Which are the dozen or so games would you recommend to play instead of DUST? (reasons about what they do better/worse would also be helpful) 1.Pick a popular FPS game. 2.??? 3.Profit Everything from graphics to gameplay is subpar in Dust514. The only part done right is the customization of dropsuits and menus.
Which do you recommend people try and why? Honest question. Pretend there are people who don't play as many FPSes as you seem to, heck I'm sure there are people who have only tried DUST.
Please list the Dozens (or at least half a Dozen), Multi-player FPS you'd recommend and why. |

Battlefield 3 --> I would say Battlefield 2142 because its my favorite, but its dead already Has good shooting, good graphics, good mechanics, good customization, its just an all around great game.
Team Fortress 2 ---> Probably the most properly balanced game ever made. Can extract hours of fun out of it.
Planetside 2 ---> Dust 514 done right is Planetside 2 in a nutshell
Call of Duty 4, 7 ---> These are the best COD games IMHO. Say all you want, but mechanically its great all around. Probably got the best aiming system for controllers. Just mute everyone when you enter a lobby, or prepare to find out that half the world has fornicated with your mom.
These are the best multiplayer shooters IMHO, they are all mechanically good. There are also many awesome single player shooters, including Half Life 2.
Note, these are just the best. If you want something that is better than Dust 514, then even things like Medal of Honor Warfighter beat it. Which is sad. |

Okay... thanks for the rundown.
I'll probably look at PlanetSide 2 since I know its up and has a community (provided my PC supports it), and I'm pretty sure TF2 is still chugging along, are the rest of those "alive"? (their communities not wether the game is playable) I'm asking because you mention Battlefield 2142 being your favorite, but its dead.
I know one of the reason we all hold out hope for Dust514 is that there won't be a "DUST514 2" (DUST515?). |

Battlefield 3 is the latest BF game until BF4 comes out, so yes its alive. Battlefield 2142 has a small but EXTREMELY dedicated following to it, for a good reason. If you're going to try this game make sure to be ready to have your ass handed to you, because these guys know every trick. COD 4 has a very dedicated following to it, and for a good reason, it was one of the best COD games ever created. COD 7 still has a bit of a following since its the last COD game created with a mapping philosiphy similar to COD 4. |

Not really. PS2 is a good game but it's definitely not what Dust 514 is aiming for. PS2 wants to be an MMOFPS (simply put, a large scale persistent BF3) while Dust 514 wants to be a MMORPG FPS. That's a huge difference:
In PS2 you get certs to unlock one-time upgrades, weapons, and attachments for your character, just like in games such as Battlefield 3. In Dust 514 you train skills to improve stats and meet requirements for new gear which you need to buy on the market or find during battle. There is inventory management, ingame currency, etc. like in most MMORPG games we know of. |

Terra Thesis wrote:A'Real Fury wrote:It doesn't have to matter to you that player count is dropping but why would you care or critise someone who is concerned about it? Kitten wants the game to succeed and player count is an important factor in this. The people who should be most concerned with this is CCP as it is their money on the line. because the **** posters aren't content to merely discuss it in a topic called "is dust going die?" they're spamming the forums with these threads and hijacking all the other ones so no one can talk about anything other than their personal opinion. what if me and 15 other guys posted non stop about the dust 514 best of e3 nomination, filled up the front page, and hijacked every thread with "doesn't matter guys, dust 514 got nominated for best of e3." we're talking about this because the **** posters have won, and have forced us to talk about it. I'd rather discuss creative ways to use the active scanner or something, but i know i have to first Wade through a wall of trolls first. I'm really trying to understand the attitude that "i love this game so I'm going to sabotage it so that the developers panic and start making it better." uh, sorry. i don't see that being helpful.
I agree the sheer number of these threads is a bit much and creating threads just so you can say Dust is **** or Dust is that helps no one on the forum. I would have been happy with a few threadnoughts instead where people provided constructive critisms on what they thought of dust, its' problems and future or at least what they felt was going wrong. However, forums are made up of a pretty diverse group of people and you are going to get lots of people who will just post something like Dust is **** and nothing else.
But responding in a similar off-hand fashion does not help your position anymore than my first reaction when I see certain posts. I understand why you are frustrated but really was there any point responding to this thread and basically saying "I don't care so why should you?".
I do agree that just s*** posting as others have done is bad for the game and shouldn't be accepted. Nor should we be high jacking completly unrelated threads for this discussion and I have been fairly annoyed at seeing this happen. But there have been several threads which do contain constructive feedback both positive and negative.
I doubt these threads and our comments will panic the Devs but the more useful ones may give them something to focus on. What may panic them is people just stop playing in large numbers and don't bother providing any reason to why they left. Feedback constructive or not is useful as a guide if you see a corresponding reaction within the game e.g. AFKing, not using particular weapons, or not logging in. |

