Just curious what parts of CCP actually work?
Map design team can't make it so you don't get stuck on hills, walls, small ledges, etc.
Art department is months behind.
Weapons and vehicles are horribly out of balance.
Skill tree is borked still, unless you look at months of grinding even with boosters a success.
Game stability is non existent. Either you get memory leak, you get DC'd, or you lag everywhere. When everything seems to work, you can bet the other team is getting shafted.
Other than True Grit getting a mostly decent PC mode done, I can't see a single department at CCP that isn't in way over its head right now.
Don't even get me started on the marketing team. They should all go on a speaking tour of how not to promote a product.
Which begs the question:
Which parts of CCP are even capable of producing good work?

The map team had to redo all the maps all over again for uprising, They were getting a map a done a month. The are also working on LOD issues with the graphical team to ensure proper fidelity and that low lod doesn't cause 'terrain' glitches.
Art team has not only Suits and vehicles to make but art assets as well as technical art, the art of looking prettier while not melting your ps3. This is probably the most time consuming portion of their work.
Skill tree is designed not to be capped but CCP does recognize there are some issues between having passive bonuses, bonuses that effect items, and bonuses that widen the gap between veteran and rookie players. Which is why certain skills were most recently removed such as Sharpshooter and Weaponry Damage.
As for leaks and breaking performance they are typically things you cannot find while in a test environment and it usually takes a live culture to find, hunt, and slay such things. CCP will be trying something this week to help investigate PC issues.
Team True Grit is also primarily CCP Iceland.

I sat in open BETA and other than test server stress they didnn't throw anything ourway. 1.They didn't check in the terrain changes would work. 2.They didn't test PC server stress and lag 3. They didn't test the new skill system. 4. They didn't take advantage of a period that was intended to assess changes they implemented. Now that we have all these problems on launch the new players just joining are getting a terrible example of how CCP operates. Most importantly, my reputation is on the line. I told all my friends it was gonna be great, and now they think I am a total tool. |

This is amusing. In response to the question of "Does anything work?" : a list of excuses (and locations?) instead of pointing to a success.

this is because you think you should be able to "finish" this game in a week of 24/7 grinding. which is totally not the intended design.
the idea is that you have to specialize in something. and yes, being "the best" at something will take months. |

I consider it still in beta because until the ps4 comes out, that is all this really is. 512 mb is not enough for a game of this magnitude but the ps4 will have 8 gigs, it will be more than sufficient.

FYI an inside peek into CCP work environment. From revision control software maker Perforce: http://www.perforce.com/customers/success-stories/ccp-games
"Perforce" wrote:Versioning Everything at CCP Perforce's call to "version everything" is not going unheeded. CCP, makers of the Eve massively multiplayer online game and the forthcoming Dust 514 first-person shooter game for Sony PlayStation 3, has built a new paradigm for large, global game development organization GÇö with Perforce as its hub.
"Our mission is to achieve complete control of change," says Halldor Fannar, Chief Technology Officer for CCP, a privately held firm founded in 1997 with over 500 employees and development teams in Atlanta, Reykjavik, Newcastle, and Shanghai.
Perforce: The Definitive Software Library What's unique about Eve is that it's all played out in a single universe, with players participating around the world almost 24/7. The company's record thus far is 63,170 simultaneous players out of its global subscriber base of over 400,000.
Though CCP has spread development across the globe, they boast a competitive advantage thanks to the decision to version everything in Perforce; the depot is their Definitive Software Library.
This Definitive Software Library includes:
Art assets: Audio, textures, geometry, shaders Built binaries: Executables, dynamic libs, static data External libraries and tools Configuration files: Settings, initialization files Text: Translations, patch notes (...) CCP uses Perforce since 2004 Other users of Perforce: nVidia Pixar Ubisoft TiVo NYSE and 5.000 others |

CCP has always looked to the community and the forums for input even in the early days of the closed beta. There are growing pains when you form a community, but no one should thing they are discounted out of hand based on the medium of communication they use.
I understand that on some days anyone can be frustrated with the forums. In the end the community's voice matters and is important to how this game develops. |

Ironwolf has expressed this poor self-important attitude before.
It's particularly repellant in a player that has been appointed to the CPM.
He is openly dismissive of players that don't speak to him "just so" and dismissive of the months of effort that many people put into giving feedback in the beta.
I think he should apologize to the community and think deeply about why he said what he did. |
