This is actually a pretty good Idea. I like it.
We're in space, with spacesuits. Jumping really high in the air sounds cool. This game is not a tactical shooter. Tactical shooters have chest high walls everywhere that you get in cover behind. this game is run, gun, and shoot.
If we limit the really high jumping to scouts it offers them a bit of infiltration ability to make up for their complete loss of strafe advantage. BTW, give them that back, too.
So scouts get a triple height jump and everyone else is just double. Scout should also suffer less fall damage as a result, due to their increased agility, unlike now where a short fall eats all of their shield.
There's really nothing exciting about this game right now - it needs a thing. |

Yeah I miss the strafing speeds from last year's E3 build and I wasn't even a scout. |

Why not make the charged jump go about double the current height at max and still implement a module for a super jump allowing you to clear walls and such. Also allowing you to close some distance to that dropship just outside of your AV nade reach =D. Maybe make the super jump module relative to the actual suits max jump height so the scouts see the highest jumps while heavies could use modules to get a decent jump to get over that waist high rail that is in the way or to avoid an LAV.
I do not think that the charged jump should have a very big impact on the game. I think that allowing you to drain 100% of your stamina to double jump height is a good idea because it would allow tactical uses of all suits while not having a very large impact on game overall. A charged heavy jump would be a small bonus while a charged scout jump would be significantly higher and would allow them to not only avoid LAVs but give them tactical access to ledges only they could reach, or perhaps just make scaling a hill possible for a scout yet impossible for mediums and heavies. This would give a bonus to being a scout sniper.
The super jump module would activate when you charge your jump too long and would allow you to make scout-like charged jumps when used on a heavy, while getting a higher jump on a medium frame and even higher jumps on scouts. This would make scouts have a very decent selling point as they could get over compound walls and reach otherwise inaccessible locations by using a module to do so.
To clarify I like the idea of the charged jump being standard as we all pretty much have something like that anyway ( jump with no stamina and look at the difference in jump height in comparison to full stamina), and I do not think that allowing a higher jump at the cost of more stamina would make a significant difference so long as they do not achieve amazing heights. I suggest the module for even higher jumps because it sounds cool and fun and would allow more tactical use of scouts and a sort of "eject" button for a heavy when he starts to get overwhelmed. |
