What parameters are restricting you? Do you mean you have parameters that you have to work within at CCP so you can't share what you're working on with us, or do you mean you have some sort of parameters imposed by Sony not allowing you to create a passable FPS?
In either case saying that you are "working within the parameters that we have" is pure lip service BS, and you know it.
Honestly, people are willing to forgive when someone legitimately apologizes for a mistake- and Uprising in DUST 514 is a HUGE mistake. However, when you try to make empty excuses for why you fail (such as "working within the parameters that we have") then people will eat you ALIVE. You should know better than most- from having dealt with a game in EVE that has trolling at its core- that you should NEVER give someone more reasons to criticize you when they already have so very many.
So, CCP- GET THE **** TO WORK buttercup :) |

Cyn Bruin wrote: It isn't the same people crying/asking for improvements to core FPS play.
It is alot of the newer players now, look at your forums.
If you decide to ignore your 6k fan base now, who will be left to play the game in 6 months?
PLEASE... Communicate to us patch notes weeks in advance (other games do it).
PLEASE... Let us know what you plan to do about core FPS game play that is lacking (aim, hit detection, terrain grabbing).
PLEASE... Let us know your plans for the PS4 in straightforward terms. Do not IMPLY, tell us "YES OR NO" if Dust will be on PS4.
Next-Gen starts today... E3 is where hype is built. Now is the time to definitively state that CCP will port DUST to PS4.
I've been apart of this game for 14 months as a beta tester. If it wasn't entertaining I would have quit along time ago. I have paid alot of money, just in beta, to help you guys out.
This game "still" has a ton of potential. But if you don't plan on porting this game to the PS4 in a reasonable time, there is no point in hanging around.
Please answer the simple question... Is DUST 514 going to PS4 within a year or not?
Thanks,
Your once Dedicated Customer
Cyn, I hate to break your heart. They haven't even started thinking PS4 yet. They are however, working very hard on improving the game. There is a patch nearing completion (less than 2 months) but I doubt they'll tell us more than 2 weeks in advance. |

Thank you for attempting to create an informative dialogue with the playerbase on the forums. This is something I have been wanting more of from CCP.
However, I do have to admit, it would be nice if it were more than a one line update (with info that should be a given). Is there any possibility of us getting a stickied road map thread?
Sharing info with the playerbase isn't going to jeopardize the game, if anything, it will make things better for all involved.
In closing, I thought the saying was "suck it up buttercup". |

The game is in desperate need of updates and fixes and you agree. That's good a lot of devs seem to think the game is the best game ever made already. I'm glad to have someone like you calling it for what it is.

Just come out and tell us that this whole FPS thing is way over your heads and that you won't have a good core FPS experience until a good 3-5 years from now.
Lets face it, this game was great in 2009 now PS4 is here and you all can't compete.
This game won't die but it sure won't be what we all had hoped for back in 2009. |

This game won't die but it sure won't be what we all had hoped for back in 2009. Give it one year, that's all Dust has to get up to speed, lets be honest. PvE, full suits, maps for each race, racial MCCs, evrything. Why doesn't the map in the war barge work? Why is everything caldari? no ammar war barge?
Dust doesn't eve have MTaCs or Fighter jets yet. Fighter jet PvE....
16vNPCs, fighter jet combat. Or 24v24 air v air battles over a gas gaint. Dust could be awesome but At least the core of the game. All it's main modes, like sandboxy mode where fighter jets are useful need to be done.

In 2 months we can expect to be told they are indeed working on something on the horizon.
The fanboys will then descend on those who notice that they have heard this 90 times before and still haven't seen anything, and attempt to silence them by saying that its hard to develop video games and CCP is working on it. |

CCP Mintchip // Twitter - @CCP_Mintchip Dust 514 Community Rep You are legitimately not helping.
So now that I have a little more time, I'd like to expand on this. Mostly because I want to save everyone well-deserved grief and instead shift the grief back into the normal realm of the completely undeserved.
The Eve community doesn't have a very high opinion of you as a community advocate, Mintchip, but realistically I don't know that anyone really cares. The people at CCP decided to pay you money to do something, and far be it from people to tell you that you shouldn't do it. My personal exposure to you has been in the form of two 1 quarter segments of some of your Eve videos more than a year ago. I couldn't take the absurd perkiness nor the typical videos-for-the-masses condescension in the form of offensive numbers of jump cuts.
Here's a real heart-to-heart about the people with whom you're interacting and why the spin-laden perkiness is the best way to make yourself a non-entity to the players here.
Dust 514 is a niche game with concurrent player numbers averaging around 6k daily. Of the unique users who play the game, it's evident that a very small proportion of them participate on these forums. On top of that, many of the guys here on the forums have been playing Dust 514 for coming up to 14 months. Let's be honest: probably longer than you've even imagined getting a job working on Dust 514.
Release cycles with Dust have consistently been disappointments for a number of reasons. One of the most cited? A two steps forward, one step back philosophy.
The people here don't want to hear the empty platitudes that you're spouting simply so that you can go to your new boss at the end of the day and say "I did something." If that's what you want to do for the rest of your experience here on the Dust community team, go ahead. But all it's going to do is put people's backs up and relegate the public's perception of you here into the "ignore when you see the name" category. Pretending that everything's going great is condescending and moderately delusional. You have very few new faces here to please, and even if you did you'd be washed out by the current detritus strewn around the forums.
Want to make a real community impact? Go get a few more hours sunk into the game, and while you're doing that try communicating to the players here like they're actual people, rather than a bunch of zombies who will instantly perk up at a few empty promises. Nobody's asking you to be as glum as the typical bitter"vet" here, but acting like a member of a company rather than a YouTuber trying to get the random passerby to subscribe to your channel is the place to start. I guarantee that you will be insanely more effective at your job.
So to round it out, that's why I made my above post. It's great that you landed a job with some of the most insane people in video gaming at CCP. More forum communication from CCP? Always fantastic...when there's enough content in your communication to merit it being there. You're trying, and I appreciate that, but you are legitimately not helping.

From my interpretation. My translation is a little rusty but I'll try and help a guy out.
"Video game developer drama is like a soap opera to me. I can't get enough out of the verbal debauchery that we have entangled ourselves in Mintchip.
But alas, you are but a newb. You don't understand Eve or me. Eve and I have had an affair for nearly a decade. I'm not ashamed but I feel you should know. You deserve that much at least. If you loved Eve the way I did you'd understand. Otherwise it is impossible for you to do your job." |

Couldn't agree more with this post. I'm growing tired of CCP kryptic transparency. The business that I always go back to and will always recommend to people are the ones that are honest and upfront with their communication. I want to still believe in CCP but they're making hard with each passing day. If you guys are under house NDA's about the stuff we're asking or commenting about then just say so. Excuse me... Honey... but i'm done.
CCP has literally screwed the pooch over the past year with all the dumb changes made to this game.
I don't think I've ever played an FPS where the core mechanics were this fkd up. CCP Shanghai should feel bad.
E3 is a stark reminder of just how bad and out of date DUST is...
You were added as a CCP rep. how long ago? 1 week? So a response like what you gave is quite flippant and based in ignorance.
Been here for 14months and the game still sucks... |
