Ric Barlom On The Brink CRONOS. 140	Posted - 2013.05.22 09:20:00 - [1] - Quote So for the last couple of days, guys, I've seen a lot of CRONOS guys verbally attacked here on Dust 514 forums, man, and people have been asking me: "Ric, what's your take on this whole CRONOS being the new bad guys of New Eden dude?" Now that's a great question, guys, and make no mistake about it, I'll be giving my thoughts on this whole issue in this post but first let me just point out a few things before I get started. I'm not here to argue about individual cases, like the BetaMaxGate or the now already famous/infamous CRONOS land grab and whether or not these things were the right thing to do or not because I don't wanna start another flame war, which is known to happen when I issue statements on hot button topics like this. Now everyone knows I live above the arctic circle, which makes me a tough guy by nature, so a dude running his mouth online doesn't really make my ******* itch that much at all (once you've seen one of them "super packs" of big wolves passing through the town it kind of puts stuff into perspective for you), but because it's the hot topic I'm gonna give you my thoughts on it right now. You see, guys, I think a lot of dudes are pissed off because, CRONOS (and see how I'm taking an outsider's point of view on this topic) is probably the biggest alliance out there who hold the largest chunk of land out there of any alliance. Of ANY alliance, guys, and that's the important point. At this moment CRONOS dominates Molden Heath, make no mistake about it. And that's the number one reason for all the hate, man, cause when you think about it you know, it makes perfect sense. STB is used to be bad guys when they were destroying people left and right in the early days. After that it was the Imperfects when they won the first tournament, guys. Well now it's CRONOS with all those juicy districts, dude. That's it, guys, it's not rocket science. That being said, guys. I don't think anyone's ever gonna break CRONOS' record of more than 34% of all districts controlled by a single alliance. And knowing we took another one just last night, I think it's only fair that I end this post with a quote from a great man. "One more in the record books, one more in the win column, and one more for the bad guys."

That is not true at all, plenty of people are hated who achieved practically nothing but in the process wronged allot of people. Saying success is the post by which people are liked or disliked is false. Many people have achieved allot and are loved for it or at the very least not hated. Now when you get to the top by tricks a psychopath would use (without empathy) instead of working fairly and achieving through merit that's the difference between being hated or just plain jealousy. Its not about how many districts CRONOS has Ric, its about how they got them...... unless you feel Paris Hilton deserves her success...... Well as I said, in the opening post, I'm not here to argue about whether or not some of these things were the right thing to do, that's another topic, Termin. And to answer your questions of how we go the districts, well quite honestly many of them were grabbed day one with a flick of a wrist, no big deal. Some of them were taken through force and yeah, I believe some of them were taken by dirty tactics. That being said, the smell of hate was already in the air before this whole BetaMaxGate.

Wrong IWS - Betamax or at least used to be, now in a new corp which is prob in some way betamax and they made it so awox wont happen to them while they do it to everyone else Caz - CRONOS Jenza - Betamax Noone cared about the districts they would take because they would lose them eventually to far better corps except the only way they could hold onto them is by awoxing and being super secret awesome spies while saying 'AFKing is hurting the game and is bad and driving new players away' while PC has stopped recruitment for every single corp looking to take part in PC in someway and every single new player is now a spy or labeled a spy because he will auto awox in a PC battle so new players are also getting shafted Yay CPM way to break the game you represent My bad, Snake. Well here's the thing, Hornet and I like you dude, but I never wanted to claim we're the best or anything like that. The point was that we hold the most amount of districts, which is a fact, and it causes some ill feelings against us, be it hate, dislike, or "laughter". I mean, yeah, some dirty tricks were used but as I said, man, the smell of hate has been there for quite some time now.

I mean that's the beauty of Dust 514 I think.

And yeah my town is pretty much all snow during winter but the last of it melted away last week. People circumventing a lack of game mechanics to ruin the gameplay experience -> while flaunting it. Yeah, man, I get it. It's definitely part of the equation but like I've mentioned before, CRONOS isn't the only guys doing it, only the biggest with the most districts. On top of that the hate has been around longer than this BetaMaxGate. Now that being said, the gaming culture of Eve online, and make no mistake about it we have a lot EVE players here, is very different from most other games, man. If you think this is bad, the most famous stories that come from EVE make the stuff we've done in Dust 514 looks like something mother Theresa would do on a good day! We're talking about a community, where scamming, pirating and all kinds of morally shady things are stuff to be proud of, guys. If you don't wanna do stuff like that, it's all fine and dandy, but I recommend everyone to prepare for the worse, and all kinds creative ways people are going to try to screw you over.

A pack of 400 wolves is no joke, when you said "super pack" I was thinking in the 60-80s range. You based up there for a job? You enjoy it or go stir crazy sometime? Have a family? If not, I can send my wife and kids up there for a bit. Well you know, when I heard about that 400 wolves I couldn't believe it at first either! It's not like we've got that kind of numbers here anyways. In Russia everything is more crazy, no offence to any of you Russians out there, but here they manage the population effectively, but sometimes some school kid runs into one when going to school because those hipster nature folks want to "protect" the wildlife, man! And I'm pretty much born here, and yeah I didn't use to mind but then I lived in other places around the world and now the constant darkness during winter is pretty damn depressive, I'm sure the guys at CCP who moved up there to Iceland to work know a thing or two about that.

Amusingly enough it's often ones that had the least to do with the modicum of success you have now. Again, your associates reflect poorly on you. I don't give a crap how poorly "my associates reflect on me", I expect people to be able read a sentence like "Well let me ask you this, if you had the head start would have you done the same thing?", and understand that it has nothing to do with bragging whatsoever!

If having logged on before everyone else, and having not put any thought into a strategy regarding PC beforehand while sitting on about 10 billion in cash, saw that I could sit there hitting X over and over to get as many districts as I could for the low low price of 80 million each, I probably would have done so. If I had thought over my strategy before hand, probably not. But that's not the situation I was in, nor was it the situation you were in, so again that paragraph was a waste of everyone's time. Sorry, everyone! Jesus Christ it did have a point! I simply wanted to know if the Imperfect dude is pissed off because they got there late and weren't able to do what we did, or if their whole gameplan was to go for only 2 districts in the beginning. I'm not playing a game of "what if", neither I'm trying to argue with you guys. I'm just trying to have a discussion here, man!
