I'm Scrote, 2IC of TSOLE. I'd like to say Hi and comment as well on the events of the past weeks.
As a Corp we were able to box along for a while regardless of the issues that we all face in the PC community. When PC first launched we had a few battles against Imperfects and Nyan San. They were really tough opponents but seemed to leave us be and not push the initial attacks.
TSOLE fought many great battles and secured victories against a random spread of Corps at the beginning in Aeditide and neighbouring systems. Forgive me but I cannot remember all of them but they included D-rezzed, Dead Six Initiative, The3-ReSiStAnCe-SEC.0, Betamax and OUT FOR BLOOD.
Betamax invaded after picking up a disgruntled ex-TSOLE officer, claiming that he had been a spy the whole time - I doubt this and believe they spun that as a story to make them look good. The ex-officer had awoxed (solo) in one PC battle, which we lost. Betamax attempted a second attack but they were comfortably defeated and they ceased the offensive.
We assisted in securing Egbinger for our friends in ROFL.
We then had KAIBA Corporation invade TSOLE districts for a week, that was an epic battle that began with us getting our asses handed to us at first but it was a challenge we adapted to and eventually were able to overcome them and they gave it up.
TSOLE had a fairly intense war with ZionTCD and Ahrendee Mercenaries. They proved a worthy adversary for us and our own victories were sparse, they had a particular effective part of their strategy that we simply couldn't deal with despite our best efforts. They eventually were attacked by a third party and crippled and the war between us came to a close for the most part.
Ahrendee Mercenaries put up a great fight for our first battles that they won but after we eventually defeated them they didn't show up for the next one and we took a district. I'm not sure why, possibly they had their hands full elsewhere.
The battles so far had been quite exciting and matches could have gone either way. There was still all the problems we all know so well, loading screen freezes, bugged comms, and critical team members freezing at the start of battle. But we all get that.
It was about this stage that ROFL Alliance lost one of its strongest PC teams - the Pink Fluffy Bounty Hunterz. They had initially setup camp in Kadlina and owned about half the planet with TSOLE sharing the other half. Due to circumstances beyond my personal knowledge, the Corp had fractured in to two with most of their A-listers migrating to a new Corp. What was left in PFBHz was the more casual core and new members.
Left in a fragile state they then had three simultaneous attacks declared by Hellstorm Inc if memory serves me right. Hellstorm Inc easily claimed the three districts.
I sent a mail to Hellstorm's Exmaple Core at that point, someone I once met pre-PC and had squadded with for a few matches. "HOWDY NEIGHBOUR! Welcome to the neighbourhood!" and left it at that.
Outer.Heaven at this stage were launching lots of attacks in Osvetur against ROFL districts.
Our CEO Hunter Blake got the word from ROFL leadership to begin attacks on Hellstorm's Kadlina districts. This was the beginning of a three week all out War between TSOLE and KEQ vs Hellstorm Inc and Outer.Heaven. Later in the War "WarRavens" would join League of Infamy and also attack us.
Initial battles were blind, we had to learn and understand what we were facing. At the beginning trash mail was rife from Hellstorms side, as we prepared in the War barge each battle. Despite some Legionnaires strong desire to retaliate, for the most part we maintained our professionalism, there may have been the odd member that replied but leadership orders were to certainly maintain our professional integrity.
While we recognise trolling and trash talking as the valid meta-game tactic that it is, we usually don't bother with it.
The trolling and out of match hostility eventually simmered down as the War raged on, TSOLE still taking massive losses against a well-practiced and specialised opponent. Not only are Hellstorm a tournament-level skill opponent, they ran gear doctrine that was the polar opposite of ours. They had researched the most effective overall fit, they specialised a small number of very skilled and committed players and they outmatched us fair and square.
Well done Gentlemen.
Outer.Heaven and the LOI's newly acquired WarRavens had begun attacks on TSOLE districts as well by this point, when we defended or retaliated against these two Allies we noticed that Hellstorm/Purgatorium of the damned would field at least a full squad or more of ringers to assist them.
We also noticed attacks from The Tickle Monsters incoming, and didn't think much of it. We had faced these guys in pub matches and while they are decent we didn't expect too much of an issue and we actually looked forward to a fight we might win. On entering the War Barge for the first time against The Tickle Monsters we were greeted with a Nyan San-heavy ringer team lol. All battles fought against them had Nyan San ringers both defends and attacks, averaging about 9 members of the team. |

TSOLE was now under attack on two fronts. And to add a cherry on top we started to battle Seraphim Initiative as well.
The common achilles heel for us was that we were very much an Armour doctrine based team consisting mostly of Gallente Assault and Logistics and Amarr Heavies. In all cases when we consistently lost against an adversary the enemy was using a team stacked with Cal-Logi, and for good reason, running a team of Cal-logi offers the most versatile, mobile and self sufficient solo-hero-play possible.
Where as our assault core was slow and could only carry one equipment item, the enemy was more mobile, versatile, self sufficient and quick to self repair. If I'm correct there is a current bug that allows a Cal-logi to start repping shield 2 seconds from the first bullet that hits instead of the last?. A Cal-Logi can also drop multiple uplinks and nanohives with possible further options such as Nanite Injector, Proxy mines or Remote Explosives. I doubt that current Cal-Logis fill all the equipment, instead choosing to maximise shield tank allowing more time to run to nearest cover to wait that moment to hit full shield while his friends take ya down.
The thought of having our whole Corp respec to Cal-Logi doctrine did cross our minds early on to remain competitive but I personally was uncomfortable with asking that becuase surely it will be nerfed. Logistics currently does Assault better than Assault does. The last thing we want is our guys respeccing, then getting hit with a nerf bat - so we chose to do the best we could with the tools we had in anticipation of the upcoming Armour changes.
It was an interesting experiment.
None the less we look to be on the verge of utter defeat but we have had a lot of fun along the way. Our initial investment in PC has of course been returned with interest so that is nice. We fought our own war, you would be lucky to to find footage of a match that had a non-TSOLE corpie on the team line-up in the dozens of battles we fought against LOI. I know Jackal and myself are proud of how our guys conducted themselves, showing up to every battle (There was many) over the past 3 weeks. We may have lost every battle (Except one which was due to technical difficulties for Hellstorm) but I hope LOI respect us at least for not being chicken.
I like to think our guys showed commitment and integrity, the fact we have stuck with ROFL through thick and thin I think is testament to our loyalty in the face of our own destruction (In the PC sense).
Jackal maintained that PC battles should be an open opportunity to our whole corp. We did not restrict who was eligible to join in nor did we enforce fits and roles on people. This didn't help us when facing such a focused and experienced opponent but we hope that the members we cycled through got a taste of Dust's end-game.
For now TSOLE will return to the Oceanic and Asian servers for a few weeks carefree holiday as we await the Armour buff changes and opportunites it may provide. I am sure much revision of gear and tactics will happen as will a reformation of key personnel.
I do not make presumptions on Jackals behalf as to how this affects our current place in Rise of Legion, that is between himself and Mitauchi.
To LOI thanks guys, it was truly a pleasure to see how it's done :). My only regret is that my 5.86 KDR has now dropped to 4.7 thanks mostly to DJINN Punisher I beleive :P

DJINN Punisher, a drink would be awesome. Now to figure out how to cross the 6510 miles of ocean between us.
I read in another thread something about a replica of the Titanic being built in Aussie, maybe I could take that over.
I hear it's unsinkable...
My first drink will likely be a Whiskey with WhiskeyJack Otako in Dunedin though, I owe him a bottle of single malt Scotch. |
