I'm not sure why this thread descended into name calling, but I sort of agree with the OP. If you let an infantryman get that close to you, and let him land 3-4 AV grenades on you in quick succession without instantly hitting reverse (Don't try and outgun him, he's tiny, and you're very, very easy to hit)... You totally deserve to die.
I've seen plenty of tankers with militia fit tanks, myself included, go upward of 30\0 because I played it LIKE A TANK. If you play it like it's a giant battering ram and drive into the middle of the map\battle... well that was a waste of 150K isk. If you however hang around the edges, keep yourself hulldown and place fire where it's NEEDED not where the squishies are, you'll get loads of kills. Also get a crew, even if they just sit on their hands. They will protect your tank up close. Make sure one can call a logistic LAV too and watch your tank become nothing short of invincible.
Dedicated AV fits SHOULD put the fear of god in your because he's made to kill you and YOU SPECIFICALLY.
Learn actual real life tank tactics and get out of the mindset that Battlefield 2/3 has ingrained in you. Tanks ARE vulnerable to infantry. Infantry are the hard counter to EVERY vehicle in war, especially real life. Apply that to Dust and you'll keep your tanks a little longer. |

Sigh, another uneducated player who obviously doesn't play as dedicated vehicles or AV. The only people who should be talking about balance is the Maxed out Vehicle Players and Maxed out AVers, so that we can discuss all levels of balance. So, proto LAV drivers, Proto Dropship Pilots, "Proto" Tankers (So Enforcers atm, eventually proto) and Proto Forge, Swarm and Cannon players.
When it is very easy to get 10-40 kills with 0-1 deaths in a single game as a LAV driver, something is wrong, especially considering it is easier to fight in that than it is my HAV. When it takes a single AR player 3 AV grenades to take off 80% of my HAVs HP, yet I can take double that in my LAV and still survive that swarm hit, something is very wrong.
It is not so much that AV is "overpowered" than, Grenades are too strong for what they are, and vehicles do not have proper tiers compared to AV. A Proto forge should and does dominate a Standard Vehicle solo. A Proto swarm massacres Standard Armor vehicles, A proto plasma cannon does not dominate any shield based vehicle and should be addressed. This is all fine, but we only have standard vehicles, we have nothing better than standard. Sure we have specialized vehicles such as the Assault and Logistic Dropship, the Scout and Logistic LAV and the Enforcer Tank, all of these are effectively advanced vehicles, only the Logi LAV is any good in my eyes.
Then you look at certain vehicles, such as the Dropship, a completely nerfed vehicle that receives constant nerfs and no love from CCP, it is shocking. Thankfully CCP fixed it so instead of one shotting it, I now have to fire twice when using my railgun.
The Enforcer Tank, has reduced CPU and PG, with an additional low slot for the Caldari and a High Slot for the Gallente, for an extra million ISK. That is like me giving you a STD Assault suit and then offering you a new proto assault suit with one extra slot, with the CPU/PG of a Militia Suit and then charging you 10x the Standard suits price. Now don't get me wrong we get a slight damage buff to a weapon that the race uses, but its not worth the extra mil.
Tankers shouldn't solo, you're right in that regard, but neither should AV players, yet they do. I run with my squad, I support yet I get ****** by a solo AVer in the distance because my guys don't have the range to hit them before they hit me. And we're still also focusing on just Public Matches, Corp Matches, a Tank is better suited to the red line, or long distance sniping, is that what we should be? Snipers that you can solo for your enjoyment if we ever leave the redline? We shouldn't cost near 2mil just to be an expensive pi+Ķata.
Long Post short, do not attempt to get involved saying how vehicles and AV are balanced until you have specialized into the skills for AV or Vehicles, when proper AVers and Pilots talk, they can be very constructive and the good AVers agree Tanks are far too weak, they are not a challenge when matched against proto AV. |

i got 28 kill and 26 kill assists and 0 deaths, but right after that match i got killed and went 10 and 6, so its all about skill points invested, driver skill and map. |

I've been tanking since I started playing this game when Chromosome was released. I know a thing or two about tanks, actually. I'm pretty sure I post more about tanks than anybody else. |

I love switching to my proto forge when tanks spawn in as reaping their tears and screams as they burn alive inside there metal coffins is the only reason I play these days.
They think because they spend more isk they should be an indestructible one man army like in chromosome, tank balancing has felt just about right with uprising i've been able to solo kill many proto tankers or at least drive them off to the red line. Its made forge gun fun again. |

It's not that we spend more ISK so we should be indestructible. It feels right because you can solo us for you, right? Look at it like this.

Ok then that's fair enough, I used the word proto to describe your current best tanks you can use. So basically im using a proto assault forge with X2 10% damage mods and forge proficiency level 5 for another 15% vs your Advanced tanks, well then the damage I feel I do to these advanced tanks feels pretty much perfect then, takes me 5 shots to kill one.
They don't need buffing, ccp just needs to add your mauraders back. 6 months time I believe |

What variant? Managed to get myself 3 shotted last night, I wept.
Marauders were shite. They got extra damage, which we didn't need and a bit of CPU/PG. They were the advanced tanks. Adding a Low Slot to the Gunnlogi and calling it better just isn't right, and the cost wasn't justified, same with these enforcers. The enforcers lose CPU and PG, gain an extra million ISK cost on top and gain one additional slot. How are you meant to use that extra slot for anything beneficial when you could barely fit the standard one with more CPU and PG than the enforcer?
Tanks are a joke, I bring a rail out to destroy the installations, then I grab my logi LAV and just run people over as it's superior to my tank in nearly every way. managed to go 37/0 the other day, dealt over 120k damage and took around 100k damage. Win. |

Yep, I think the problem all come down to this. There is no prototype tank. Things went fine in std av vs std tank fight until an AV guy grab his proto forgegun.
Let's blame CCP for incomplete stuffs. And CCP stop balance standard tank around prototype AV weapon. Give tanker a proper prototype tank to play with please. We severely need more tool in our sandbox. |

Never said it took only 3 AV grenades. Im running advanced swarm, light dmg mods and nanohives, with AV grenade backups.
Lvl 4 Swarms, lvl 1 Grenades, lvl 1 Nano. The SP cost isn't huge either, compared to the millions for tanks. |

Maybe I just haven't faced a decent tank then. They might kill me once or twice, but w/ a 16k fitting and free LAVs to get back in the fight, the only ones that live through the match are the ones that run. **edit** or have a squad backing them up. |

I hated tanks in Chrome but I will admit they are a joke in Uprising. I've managed to always send a tank running with my Flux + Freedom MD, even solo'd 2 of them. And the MD took a damage nerf. |
