Other teams work on others things, so I don't know. ... Good points all around. They should start looking for people to blame when their own internal expectations are not being met... I see lots of conjecture and complaint from us... but I don't know their team size, experience with international projects, and all of that stuff. Do you think adoption of SCRUM for initial development has played a role in this?
[required snark] I can see the meeting where DUST 514 got green-lighted. "Let's see... we'll build our fist FPS, our first console title, the first FPS linked real-time to a PC MMO, our first development studio in the Far East, we'll build the studio from scratch, and we'll use a game engine we've never used before. Any of you guys know how to manage all that? No worries, what could go wrong?" [/required snark]

With the poor aiming now we have, we will need to disable EVERY FACTORS contributing to aiming problems to HOPE to fix it.
While I can agree lots need fixing -- I don't necessarily agree that we can always blame whatever elements of game play don't fit our own belief systems. |

Has nothing to do with KB/m vs DS3, the entire premise of capped movement/turn speeds is to balance out armor/heavy weaponry to thOse that dont. CCP Pokethulu said back in 2012, if a Scout gets close to a Heavy, the heavy would be in trouble because he cant turn fast enough to deal with it. Good concept that still works nicely, the more armor you don the slower youre maneuverability.
You take that away and the Shield vs Armor argument goes right out the window as Armor Tankers are suddenly gods and no onehas a reason to go Shield tank as Armor allows for greater survivability (though not necessarily sustainability). |

This really belongs in Feedback section if you need the most amount of developer visibility.

I'm secretly praying that CCP spit out Dust on the unreal engine in order to ensure a release date before the ps4 was announced.. and meanwhile, they've been developing their own game specific engine in tandem. |

I'm pretty sure that concepts like responsiveness and feedback simply haven't been on the list of goals to achieve with Dust 514 so far. Look at what CCP has developed before, look at how Eve was developed. You don't see truck manufacturers develop good sports cars without a few years of iteration and that's precisely what's going to happen here in the coming years.
Thanks for creating this thread, CCP needs to be made aware that the set of goals that carried Eve will not carry Dust. Everything in Dust is secondary to the most basic input mechanics whereas everything in Eve is secondary to it's sandbox mechanics.
It's sad that Team True Grit is the most verbal on this forum when in fact pretty much all of Dust's problems come from other areas. |

Thumb Green wrote:Personally I think CCP should just copy & paste the code for the controls from Chromosome into Uprising. Software development, it's a matter of what to copy and where to paste it, essentially. Or, maybe it's actually a lot more complicated
As for the OPs suggestions, half of them are to just downgrade the graphics, while a lot of people are bitching about the current graphics already, I don't think that's a realistic option. And what's wrong with mouse acceleration? If done right it's the best thing to have in an FPS, it lets you make slight aiming adjustments with pin point accuracy and fast turns all with the same mouse settings.
Generally, I think people should stop telling CCP how to write their game code and how to manage their projects, unless said people have developed games similar to Dust themselves. |

Crash Monster wrote:Shadow heat wrote:Very nice, no sure if CCP is going to take any notice, specially with the "Speed limits". Because according to some "idiots", using a mouse in a FPS game is cheating, sadly that is the people that CCP is listening to. LOL. Dude, people who don't have a mouse should not get pwned continously by people with a mouse... and that is not a "cheating" issue but a reality. Are the majority of PS3 players mouse users? Do we want to make the game less fun for the vast majority of PS3 owners just so mouse users can have an advantage? Maybe, if you think that will help the game success instead of just helping people who use a mouse to succeed. I'm guessing that is where the fix came from... it wouldn't be because some people considered it "cheating". Seriously, can people at least put a bit of effort into these things? Make an argument for having mouse users completely destroy non-mouse users on a console game or something... that's all you need to be able to do. EDIT: The only area I'm personally aware of this effect is in sniping... as that's my predominant play style. If it didn't apply to other suits and fittings then if a fix was needed it could be limited to where it is truly needed (if that is technically feasible).
Simple really. Get a KB/M yourself. Problem solved. Don't blame us because you refuse to fight in a wheelchair.
stlcarlos989 wrote:Cass Barr wrote:As Aeon alluded to, #9 is to prevent mouse users from running circles around DS3 users, and forcing their usage in competitive matches.
Normalizing turning speeds across all suits and control methods is a wholly different can of worms. The easy fix is to admit this is a console game and not have 3 different controller types. Sorry KBM and PS Move users but you're hurting the game by forcing CCP to balance 3 control inputs. The vast majority of dust players use the DS3 because it is available to everyone who has the PS3, while only a small percentage of people are using KBM and PS Move. I know PC gamers who are on dust will crucify me for saying this but its true and catering to such a small minority of the game's population is the main reason for these sluggish controls.
If CCP wants to get rid of KB/M, they should just do it so I know they don't take this game seriously as a shooter.
Absolutely no FPS is serious without KB/M controls. |
