Ric, you were looking for an answer as to the hate. Here's your answer. People circumventing a lack of game mechanics to ruin the gameplay experience -> while flaunting it.

On top of that the hate has been around longer than this BetaMaxGate.

So for the last couple of days, guys, I've seen a lot of CRONOS guys verbally attacked here on Dust 514 forums, man, and people have been asking me: "Ric, what's your take on this whole CRONOS being the new bad guys of New Eden dude?" Now that's a great question, guys, and make no mistake about it, I'll be giving my thoughts on this whole issue in this post but first let me just point out a few things before I get started. I'm not here to argue about individual cases, like the BetaMaxGate or the now already famous/infamous CRONOS land grab and whether or not these things were the right thing to do or not because I don't wanna start another flame war, which is known to happen when I issue statements on hot button topics like this.

Now everyone knows I live above the arctic circle, which makes me a tough guy by nature, so a dude running his mouth online doesn't really make my ******* itch that much at all (once you've seen one of them "super packs" of big wolves passing through the town it kind of puts stuff into perspective for you), but because it's the hot topic I'm gonna give you my thoughts on it right now.

You see, guys, I think a lot of dudes are pissed off because, CRONOS (and see how I'm taking an outsider's point of view on this topic) is probably the biggest alliance out there who hold the largest chunk of land out there of any alliance. Of ANY alliance, guys, and that's the important point. At this moment CRONOS dominates Molden Heath, make no mistake about it. And that's the number one reason for all the hate, man, cause when you think about it you know, it makes perfect sense. STB is used to be bad guys when they were destroying people left and right in the early days. After that it was the Imperfects when they won the first tournament, guys. Well now it's CRONOS with all those juicy districts, dude. That's it, guys, it's not rocket science.

That being said, guys. I don't think anyone's ever gonna break CRONOS' record of more than 34% of all districts controlled by a single alliance. And knowing we took another one just last night, I think it's only fair that I end this post with a quote from a great man.
"One more in the record books, one more in the win column, and one more for the bad guys."

A pack of 400 wolves is no joke, when you said "super pack" I was thinking in the 60-80s range. You based up there for a job? You enjoy it or go stir crazy sometime? Have a family? If not, I can send my wife and kids up there for a bit.

It is pretty laughable they planted their flag on more places first because the E.U had a head start before N.A so that makes them the biggest land owners. Oh well makes our job that much more enjoyable.

As a pure Eve player in a SOV holding alliance I wanted to chime in. I haven't posted here in quite some time, but I've been keeping track of Dust.

I am combining Dust and Eve into the same universe since that's what it will be. Eve is definitely a cut-throat, devious game sometime. I expect Dust to be very similar. So I can highly predict that there WILL be team killing and spies in Dust... in the beginning!

Spies and team killers (called awoxers in Eve SOV warfare) is part of daily life. It's expected and looked out for. CCP has pretty much taken a hands off approach and let the players decide how to handle it. For example, our corp does a background check on each applicant, checks out previous corps, requires minimum skill points, requires a FULL API to check out the full account and at the very end, a voice interview, just like a job application. It seems like a bit much, but it's one of the things that makes Eve... well Eve.

I have a feeling that Dust will need to grow in the same manner. Here's the rough part: in the beginning, Everyone will be newbs, have no history, have no skill points. Dust merc corps will probably align themselves with known associates from other games and not accept anyone at the start. It's going to be rough in the beginning. But as mercs grow, you'll be able to weed out the TK'ers for the most part.

Here's the good news. As the merc corp grows and gets older, they will be able to be more circumspect in their recruits. Also Eve corporates will likely need successful merc corps and will be willing to provide ISK/Material to your efforts. (In the same instance, other Eve corps will desperately try to insert their spy's/TK'ers).

Now I don't know what mechanic will be implemented or if there will even be one. But I think it would be prudent to start developing your own ways to deal with the threats

But members of CRONOS have and do, often. Amusingly enough it's often ones that had the least to do with the modicum of success you have now. Again, your associates reflect poorly on you.

I don't give a crap how "poorly my associates reflect on me", I expect people to be able read a sentence like "Well let me ask you this, if you had the head start would have you done the same thing?", and understand that it has nothing to do with bragging whatsoever!

Yeah but the bragging does matter, while your question is nothing but a waste of time, a pointless game of "what if".

I'll personally answer it, though. If having logged on before everyone else, and having not put any thought into a strategy regarding PC beforehand while sitting on about 10 billion in cash, saw that I could sit there hitting X over and over to get as many districts as I could for the low low price of 80 million each, I probably would have done so. If I had thought over my strategy before hand, probably not.

But that's not the situation I was in, nor was it the situation you were in, so again that paragraph was a waste of everyone's time. Sorry, everyone!

The only reason this alliance has so many districts is because they were able to sign on during their normal day time playing hours and grab districts..the people in the US were unable to do so because it was early in the morning when the majority of society is sleeping. Congrats. SI is not good. When we warred during our normal playing hours..you got wrecked. We can not attack you guys at 10am our time because we have lives. I really dont give a **** about how many districts you have because your bad.
