you by surprise and hoping I can drop you before you turn. But you guys are far too good to be caught out often.
It becomes especially bad when we enter into the complexes or the cities. If you notice the games we have done better against you were when most of the fighting was on the outer points.
As for why we attacked you... you'll have to ask ROFL command, I'm just a simple squad leader. |

It was certainly fun fighting against you guys in SL. Although I have posted about ways to resolve the lag issues which were successful for us it is a shame that you didn't consider just not attacking if you were lagged out that badly. The other alternative would have been to attempt to become our allies rather than push so hard. Thanks for the ISK and the GFs, until next we meet. |

I'm Scrote, 2IC of TSOLE. I'd like to say Hi and comment as well on the events of the past weeks.
As a Corp we were able to box along for a while regardless of the issues that we all face in the PC community. When PC first launched we had a few battles against Imperfects and Nyan San. They were really tough opponents but seemed to leave us be and not push the initial attacks.
TSOLE fought many great battles and secured victories against a random spread of Corps at the beginning in Aeditide and neighbouring systems. Forgive me but I cannot remember all of them but they included D-rezzed, Dead Six Initiative, The3-ReSiStAnCe-SEC.0, Betamax and OUT FOR BLOOD.
Betamax invaded after picking up a disgruntled ex-TSOLE officer, claiming that he had been a spy the whole time - I doubt this and believe they spun that as a story to make them look good. The ex-officer had awoxed (solo) in one PC battle, which we lost. Betamax attempted a second attack but they were comfortably defeated and they ceased the offensive.
We assisted in securing Egbinger for our friends in ROFL.
We then had KAIBA Corporation invade TSOLE districts for a week, that was an epic battle that began with us getting our asses handed to us at first but it was a challenge we adapted to and eventually were able to overcome them and they gave it up.
TSOLE had a fairly intense war with ZionTCD and Ahrendee Mercenaries. They proved a worthy adversary for us and our own victories were sparse, they had a particular effective part of their strategy that we simply couldn't deal with despite our best efforts. They eventually were attacked by a third party and crippled and the war between us came to a close for the most part.
Ahrendee Mercenaries put up a great fight for our first battles that they won but after we eventually defeated them they didn't show up for the next one and we took a district. I'm not sure why, possibly they had their hands full elsewhere.
The battles so far had been quite exciting and matches could have gone either way. There was still all the problems we all know so well, loading screen freezes, bugged comms, and critical team members freezing at the start of battle. But we all get that.
It was about this stage that ROFL Alliance lost one of its strongest PC teams - the Pink Fluffy Bounty Hunterz. They had initially setup camp in Kadlina and owned about half the planet with TSOLE sharing the other half. Due to circumstances beyond my personal knowledge, the Corp had fractured in to two with most of their A-listers migrating to a new Corp. What was left in PFBHz was the more casual core and new members.
Left in a fragile state they then had three simultaneous attacks declared by Hellstorm Inc if memory serves me right. Hellstorm Inc easily claimed the three districts.
I sent a mail to Hellstorm's Exmaple Core at that point, someone I once met pre-PC and had squadded with for a few matches. "HOWDY NEIGHBOUR! Welcome to the neighbourhood!" and left it at that.
Outer.Heaven at this stage were launching lots of attacks in Osvetur against ROFL districts.
Our CEO Hunter Blake got the word from ROFL leadership to begin attacks on Hellstorm's Kadlina districts. This was the beginning of a three week all out War between TSOLE and KEQ vs Hellstorm Inc and Outer.Heaven. Later in the War "WarRavens" would join League of Infamy and also attack us.
Initial battles were blind, we had to learn and understand what we were facing. At the beginning trash mail was rife from Hellstorms side, as we prepared in the War barge each battle. Despite some Legionnaires strong desire to retaliate, for the most part we maintained our professionalism, there may have been the odd member that replied but leadership orders were to certainly maintain our professional integrity.
While we recognise trolling and trash talking as the valid meta-game tactic that it is, we usually don't bother with it.
The trolling and out of match hostility eventually simmered down as the War raged on, TSOLE still taking massive losses against a well-practiced and specialised opponent. Not only are Hellstorm a tournament-level skill opponent, they ran gear doctrine that was the polar opposite of ours. They had researched the most effective overall fit, they specialised a small number of very skilled and committed players and they outmatched us fair and square.
Well done Gentlemen.
Outer.Heaven and the LOI's newly acquired WarRavens had begun attacks on TSOLE districts as well by this point, when we defended or retaliated against these two Allies we noticed that Hellstorm/Purgatorium of the damned would field at least a full squad or more of ringers to assist them.
We also noticed attacks from The Tickle Monsters incoming, and didn't think much of it. We had faced these guys in pub matches and while they are decent we didn't expect too much of an issue and we actually looked forward to a fight we might win. On entering the War Barge for the first time against The Tickle Monsters we were greeted with a Nyan San-heavy ringer team lol. All battles fought against them had Nyan San ringers both defends and attacks, averaging about 9 members of the team. |

