Why would you shame people for employing one of the few ways to enjoy this broken game?
Are you mad that not everyone splurges out of their jeans over DUST?
I don't even play, so I feel more on the side of the MCC afk'ers. Maybe if the game was worthwhile and fun to play we wouldn't have people spending time in the MCC... |

- GETH If the game is boring, why be on it at all? Why not play something more interesting? You are screwing up other player's games with your presence and lack of contribution. If you don't want to play, get out, or get shamed. Stop afk'ers? No, no intention of stopping them, and if friendly fire was enabled, I'd be shooting them. We're going to lose the match anyway, might as well get it done quickly, right? No, my intention is merely to shame.
l see lots of newer players afk'n cause they recognize this whole weekly sp cap is a trick to get them by boosters on. One guy told me met his cap doing that, and he sounded so bummed out it. Why do these threads never talk about that? People playing alongside new guys instead of afk'n doesn't address anything, especially that new people lack the resources to play at their full capacity in the roles they wish. They won't have fun just riding in the wake of a pubstomp, or whatever crap.
and also I wish friendly fire was on in the mcc i'd drop you all you clowns going 5/11 and then shooting at me like it was my fault. |

In this case, if players are afk for a period, with FF enabled, they could be considered as assisting the enemy by refusing to fight, in which case they BECOME the enemy. Perhaps some way of sending them to the other team should be implemented if they are detected as afk for too long, or to a third 'team' of afk'ers that can be shot legally by everyone and anyone.
While I am sure it isn't the case, I'm gonna give AFK'ers an excuse.
Perhaps they are Roleplaying. Perhaps, they were hired by a corp to take a district from another corp. Since there are currently no mechanics in place to facilitate this, they afk, so as to gimp their team and cause a potential lose.
Since they can't be paid by the other corp for causing a loss, they RP that the ISK they receive at the end of the match is indeed from the opposing corp. Let's also say that any salvage and SP that they got after the match was a bonus for a job well done.
Purely BS on my part even saying that, however, the point is, it doesn't matter what other players are doing or not doing. You should be playing to have fun, not monitoring the actions of other players. If you want the role of monitoring other players, then perhaps you should apply to work at CCP.
AFK'ing has always been a part of New Eden. Whether players like it or not, it is what it is. Why must you be the 1 millionth person to start a thread about it? You are acting as though CCP hasn't read this crap before or witnessed it for themselves. Perhaps there is already something in the plans to fix it, but they aren't saying anything until it is closer to being ready to deploy. Perhaps CCP has no interest in stopping it because, for the most part they have always allowed players to play their games the way the player wants too.
In either case, there is nothing you can do to stop it and more threads complaining about it won't change anything until CCP chooses to change it. In the meantime, just play the game to have fun. Calling out these players isn't going to make a difference to anyone, most of us already know who these players are, so making a list, or video, or whatever else, isn't going to change anything. We can't kick them from the team, so what good is knowing them in the first place? It is at best a wasted effort that is fueled by some sort of internal rage you have going on. You've been trolled by afk'ers and they are laughing at you. |

Go back to COD.
I have played MAG. I have never played COD online, I hear it's full of 13 yr old kids. I'll be 48 in Sept. I'd feel a little creepy playing COD online.
But you seem to have your panties in a bunch about this AFK business, maybe you should go join the non AFKing under 14 crowd in COD yourself.
While I agree AFKing probably ruins the balance and enjoyment of the game, I understand It's not illegal to do. Therefore, you have no right to "shame" players who aren't breaking any rules. |

Oh noes! Poor me! I'm being laughed at, whatever shall I do??
Also, you can't count. There are definitely less than a million threads about afk'ers. And also, let's not forget the massive ban waves that went around on afk'ers for a number of FPS games in recent history. Maybe CCP will give me the last laugh when the next pile of threads about afk'ers is the one where they're bitching about getting permabanned from the game... who knows.
For now, I'm not the one causing a problem with the game. I would enjoy the game more if it weren't for the afk'ers. I like the game, whether I win or lose. That's why I play it. If you're only playing it to afk, I would suggest you have bigger problems than just being bored with this one game. Especially if you have options to play something else. |

Wrong. I'm playing the game, and recording AFK players as I spawn, then going straight out to fight. Problem isn't solved until afk'ers either don't exist, are penalised, or players are given the tools by which to deal with them. |

"I like the game, whether I win or lose." - Great, good to hear.

Bah, arm chairs know it alls.
I would suggest that your argument is pointless and if you are going to let the actions of other players dictate the amount of enjoyment you get from a game, then you should play Hello Kitty Online. |

Finally someone who gets it.
The more SP you have, the more you can skill up. The more ISK you have the more skill books you can buy at outlandish prices and the more gear you can buy once you are skilled appropriately.
Makes absolutely no sense to loose ISK in a match trying to get a few hundred more SP.

Nah, this is just what's wrong with today's so-called 'gamers'. I remember when the closest thing to online gaming was a LAN party. We had an internet cafe that would host them every weekend, BYOPC. If you got caught cheating/boosting/afk'ing (in some cases)/scripting/botting etc, your PC was taken outside and smashed on the concrete footpath. You were not compensated.
The problem, that is, is people who are playing for the SP/ISK/WP as if it means something. Does anyone ever play for competition or fun anymore? No, not really, games are all about how much fake stuff you can acquire with as little effort as possible.
You're not earning anything by afk'ing your rewards, you're not even earning the tears. The tears are cool, granted, but you're not doing anything to get them. The best tears are the ones you ring from your opponents with fists clenched, with some kind of effort. Rewards mean nothing without the effort, but when they're all pixels, at the end of the day, the mean nothing with the effort, as well, so it still all comes down to how much fun or competition you're getting out of the game.
What confuses me is, if you're getting neither, why are you wasting your time being on it at all? |

Wrong, there are huge rewards for afking. It means you can actually make a semi-competent character that has a fighting chance, or if you already have lots of SP, it means you can spec into a secondary or third role, so you're not stuck playing the same damn role forever.
And AFKing has clearly collected plenty of tears, more tears than anything else in this game. AFKing in the MCC is the undisputed king of tear collecting.

Oh you mean the proto stomp competition.
Rewards mean nothing to you without effort. You keep talking about all this stuff that matters to YOU. When are you going to figure out that it doesn't matter to everyone. Not everyone has the same idea of fun as you do. Some people don't care to be proto stomped in a gimped system. And while they may not find it fun to be proto stomped, they may find the game idea fun and are using the only means they know of to level the SP playing field.
Where did you get the idea that Dust wasn't about rewards? ISK, SP, and Salvage. Or as other MMOs like to call it, (Game Currency), XP, and Loot. Every game is about rewards. You are simply trying to personalize the reward internal to your own ideas of what rewards you. |

Give us a fun way to hit our SP cap and i'll stop watching adventure time while I sit in the MCC. A large majority of the people who AFK farm out their cap are ones who have been playing this game for over a year, and to be honest instant battle aren't competitive. Going 25-1 90% of the time in pub matches isn't enjoyable... especially when your only deaths are from the random free lav running you over or some guy in the redline with a sniper rifle. Most of us are purly planetary conquest players because we enjoy competitive game, and because of that we spend a few hours a day in the mcc to make sure we hit our cap to make sure we keep up with the jones's of other competitive PC players.
If CCP where to introduce ways to easily field full team faction warfare fights with a decent enough reward to run your top end suits then you would see most of the campers stop.
TLDR: Instant battles are boring and the SP grind sucks. I hit the cap in the MCC and compete in planetary conquest. |
