Just read it, Its a fair review. The reviewer is not lying or exaggerating about anything. The game is lacking in some respect.
My biggest gripe atm is the SMG. I like to run around with a swarm launcher and SMG (To shoot the murder taxis), because as useless as the SMG is, it is less useless than the scrambler pistol. I assume I need to have 1 million SP in sidearms in order to have the SMG actually be somewhat useable. To me, this is unexcusable. So I need to play for a month or something to get a usable machine gun?
WTF is CCP thinking? I blame it on Shanghai, the game was made in China, maybe the Chinese are used to sub par shooters, which means that to Chinese players this is a AAA shooter.
That said, I do like the game and do have fun playing it. |

Lots of valid criticisms, lots of mistaken criticism, and nothing to show that the reviewer experienced any of the depth that keeps lots of us playing.
That said, I'm sure that it accurately reflects what most new players think of the game.
If CCP read this they could focus on what it got wrong or missed out: no, the best gear isn't Aurum only, you don't have to spend ISK to fight, there is flow to the maps, you need to join a corp, you didn't try tanks & dropships & sniping and nova knives, etc.
They would be doing themselves a disservice though: they should read this and say "if that is what new players think of the game, we're never going to get them to see all the good stuff we've got waiting for them".
Hopefully they are thinking like this though: the NPE thread gives me hope anyway. |

I've been reading Edge since the 90's. their slick covers with big Exclusives dryer up around 2000.
Since then they have thought of themselves as some sort of upperclass independent reviewers. I can barley read one of their articles without seeing there constant repetition.
But let's be honest, since they are now part of Future Media Group, everything they print is printed else where through syndication. They even tried their hand at being an authority in programming, but thankfully that didn't last long.
Most of the Computer Games magazines you get on the shelves now are lacking editorily as well. I only buy one when it has a dlc included. That way it isn't a total right off.
My current favourites are CVGand Eurogamer, they actually think about what they write, we'll not so much CVG, but Eurogammer do actually try to use correct grammar and a decent vocabulary. Shame most of the UK mags are now just soft **** and sensational/shocking rubbish masquerading as an intelligent read. But that's their audience now. Boobs and Guns anyone? Might as well just buy the Sun. |

This is an odd review.
For the most part ZERO punctuation does all video game reviews them and i know he would hate Dust. He hates all FPSs and MMOs.
The Escapist (which does a crap ton of advertising for Dust and EvE) review seems a bit like CCP payed them off. |

Yeah, I think so. Aiming is like hard and stuff. Granted, Im still a noob. Ive turned the sensitivity all the way to 0 and the aiming reticule still jumps around like a crazed walabi. |

In its current state Dust is a pretty mediocre shooter. its not brilliant.
If you rate it on its potential then its a lot higher but thats in the next 2,3,4 5 years time. atm theres a ton of bugs, broken weapons and half the content isn't available and has a limited amount of game options.
For the general FPS Grunt its awful, for the smart guys who want meaning to their shooters it's ideal, it'll take several years to get running right and it'll not come into its own until the PS4 and it faces competition from likes of destiny.
we just have to sit back, put up with the bad as well as the good and when rest the folk jump on the bandwagon we'll have 30mill more sp  |

Really? I feel the opposite. Already poured 100+ hours into PS2 WITHOUT clan mates, once my clan jumps to PS4 and PS2 I really think I will enjoy it that much more. |

Well duh they released the beta, people don't know that 3 more heavies are coming, or that PvE is a huge part of the game. Hell we don't even have trading. The table doesn't show the map you are going to fight on. There are still some really simple bugs and racial bonus issues to iron out asap. *like armor tanks having shield bonuses because they don't have the code to change it*
Listen dust is going to be awesome, but last biuld was not the real open beta. How could it have been? PC wasn't it in. PC, a major center feature wasn't included in the beta test? And people lost millions of isk to flaws and bugs? That's exactly what a beta is for. Beta is always useful for before you release all the races.
Also the face creator is coming at some point but god knows when.
People don't get how awesome Dust is going to be, they are judging what they see right now.
oh, and that's their right the review is spot on. And dust is my favorite game of all time. I would give my favorite game of all time, a 6/10, so yeah that's my position on it :/ |

So the game is still a beta, even though it has been released for almost a month and publicly available for around 4. It's really cute how people are hanging on to the same 'it's a beta' garbage that they were almost a year ago. |