Bro/Sis, have yo considered possibility that you acctually created this future, simply by wanting it to happen? We use to think we have no influence on our future. And yet we create it with our thoughts alone. Others' people thought shoukd be taken into account too of course. From this POV it is you and likeminded people who are responsible for this apparent "disaster". You literary ruined this game by wishing it bad
Thanfully there are alternative versions of this future to materialise But you'v chosen yours already... Wait... you can change your mind any time. There is always time for it

my first post in this thread wasn't bitching about the bitching. it was a very specific response regarding the perceived need to grind (specifially, afk grind) in Dust 514.
by the time we got around to the part of the conversation i think you're referring to, it wasn't "shut up about player counts", it was "what do player counts have to do with the preceding points in this discussion" |

For me reality is consensual perception. So while negative outcomes are possible I always hope for the best but it does not mean we should ignore the reality we all make together. However if you perceive reality solely through your own mind then it is not possible for another to ruin this game for you.
If you believe in consensual reality then simply convince the majority of your point of view and the perception of this game will change. However entropy or negativity if you prefer is not a bad thing just a simple function of nature and should be celebrated. Change good or bad contributes to growth and a deaper understanding of our personal and social realities. |

I'm not against giving feedback, especially if it's not accompanied by excessive ranting, trolling, and attention-seeking. In fact, I clicked "like" on one of OP's other posts which I thought much more well written. I believe it was titled something like "the cat is not pleased"...
However, I still think the most important piece of feedback is whether or not you continue to play. This registers on CCP's metrics more directly than any other means of communication. If you stick around but trash up the forums, you're not really accomplishing anything except getting in the way of other players that do enjoy the game. |

I have to agree with cat.....
I have capped out with boosters every week since they gave us a cap.
I have played this game for a long time, I have played with every possible class, vehicle and weapon.
And to see it become this stale repetitive grindy clunky fps that it is sucks on so many levels.
I used to wake up and say " **** I better hurry and smoke and drink my coffee so I can play dust".
Now I wake up look at my ps3 and say " do I have any pc battles? No? Ill go watch the news"
I miss "dust 514" I wish I could go back in time and play chromosome.
But alas here we are in uprising with more glitches, bugs and lag than ever before.
If you wany to know what the current state of dust is look at the imperfects, the #1 corp in dust said "**** it" this game sucks lets go play dc universe. That is something I never thought I would see. |

I do in fact agree with your statement but in essence all I was saying is that you are going to find people, especially on forums, who will be less constructive in their criticisms and while that is annoying for us it may still be useful for CCP in a very basic way when they do link it to the player statistics for the game.
At the end of the day we can not stop or filter some of the people who post rubbish on the forum so it might be better to ignore the threads that annoy you rather than responding in kind even if we are equally pissed.
If your post helped you then no harm no foul as I doubt it had much of an impact on the OP. I just felt the response was a little OTT otherwise I probably wouldn't have responded either. |

I love how the first reaction of CCP was to shut down the discussion and ignore the obvious.
Or was that kind of thing getting in the way of sales? |