TSOLE was now under attack on two fronts. And to add a cherry on top we started to battle Seraphim Initiative as well.
The common achilles heel for us was that we were very much an Armour doctrine based team consisting mostly of Gallente Assault and Logistics and Amarr Heavies. In all cases when we consistently lost against an adversary the enemy was using a team stacked with Cal-Logi, and for good reason, running a team of Cal-logi offers the most versatile, mobile and self sufficient solo-hero-play possible.
Where as our assault core was slow and could only carry one equipment item, the enemy was more mobile, versatile, self sufficient and quick to self repair. If I'm correct there is a current bug that allows a Cal-logi to start repping shield 2 seconds from the first bullet that hits instead of the last?. A Cal-Logi can also drop multiple uplinks and nanohives with possible further options such as Nanite Injector, Proxy mines or Remote Explosives. I doubt that current Cal-Logis fill all the equipment, instead choosing to maximise shield tank allowing more time to run to nearest cover to wait that moment to hit full shield while his friends take ya down.
The thought of having our whole Corp respec to Cal-Logi doctrine did cross our minds early on to remain competitive but I personally was uncomfortable with asking that becuase surely it will be nerfed. Logistics currently does Assault better than Assault does. The last thing we want is our guys respeccing, then getting hit with a nerf bat - so we chose to do the best we could with the tools we had in anticipation of the upcoming Armour changes.
It was an interesting experiment.
None the less we look to be on the verge of utter defeat but we have had a lot of fun along the way. Our initial investment in PC has of course been returned with interest so that is nice. We fought our own war, you would be lucky to to find footage of a match that had a non-TSOLE corpie on the team line-up in the dozens of battles we fought against LOI. I know Jackal and myself are proud of how our guys conducted themselves, showing up to every battle (There was many) over the past 3 weeks. We may have lost every battle (Except one which was due to technical difficulties for Hellstorm) but I hope LOI respect us at least for not being chicken.
I like to think our guys showed commitment and integrity, the fact we have stuck with ROFL through thick and thin I think is testament to our loyalty in the face of our own destruction (In the PC sense).
Jackal maintained that PC battles should be an open opportunity to our whole corp. We did not restrict who was eligible to join in nor did we enforce fits and roles on people. This didn't help us when facing such a focused and experienced opponent but we hope that the members we cycled through got a taste of Dust's end-game.
For now TSOLE will return to the Oceanic and Asian servers for a few weeks carefree holiday as we await the Armour buff changes and opportunites it may provide. I am sure much revision of gear and tactics will happen as will a reformation of key personnel.
I do not make presumptions on Jackals behalf as to how this affects our current place in Rise of Legion, that is between himself and Mitauchi.
To LOI thanks guys, it was truly a pleasure to see how it's done :). My only regret is that my 5.86 KDR has now dropped to 4.7 thanks mostly to DJINN Punisher I beleive :P

It'll be nice to take a break, at least, from the ever present feeling that we were to lose Aeditide. It was a good home while it lasted.

To anyone I had the pleasure of versing during our PC, thanks for the great battles. I was one of the lucky people to receive the respec on time (well at least not months late) and decided to change from heavy to HAV. My first match as a HAV was a PC match against Zion to reclaim a district they had taken earlier, which we did successfully. With new found confidence, in my new role as HAV, I knew I had a long way to go. This is when the matches against Hell storm started, and I got to witness Example Core and his fellow HAV troop not only neutralize most mounted assaults but their tactical HAV fits consistently out gun my HAV. I took this challenge and continually tweaked my own fits. And let's just say PC is a expensive place to learn.
And thank you to our management for the opportunity to be apart of as many PC battles, im sure alot of Corp's would just run their A-team or get ringers when faced with such a great challenge but they kept their composure and made PC fun!
So I hope to verse fierce opponents in the future when our leadership decides to reenter PC |

