Not perhaps at a pace that makes it the largest player count game, because it was never about that. Instead DUST will be aiming for the same thing EVE has been, a dedicated slowly growing base of players that are aiming for a unique experience, one DUST is still working to provide in meaningful ways that other shooters will not be. I'm fairly confident that DUST will still be around when these other games are gone, and their sequels are coming along. I may not have been a player last e3, but I did have the ability to browse the forums and I remember much the same thing as last year, doom and gloom threads that Dust wouldn't be around this time next year. And it's still here, and so are these same doom and gloom threads.
Go ahead and declare the demise of DUST all you Kitten well please, I am a patient sort, and can wait to see what comes of it. Just like every other time.
What precisely is this unique experience? Everything there is to do, you can do in one day. This game is very repetitive, the environments just change slightly.
The only incentive to play this game really is to make your character more developed, so you can do the same thing with different stuff.
Also, getting run over repeatedly stops being unique pretty fast. |

So your point is that it plays like every other fps in history? Or that it plays like every other game in history. All games are repetitive, no exceptions. Other may be more than one way to do something but the actual game play is the same for every game ever made. Start game, win/lose and repeat. They just add things before repeat.[/quote]
This game gets old, FAST. None of the levels really make you want to explore the environment. Everything is so open and thrown everywhere that everyone who cares about the objective goes for the shortest route possible, and does so just fine. Compare this to the many different paths you could take in B3 while playing Rush. Every path is unique, yet not limited.
It doesn't help that every game mode takes place on the exact same maps with no noticeable variation. Compare that to B3, and how the different game modes change which part of the map you will be on. With B3, every game mode is it's own experience depending on which map you are on. I'm not even in a clan, nor do I have Premium on B3, yet I've been playing it and having an amazing time for the past year and a half.
I like the potential that this game has, but right now all it's got going for it is customization. |

My point is that they are the same just like every other fps. The maps are memorized and then the "best" way is to do something is played over and over. Just like DUST. The maps may seem larger or smaller but they are static and offer nothing as far as surprises. Just like DUST. I am frustrated just like everyone else about the lack of maps and with sub par basic mechanics but we shouldn't criticize one game that follows the same trend as every other game in it genre.
Everytime you play that game mode on that map, sure they are the same, but you can't tell me you get the same experience playing team deathmatch on Operation Metro as you do playing Rush on Operation Metro. The map flow is way different, for obvious reasons. The map flow in this game is not different depending on the game mode.
For the most part you see the same crap all the time. If you play one map, you've seen everything on that map regardless of the game mode. In B3, what you will see and get familiar with in one game mode will be vastly different than if you played another game mode on the same map. Am I being clearer? |
