Well from someone who is in a senior position of an infrastructure team at a stock exchange, all I can say is congratulations to your team on dealing with and mitigating your issue is such a professional manner outlined in your post - these issues are never easy and you can only prepare so much.
I personally think that in this instance as a dust player (and eve player) - that no reward of any kind is really required, however like everyone I'm sure free gifts of any kind would be most welcome - but again not necessary.
I find this level of transparency of what was affected and not affected to be admirable given the situation and can only de-risk your business activities further.
well done.

Good post - thanks for the info. And nice recovery, I hope this isn't something the team has to contend with again.
+1 for no reward needed (but I certinaly won't complain about free stuff!)

In this insanely cynical, pop culture world I hope that we at Eve and Dust would be greatful for all, and yet expect none, I support you CCP, your effort in this game, and in gaming in general. No compensation needed CCP. Unless of course you could get a few of us alone with the hacker??? |

Im with him while I wouldn't be against compensation this was an attack on CCP not a failure of the game, so thanks for controlling it in a timely manner and kudos for offering compensation when none is neccsary. |

I also, must agree. If CCP starts giving out "compensation" because they get attacked, it will set a precedent. It will encourage someone to hack in order to get "compensation". I'm okay with what I've earned, only really lost the potential for minor gain in a day. |

I have to agree. CCP no compensation needed. It does suck that if you didn't reach your cap and your only day to play is sunday, your SOL, but for the week and nothing more. If you have a active booster, yes you did loose out, especially if you used a 24hr , 3 day or 1 week. This is a great game and the people that play are in it for the long run.
However, Every good dust player gets there cap by friday night. no x 3 sp is needed. I agree with my corpmate when, lets find these guys put them in a small room on a small island with no fans' but a mouse in a bucket and place that bucket on the abdominal quadrant and heat it up. |

I agree that there should be no compensation needed: I was bummed out that I couldn't play, but the professionalism on the event was really great and as such I think none is required. As a noob however, I need as much SP as I can get so the guys in Proto suits can stop molesting me.
But thanks CCP. Really great handling of the situation, and I hope those kittens who hacked you burn slowly in hell. |

As I stated on FB good job...
Work did not allow me to reach my cap before the outage and the previous night when there were connectivity issues, I stopped playing with the "it'll be better tomorrow" attitude as I knew CCP would take care of it. well, that didn't happen, but afterwards, I was able to grind some and add that to the passive SP to get into my proto suit, so While I am not going to throw a tantrum over 60K sp I missed out on before my active booster, I will gladly make use of whatever "compensation" CCP deems appropriate and if they decide to make that "nothing at all", that will be fine too.

You guys can keep patting CCP on the back all day long. If you never put a dime into the game, then good for you. I, on the other hand, had two boosters running during this mess. It wasn't just downtime. Even before downtime, I and others I played with were being kicked out of half or more of the games we played, if not kicked off the server. This was going on Thursday night (technically Friday in the a.m.) until they pulled the server offline.
I want my boosters extended by this time. I paid for boosters to be used for a specific number of days, and I was unable to use them. While this is no fault of CCP, it is also not my fault and it costs them nothing to extend the boosters. (Mind, if CCP says all passive boosters output the same amount of SP as they would have under normal conditions, then I have no issue on that booster.)
On the other hand, not extending them pretty much guarantees I'll never spend another penny on the game since it merely tells me that any technical difficulties that impact my account will be met with indifference.

Not that I demand compensation for this issue, I mean it sucked wasting a 3 day booster and simply having that refunded would be nice but again not necessary.
However it's been nearly a week since this compensation was announced, EVE player's have received theirs so where's the announcement about what we get so I can stop wondering and my corp corp can stop asking me! |

There's really no need for compensation.
BUT, if there would, then it is giving the people who lost their ability grind their cap of the week the chance to do it. And that means grind, no free SP.
Only people who lost something are those who didn't reach their cap because they lost the weekends gametime. (PC warfare is more complex and beyond the subject of personal compensations) |

I like how a lot of the replies are GÇ£the only people who lost out are the people with the weekend to playGÇ¥ as though it doesn't matter. It does matter, I work from Wednesday to Sunday and so I go nuts on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to reach the cap, almost all of my gaming days were affected by this and so I lost out on the 200k SP and countless isk I would have earned.
As for how CCP dealt with the situation, kudos. Except now not so much as the issue is being ignored... |

LMAO WELL SAID,,but I think they want to compensate for active booster time since its measured in days of running AUG time,,,but still,,love the verbal beat down u gave,,,get'em bro lol.. okay I live in my own house paying a mortgage. I do pay to play this game. I help support the game so the game can stay free to play with my real money. And I know there are a lot of other people that do the same. I don't expect a free bpo or a bunch of money for nothing. If the boosters that I paid for were still ticking during the downtime then I want the timers reset to the values before the problems. Eve players got compensation and the players in dust that lost real money on the downtime should get it to .As for anything else I don't want it. |

yeah, I'm curious how soon "very" is going to be, especially since I figured out that with the loss of game-time and the ability to play repeatedly over a several day/week period has cost me a great deal more in SP than it should and has burned some days off of my active booster.
with the issue the other night, I decided to look and guess... it wasn't pretty...
oh well, back to EvE for a while I guess.... |