Lots of respect for TSOL. I recall when Team Players finally got enough people to do some 8v8 back in chromosome you guys played some matches with us, helping us get a better view of competitive matches and made us that much better for it. I'm really sad to see you guys go especially now that we have gotten ourselves in the area!
I was hoping to check you guys out soon, of course due to your timers if would have to be a weekend for my guys, and if you guys hold out long enough I hope to set something up!
People try to metagame their way around everything it seems in PC..
Few can sit back and look at the simplest of facts. PC is where the competition is. Corps in PC play the game for the competition; well that and molding their team into a well oiled machine to take on opponents in a true team-based match.
I applaud all of RoFL for our experience here in the north. I am now aware you guys are at war with LoI and all that stuff, but we have had some really fun matches over here and looking forward to more!
TSOL when you guys are ready to return, please don't hesitate to hit me up and we'll do our best to get you some land and get you on the board! In the meantime I would suggest checking out Oddeluf or whatever it is.. planet fight club.
I know SI has a ton of districts there and if we can ever get that going it should be a lot of fun.

We will come back. We've all taken to restarting the PS3s before each match, separate comms channel to reeuce battle server load, we've all reinstalled the client, and cleared the caches. Nothing has worked.. and it's ONLY in PC we get hit by it.
Pub Matches, no matter what server we're on, have tolerable lag... (what we AU / NZ guys are used to anyway) that we can compensate for. |

Left in a fragile state they then had three simultaneous attacks declared by Hellstorm Inc if memory serves me right. Hellstorm Inc easily claimed the three districts.
Hellstorm/LOI were the ones that broke PFBHz. They attacked us multiple times and kept losing, and as retaliation for their attacks we decided to take their home planets. It was around this point they shattered and split apart. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=847718

Just to add to Scrote's TSOLE PC history, I'd also like to include some really good matches we had against The Unholy Legion Of Darkstar, it was very back and forth. We'd win a match and lose the next, we wore them them down took their district on Edbinger which The Tickle Monsters proceeded to relieve us of with the help of Nyain San.
Another corp that came out of nowhere and surprised us was The Sound Of Freedom, along with some ringers from Rogue Spades (if I remember correctly). The battles we had against them were on the bridge map with the Production facility, hell for us with lag. We managed to win one battle and in the next we must have had the server (for once) because we controlled the ground so convincingly?
By the way in last night's Hellstorm matches, we had a bet running to see if any of us could melee a DJINN to death. I got few good hits on Djinn Punisher before he was sniped :( |

Best PC battle ever btw. We had so much fun. Coms were nuts. I got close to maurader I think once, then got smg'd down. Eventually I just pulled out the shotty and got a couple kills. Had Kira really close twice with shotty but couldn't get in for the melee. Btw I had 5 melee kills earlier that day, Hellstorm is just to smooth lol |

LOL yeh that was pretty funny, we are a small corp who really doesnt have enough active members to field a full 16 man team but we were keen to get stuck in. We know and play with quite a few of the nyain guys often and a couple of members speak/are japanese so they were more than willing to help us out. The nyain guys really are a top notch bunch of players and the corp is keen to learn alot from these guys.
Sucks you guys are leaving, there are barely ANY aussie corps to fight in PC but even we have had annoying issues in PC and we have barely started so i get how you guys would have had enough after the time you guys put in. Hopefully after the issues are all ironed out you guys will be back in full force, its fun playing against you guys in pubs, Oceania is pretty barren otherwise lol. |

Well talks to some of the SL lads during the battle but no director online they told me they will pass it all on to em so they can get it sorted. Seemed keen on the idea. |

We have a saying..
If there isn't a member of TSOLE in your match... you aren't in Oceania anymore.
It holds true about 90% of the time... we are everywhere... |

I have experienced several instances of crippling lag. 50% server lag and the other 50 is awfully low framerate. I have a good eye for framerates and in those instances it was easily in the single digits for extended periods. Making the game unplayable. Especially when you're running, or trying to, from a heavy. Seriously, it was a powerpoint presentation with sputtery gunfire.
Restarting the system didn't help much. All the tricks and whatnot for comms didn't do much. I consider myself a good player, some will disagree and say I suck, and it sucks I am rendered, almost, useless through such things. Hopefully they can improve it with 1.2 and beyond to the point where we aren't at such a disadvantage. Some is fine. We can, and have, dealt with that. |

eventually all of us will go ppl losing interest in the game itself
personally i see fightclub as the only way to extend ppls interests a bit wish the old cb system was still around, wouldnt hav to worry about districts for fights such a dumb idea to take that out sigh |
