I decided to try the scrambler rifle on an old alt (had about 1.5million ISK and 500000 SP, not yet touched on this build) and the first match I went 25-3... I rather enjoy using the scrambler |

Imp Smash wrote:I like the idea of it. The damage drop off coupled with a shockingly short optimum range and dispersion (but no dispersion reduction skill!!!) makes it easy to get 2 good shots to the head and then be unable to finish anyone off.
I call it the cheerleader gun. Kdr dropped a bit below 3 since I started with it, but I average 32 assists per game!
It is a kill assist machine, especially the Assault. Although only heavys can survive a full charged shot to the head within the Imperials optimal.
Also try out the Flaylock as a secondary, you'll get a few less assists.

I suck with the Scrambler rifle. I'm handy with that Scambler pistol, tho; 19/1. |

I'm calling BS there. You'd have overheated and been SOL had you shot a charged shot then 4- 5 shots later. While the overheat animation was playing you'd be riddled with shots. And you are almost certainly going to die if you just stand there and get shot while you're trying to line up a shot. Even if it does it and doesn't kill him you'll probably be dead before you can shoot at him some more, and if you aren't it's highly unlikely you'd get the necessary shots to finish him off without being killed yourself. An assault rifle stomps a scrambler rifle in almost every situation. Of course, you must be in the academy to spout such a foolish statement. |

Agreed. Anyone saying it's good has never used any of the other weapons in Dust 514. Getting a kill with it doesn't make it objectively good. A gun with 1 damage and low rate of fire can potentially kill something. For instance the Tactical Assault Rifle is the superior to the scrambler in every way. It has comparable damage, greater range, and while it has a smaller clip it doesn't have the backlash so you can unload your full clip without worry, which makes it far better at close range AND long range than the Scrambler Rifle. It's far more reliable, also. if you miss a couple of shots with a Tactical Assault Rifle you can just adjust your aim and try again. if you miss a couple of shots with the Scrambler Rifle you need to stop firing for the cooldown on the heat meter which is tantamount to seppuku in Dust 514. |

Many weapons will be tweaked soon. I'll keep playing with the ones I like, even if they aren't that good right now, as another respec may not occur anytime soon.
CCP Remnant wrote:We'll be making some adjustments to the rifle ranges in the near future. We're currently testing the Rail Rifle and Combat Rifle internally (the two missing archetypes). Within the assault rifle class the four weapon types will break down as follows:
Assault Rifle (Hybrid - Plasma) - short range Combat Rifle (Projectile - Autocannon) - short-mid range Scrambler Rifle (Laser - Pulse) - mid range Rail Rifle (Hybrid - Railgun) - long range
Keep in mind though that long range for an assault rifle is not equivalent to long range for a sniper rifle, so while they will adhere to existing category definitions don't expect massive differences in the distances between these weapons A lot of the original assault rifle variants (Breach, Burst, Tactical) were created to fill the gaps these newer weapons will fill and so mightGÇÖve felt out of place (not to mention we just plain made mistakes with some of them). The scrambler rifleGÇÖs optimal range will be increased and weGÇÖll be releasing an iteration of the Tactical Assault Rifle with a smaller clip and much wider hip-fire spread making it less effective in CQC. If that change alone does not prove enough we will walk the damage of the TAR down slowly. No big, sweeping changes this time.
