When it is very easy to get 10-40 kills with 0-1 deaths in a single game as a LAV driver, something is wrong, especially considering it is easier to fight in that than it is my HAV. When it takes a single AR player 3 AV grenades to take off 80% of my HAVs HP, yet I can take double that in my LAV and still survive that swarm hit, something is very wrong.
It is not so much that AV is "overpowered" than, Grenades are too strong for what they are, and vehicles do not have proper tiers compared to AV. A Proto forge should and does dominate a Standard Vehicle solo. A Proto swarm massacres Standard Armor vehicles, A proto plasma cannon does not dominate any shield based vehicle and should be addressed. This is all fine, but we only have standard vehicles, we have nothing better than standard. Sure we have specialized vehicles such as the Assault and Logistic Dropship, the Scout and Logistic LAV and the Enforcer Tank, all of these are effectively advanced vehicles, only the Logi LAV is any good in my eyes.
Then you look at certain vehicles, such as the Dropship, a completely nerfed vehicle that receives constant nerfs and no love from CCP, it is shocking. Thankfully CCP fixed it so instead of one shotting it, I now have to fire twice when using my railgun.
The Enforcer Tank, has reduced CPU and PG, with an additional low slot for the Caldari and a High Slot for the Gallente, for an extra million ISK. That is like me giving you a STD Assault suit and then offering you a new proto assault suit with one extra slot, with the CPU/PG of a Militia Suit and then charging you 10x the Standard suits price. Now don't get me wrong we get a slight damage buff to a weapon that the race uses, but its not worth the extra mil.
Tankers shouldn't solo, you're right in that regard, but neither should AV players, yet they do. I run with my squad, I support yet I get ****** by a solo AVer in the distance because my guys don't have the range to hit them before they hit me. And we're still also focusing on just Public Matches, Corp Matches, a Tank is better suited to the red line, or long distance sniping, is that what we should be? Snipers that you can solo for your enjoyment if we ever leave the redline? We shouldn't cost near 2mil just to be an expensive pi+Ķata.
Long Post short, do not attempt to get involved saying how vehicles and AV are balanced until you have specialized into the skills for AV or Vehicles, when proper AVers and Pilots talk, they can be very constructive and the good AVers agree Tanks are far too weak, they are not a challenge when matched against proto AV.
