I play Eve and have a small corp. Dont know if that matters. Any tips or stuff I should be doing from the get go would be appreciated. HMG seems like my style so any pointers for that would help as well.

My biggest tip would be not to skip the tutorials and not to spend any skill points. This game isn't that complicated, but if you go in blind it may appear that way. Also all skill points spent are final, so don't spend any now. Stick to militia gear, you'll see a tab for it in the market. Militia gear requires no skill points to use, this is where you should start to test out various roles. Once you figure out what you for sure want, take the time to read the skill descriptions (press triangle over the skill) to make sure they are what you think they are. |

Don't go straight for a gun. You need other things more.
If you picked minmatar or caldari, get your complex shields.
If you picked gallente, armor is importante.
The gek is the best mid ranged gun in the game.
Scouts are suck until you get an adv suit and complex shields. Until you get those things, you will not understand what a scout it capable of.
Try to play a heavy aggressively and you will get burned.
Don't snipe.
Vehicles are powerful but easy to counter. Figure out how. |

Going by the few things youve said it seems to mirror Eve quite a bit with Caldari and shields etc. Thanks for the help. Will me having a corp in Eve help me at all? |

Dust University and Bojo school of trades are specialty corps designed to take in new members and teach then the ropes.
It'll take at least a month with pretty hardcore playing and boosters before you'll be good for anything, and 3 months before we can use you in PC. |

Just to add onto Sontie's statement, I use a scout without any additional armor or shields and do just fine (but because I max out my passive scanning range so I can always get the edge). If you do want to max out shields on a scout go for the Minmatar scout, however you'd probably be better off getting a medium suit and adding speed mods.
So I guess what I'm trying to say here is, everyone has a different opinion on what fitting combinations work best. Don't be afraid to try out your own mix. |

How could it?
Having a corp in Eve is like running a guild in Wow. It entitles you to nothing here.
Though... if your eve side guys are good in a fight, you could be a real asset to a dust corp for orbitals and whatnot. Ill Omens is at war and could use some Eve help... |

First and foremost, go to the Marketplace and select the Militia Gear tab on the left side of the screen. Everything that can be bought there can be used on day one, and is dirt dirt cheap. It's the crappiest of the crap gear, but you can still get reasonable scores if you know what you're doing in FPS.
You won't be able to start the game off with that HMG, but you can get yourself a Militia Amarr heavy suit with a Militia Assault rifle in the time being. Since you have no equipment slots, you'll need to keep an eye out in match for Supply depots and friendly (blue) nano hives (sits on the ground, produces a sphere of ammo regeneration), in order to keep up on ammo. Slap a militia SMG in your sidearm slot, then round it out with Militia Grenades, a Militia Shield Recharger, and a Militia Armor Repairer.
So, you want to go to:
Market > Marketplace > Militia Gear
Purchase 25 of each, then go all the way back and click on Fitting > Dropsuit Fitting > CREATE NEW
Once that's done, go directly into the Battle Academy going to Battle > Battle Finder > Instant Battle.
Eventually as you perform better, you'll graduate from the academy into standard matches, basically you'll start fighting vets after a point. You can also try to squad up with others who aren't in the academy in order to skip it, but that's your call.
Fight 5 matches. Don't look at your menus, don't buy anything unless you have to restock your suit, which can be done from the fittings tab.
Once you've done that, go to Character > Skills
From here you can either figure it out, or post a reply once you've done the above and I'll try to walk you through more.

Also, for the first week at least, play an alt while keeping passive sp on your main. You're going to die a LOT, and getting your k/dr back up after you learn to play can take a long time :( |

You have 3 slots for characters. When you pick which one you want to play, you are given the choice to activate passive sp. Don't activate passive SP on the alt.
There is no integration between economies in Eve and Dust right now. I wouldn't expect it to be implemented for some months yet. |

Be a Caldari Logi with a Duvolle Tactical Assault Rifle and you will kill everybody at every range. Throw some AV nades on that and tanks wont be a problem, either. That's what all the best players use bc it's op as hell. |

Make an alt character and get into some academy battles with just starter fits. Once you've accrued enough funds, start spending your sp testing all the current basic level weapon types. Stick with two of your favorite weapons because you'll need a failsafe if your preferred weapon gets a nerf.
Once you've acquired enough proficiency in skill, go back to your main start anew, but this time go straight into dumping sp on an adv dropsuit (1 or more valuable extra slots than std), your first major sp sink. I'd do this ASAP because if you're nothing short of a hardcore grinder , getting that 400k (currently?) or so sp needed may seem like a lifetime, and while core dropsuit skills are necessary, the process of upgrading them is gradual and falls more on a steady pace sp wise . . |

Put one point at least into gernades, fit AV gernades. Two of them will take out one of those two free LAVS. Stand in nano hives for extra gernades. |

I recommend speccing into shield upgrades and armor upgrades as fast as possible no matter what class you wish to run.
For a heavy It depends if you want to shield tank or armor tank (or both) before you decide where to take your skill tree from there. I must say with Amarr being the only Heavy suit shield tanking on a heavy is not very viable because it only has a maximum of 2 high slots.
That said I would recommend working on armor plating and armor repair next.
i would recommend shield regulator and shield extender as your next step.
It is a good Idea to build these skills up together if you wish to tank armor and shield.
HMG takes a significant amount of SP to be able to use and there is no MLT variant. You must have weaponry lvl 5 and HMG Operation lvl 1. Considering this you may wish to stick with the forge gun until you can save the SP for HMG.
you definitely want to have grenadier at least to lvl 1 possibly 2 if you want to go Heavy AV.
Choose a sidearm. I use the SMG, although it costs more SP than the Scrambler Pistol. The scrambler pistol is also a great weapon, but requires a significant amount of skill to make it viable. I used the Pistol in the last build and it was awesome, but decided to go for a change of pace and switched to the SMG after uprising.
That's all I can think of for now, feel free to ask me any questions you may have. |

KDR means nothing in this game. Do not follow this advice. You get SP for every fight, so early on when you need SP most, you should be using your main. |

This. There is WAY MORE to Dust 514 than having a good k/dr. If you are a good player the k/dr will come naturally with time. |

I'll look you up in game after the downtime. For your first 10k WP you will be in the Academy (noob battles) unless you squad up. If you want I can put you in a squad and you can see what its like to run with the bigger dawgz. |

Ya sounds good. I will battle it out with nubs and then get a tour of the real game when Im used to it since I havent even touched a PS3 controller since MAG so it might take me a bit to get decent at it. Thanks though I will be on here for often so I look forward to it.

You don't have to "know" anybody to succeed as a noob. Just join a squad and turn in voice chat. Follow your squad and shoot inte direction they shoot and you will find yourself in the top half of the scoreboard more often than not.
