So I'm going to throw this thread out here again and a simple yes or no answer will tell me how I should proceed with playing this game once I get my respect.
For Uprising you gave us a universal respect opportunity so that we could remake outselves with the new content, and when newer players, and some verteran players kicked up enough fuss you said you would give us an optional respect of re sort ourselves out.
Well when you release newer content like finally releasing the racial dropsuit, vehicle, and weapon varients will we all get respecs for our characters?
I want to pilot only Amarrian Tanks but the issue is that I don't want to risk my 7m SP (3 months of work) on a Gallente Tank (I hate those guys btw) because I need to practice armour tanking and hence forth and stuck with that ugly thing. That would break the game for me.
Will I have to hold onto my respec until new gear comes out or will I be able to practice with my new intended builds before that content is released? |

I'm curious about this as well, but for another reason. I want to run as Minmatar Heavy. However, without even knowing the stats and slot layouts I'm feeling quite trepidatious about where to spend my SP. |

Yeah I specced SCR before I even knew what it was all because it was Amarrian..... I need this! I NEED TO KNOW! |

As far as I'm aware, the answer is no. Before applying for the respec, I sent an email asking whether "one-time respec" meant that it would be the only respec, or whether it meant that I'd simply be ineligible for any future ones, and the response I got was something like "We do not plan to have another respec in the foreseeable future."
The following is purely speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt, but I think if people complain hard enough, we might be able to get SP transferred from existing vehicle/dropsuit skills to the missing ones. Wouldn't bet on it, though. |

But the issue is that CCP hasn't brought out all content on release and haven't done so yet even a month into release.... the player base should have been able to choose what gear they wanted right off of the bat but we haven't and still cant yet. |

Actually, we did NOT receive a respec in order for us to "remake ourselves". We receive a respec, as a simple customer service for a bad product. Basically many skills did not function as stated, for the skill points we committed.
Being able to remake ourselves was simply a side benefit of this. |

Fair enough but it seems like Im being forced to save this until CCP decides to get the dropsuit models in order. I can wait sure, but its irritating that I cannot play on a 3 month investment until they do. |

It IS rather annoying, but there's basically only three options:
Save up SP for when you can finally use it in the way you intend to
Try and convince CCP that another respec or skill transfer is in order due to the missing suits and ships. Highly unlikely, but possible
Spend the SP on the vehicle upgrade and turret operation skills you'll need when the remaining vehicles DO come out, and spend the ~220k SP or 300 Aurum/tank on getting the Gallente HAV to practice in until the Amarr ones come out. A bit more than one week's worth of SP. That or only buy the upgrade skills and save the rest. |

There will always be more content that hasn't been released yet and we won't be getting a new respec everytime some new thing comes out (field commander suits, proto HAVs, jets, MTACs); there'd have to be a respec every build for that and it's just not going to happen. |

Let me make this very clear for those who cannot seem to grasp this concept.
Having all Racial variants of all existing classes of Dropsuits and Vehicles across all Tiers (Basic Advanced and Proto) at the time of full release is basic content. Adding this missing Basic Content would warrant a respec as it should have been included in the full release.
Things such as New Dropsuit Classes (Commando, Pilot) new classes of vehicles (MTACS, JETS, Destroyer HAVs, Bomber Dropships) etc. are Expansions. These would of course not warrant a respec, however these should be added only as complete packages with all Racial Variants. |

This is 100% true. It's probably the biggest reason why the game seems broken. There's very little variety and it looks boring.
It's like playing an old BF42 mod, during a 0.3 release or something. Enemy team using the same vehicles.. that's really ****-poor on a real game.
You bet we deserve a compliamentary respec once we have everything in game. Otherwise, everyone is going to have a crapload of tech they just aren't interested in anymore. |

If one is Specced into the AR skill line, then one may use any variant of AR. There would not be a separate skill line for the Caldari AR, Minmatar AR, Amarr AR, and Gallente AR. Therefore when these variants are added all one would need to do is go purchase them from the market. However, if a new skill line were added for each variant, I would think a respec for the AR skill line to be in order.
However, where dropsuits and vehicles are concerned, each Racial variant has it's own skill line. So if I spec into Amarr Heavy or Gallente HAV simply because it happens to be the only choice I have, then imho when the other Racial variants are added along with the corresponding skill lines, i should be able to have those SP spent in the Amarr line refunded so that I may choose which Racial variant I prefer.
I hope that clears things up on where I stand on the matter. |

