After going through YT to watch E3 clips. I have an understanding of where DUST will be when all these awesome games release... DUST will be in the trash and CCP will be forced to hang their heads and put their full effort towards EvE, where it should be because they fail at providing even a basic FPS. Not only is this game bad, but i pretty much have to re learn how to play every other good FPS because this game has me all jacked up.

I disagree strongly with your point OP. I am confident that DUST will not die out in the coming months, or years, and that it will continue to grow. Not perhaps at a pace that makes it the largest player count game, because it was never about that. Instead DUST will be aiming for the same thing EVE has been, a dedicated slowly growing base of players that are aiming for a unique experience, one DUST is still working to provide in meaningful ways that other shooters will not be. I'm fairly confident that DUST will still be around when these other games are gone, and their sequels are coming along. I may not have been a player last e3, but I did have the ability to browse the forums and I remember much the same thing as last year, doom and gloom threads that Dust wouldn't be around this time next year. And it's still here, and so are these same doom and gloom threads.
Go ahead and declare the demise of DUST all you Kitten well please, I am a patient sort, and can wait to see what comes of it. Just like every other time. |

And soak up all dat SP in the process ;-)
BTW, I agree.
To put things into perspective. I hate EVE because it's space ships, but love the concepts put in place with meaningful decisions and lack of kiddy gloves. As dust matures and becomes more aligned with these sorts of mechanics I can only see my enjoyment growing.
Am I a CCP fanboi? I don't think so, otherwise i'd love Eve.
Do I think their vision is aligned with what I'm looking for in a game? Yes. |

What precisely is this unique experience? Everything there is to do, you can do in one day. This game is very repetitive, the environments just change slightly.
The only incentive to play this game really is to make your character more developed, so you can do the same thing with different stuff.
Also, getting run over repeatedly stops being unique pretty fast. |

This game barely changed since Open Beta and what we have now. If this is all they can extract from the PS3, i doubt it will be any better on next gen.
Slow doesnt work on a console. You sell a $60 game and give instant gratification for the customer by offering a complete game that has the majority of the core mechanics nailed down, and when there are serious problem it is fixed within the month of it being found. You also have a running list of patch notes which have a due date that everyone can look forward too... even 1 week in advance is better than nothing. But regardless, you dont leave any changes out of the Patch script, because thats wrong.
Jut maybe if the Chinese didnt have so many random holidays, they might get something done.
Edit: You are Dust Uni anyways, nothing but scrubs. |

DUST 514 might look like it's a failure to short sighted and impatient people with unrealistically high expectations and seemingly little understanding of the vision that CCP is trying to build. With a little bit of forward thinking and the unbunching of butt clenched panties, such people might be able to appreciate what they are part of...or not. :)
I have been lucky enough to have been in the beta since E3 last year and have watched it grow and change. It has been an extremely interesting experience to be a part of something like this, a pioneering milestone in gaming technology and game design. It's not every day that an opportunity like that comes up, certainly in my experience. To see a console shooter change and evolve like it has since E3 build to Uprising has been an awesome journey to follow. I'll keep following it too, as CCP builds our sci-fi play ground. Other games will come and go, TLOU, Beyond, maybe Destiny, maybe PS2...but I'll always play DUST because I want to be where it's headed and I don't have unrealistically high expectations of when CCP should deliver this. So that's me...chilling out and watching CCP build its own digital sandcastle. |

I like the part where they talk about how things work with a $60 game as they slam a free one. Good times. Time will tell if Dust works out. I certainly don't think the game will be worse off with one less troll.
I don't think I've ever seen a game get so many people to talk about how they're "leaving" or "some other game is better" better. If you don't want to play... no one's forcing you. |

I like how everyone points out that $60 game gets patches so quick and all that.
Really? How many of those patches are content patches? How many games have you bought that released new maps, guns, skins, and vehicles on a regular basis?
Now how many of those games gave you all that for free?
And finally, how many of those were released more than a year after the game was released?
The standard retail model is: release game A. A few weeks later release bug fixes and some pay-for DLC. A couple of months later release more DLC that costs money. Then just keep the servers on so people can play.
CCP has plans to be releasing new CONTENT for FREE for years to come. I mean you could be playing Modern Warfare 12 while we're still here playing DUST. But at the rate they release new CoD games that could be sooner than we think. |

this game has potential to be an awesome and unique experience... if and only if CCP can deliver on all the hype they have made...
Meaningful EVE-DUST connection... largest single economy in gaming history... industry... PVE content... MCC Commanders... unique maps for EVERY district on most of the 30k+ planets...
none of this are currently implemented, and they have made no announcements on when outside of "SOON TM" ... i can see it now, game of the year; 2015...
i love EVE, and have been a massive fanboy for many years, but DUST has done little to live up to the hype with uprising expansion... |

My unrealistically high expectations consist of: 1) Not getting caught on velcro walls and tops of steps 2) Not being on a team of 15 militia afkers facing 16 proto-equipped storm troopers 3) Bullets that don't vanish into wormholes at range +1m

This game gets old, FAST. None of the levels really make you want to explore the environment. Everything is so open and thrown everywhere that everyone who cares about the objective goes for the shortest route possible, and does so just fine. Compare this to the many different paths you could take in B3 while playing Rush. Every path is unique, yet not limited.
It doesn't help that every game mode takes place on the exact same maps with no noticeable variation. Compare that to B3, and how the different game modes change which part of the map you will be on. With B3, every game mode is it's own experience depending on which map you are on. I'm not even in a clan, nor do I have Premium on B3, yet I've been playing it and having an amazing time for the past year and a half.
I like the potential that this game has, but right now all it's got going for it is customization. |

Unless the map are dynamic and randomly generated the they are the same every time. Just like DUST, I am not arguing the fact that it may be more fun. My point is that they are the same just like every other fps. The maps are memorized and then the "best" way is to do something is played over and over. Just like DUST. The maps may seem larger or smaller but they are static and offer nothing as far as surprises. Just like DUST. I am frustrated just like everyone else about the lack of maps and with sub par basic mechanics but we shouldn't criticize one game that follows the same trend as every other game in it genre. |

Everytime you play that game mode on that map, sure they are the same, but you can't tell me you get the same experience playing team deathmatch on Operation Metro as you do playing Rush on Operation Metro. The map flow is way different, for obvious reasons. The map flow in this game is not different depending on the game mode.
For the most part you see the same crap all the time. If you play one map, you've seen everything on that map regardless of the game mode. In B3, what you will see and get familiar with in one game mode will be vastly different than if you played another game mode on the same map. Am I being clearer? |