I see your concern but bare in mind that we have seen this happen before in Eve Online. When Eve first started, the following things were not available at the time:
1. Anything bigger than a battleship. 2. Specialized mining ships like the Hulk, Skiff, etc. 3. Tier 3 battlecruisers like the Talos, Oracle, Tornado, and Naga. 4. Tech 2 ships in general like the Oneiros, Jaguar, 5. Tech 3 ships like the Loki, Tengu, Legion, and Proteus. 6. Capital/Supercapital ship production. 7. Planetary Colonies controlled by Eve players.
Then there is the constant rebalancing of ship stats that continues to this day. Back then, a Hulk was able to compete against most cruisers until CCP nerfed the energy vamp modules. Back then, Dramiels were able to travel between points in space without warping because any ships was able to fit more than one micro warp drive before that got nerfed. Let's also not forget the epic Titan nerf.
This is just to name a few in a big list of things that were originally not there. The Eve Online back then only had about 30-40% of what you see now in Eve Online. However, over the course of ten years, Eve players were only given one free respec and that was it. Many players in Eve posted requests for optional respecs even to this day but CCP pretty much ignores them because the rest of the community knows how game-breakingly bad the idea is. It may allow fun and variety and more profit for CCP, but that idea will just go against the core principles of New Eden which is what CCP and its community tries to protect. The core principles are:
1. Adapt or die. 2. Don't use what you can't afford to lose. 3. Accept the permanent consequences of your choices.
There are many more rules than this in New Eden that can be adjusted accordingly between Eve and Dust, but these three are the most important and are as absolute as anything else. Changing these three core principles will take an act of god to occur. Sure, it will alienate a certain segment of the players (those who just play traditional shooters) who may not like being forced into accepting harsh consequences, but it will ensure the continued existence of the persistent universe because then every choice you make will mean something because one wrong move and you are forced to live with it for the rest of your life as a constant reminder of what not to do next time.
I don't mean to come across as rude to you or just appearing dense, but there are certain boundaries that shouldn't be crossed. I for one would never support any concept that will undermine the core principles of New Eden just for the sake of player retention. Sure, it will be profitable for CCP by getting more players, but it just doesn't go well with the principles. |

Just so you know, some Eve Online players requested the same thing and were largely ignored. I doubt CCP would treat you any different considering you are playing a free-to-play game and Eve players are the paying subscribers. |

There is also the fact that CCP will continue to add more things that will require their own separate skills that may not be racially linked at all like:
1. Cloaking modules 2. Siege mode modules for tanks 3. Mining Equipment 4. Surface infrastructure management 5. Wholesale buying and selling (market trading) 6. Production 7. Skills for improving ISK earnings like you see in Eve for mission runners
etc.
Again, these skills wouldn't require racial skills at all but will likely still require their own separate skills that you never invested in before. |

core upgrades/weapons.... i wasted so much sp in suits on my last setups before i respecd and still cant decided what suits to go for. i then spent all my sp in the weapons i liked and the core upgrades needed to fit the best modules and im doing really well. when my perfect suit arrives i will then go into suits but not till then.
my suggestion to you is do the same with tanks. use the basic ones with the best core fittings you can fit. its not ideal and will cost you some isk but it will allow you to get your practise in and when your tank arrives its just a case of skilling into it. if you have already done this then id suggest still doing it and stockpiling sp to pile into your race of tank as soon as it arrives |

Even then, what about the constant changes to current items in the game? Just recently I read a new article posted not to long ago on www.themittani.com regarding the recent rebalancing of industrial ships. Particularly the haulers where the author described his face palm moment as he was critical of the half-assed changes CCP did. No respecs were given so far. |

I'm not disagreeing but when EVE opened up shop I'm sure they had at least one frigate variant for each race didn't they?
I play EVE to so I know about the core principles the hard way.
I'm not complaining I just was asking CCP or hoping to get a response out of them regarding another universal respect like Uprising for future core content, however if you are telling me the respec was more about the skill mechanics than content then that's fine with me. |

My advice to you is just hold on to whatever unallocated SP you have right now and let it build up until your racial favorite gets here. It's what I would do. We already have the Amarr version of the AR, the Scrambler Rifle, and that has it's own separate skills, so your prediction here is already wrong. That said, I think more general skills should make up large sections of the skill trees (similarly to Eve), so you could skill into rifles and that would give access to all the racial rifle variants and then you could specialise into further variant specific skills from there. No more respec needed then.

I completely understand where you're coming from with all this and it is thrustrating but my above suggestion for weapons stands equally well for vehicles and suits - give us general light frame skills that then break down into scout, pilot, whatever else comes, and they cover all the racial variants. This would stop all the people asking for respecs for racial stuff that doesn't exist yet and then we'd just be left with the people making mistakes and not planning properly.
TL:DR - we don't need respecs, we need a better structured skill tree. |

3 months is still a long time though, worth waiting for the game to take that extra step up....but still a long time. |

I mean I'm pretty patient but I would like to know even roughly how long I'm going to have to wait to even be able to use the SP I have now. There is only so much 1.5 million Invested SP can allow me to do on the battlefield. Understood and agree - the OP got a little thrown off track. Indications are hopeful that it won't be too long though; the devs have been openly talking about the rifle racial variants and the latest level design dev blog had what looked like a gallente heavy suit pictured, so maybe in one of the Uprising iterations or surely the next big patch in ~3 months at the longest? Oh man I'll have to check that out thanks for the heads up. Where is this racial AR discussion? I'd be incredibly interested to read it. 3 months is still a long time though, worth waiting for the game to take that extra step up....but still a long time.
It is posted in the fanfest 2013 DUST keynote on YouTube. CCP posted the whole video there to see. They even showed racial variants of the nova knives and how the fighters will look like. |
