Anyone actually bought a $99 merc pack? What are the stats of these items like? Standard/adv/proto? And are the skill requirements the same as the isk version or less like aurum weapons?

Rubbish hey. With that fact in mind. Your better buying the cheapest pack 5 times instead. (Unless your interested in a load of suits your not going to use or you want to play using sica's)
Reasoning: $20 pack gives 1 booster. So 5 packs give you more than the 4 you get in the $100 pack. Surely ccp, you have missed a trick here. Ignoring all the rubbish, the 100 dollar pack gives less boosters per buck, and no benefit in aurum.

It gives new players the ability to play a proper logistics role immediately after character creation with a 3 equipment slot 0 sp requirement suit.
The LAV BPO that comes with it has a red stripe, and red wunz go fasta.
Other than that your money is probably better spent elsewhere. |

I bought the first merc pack and have out grown it kinda. I would take a shiny heavy BPO, but I only want something I can use til whenever the Min silverback gorilla suit comes in. Its fine for people who want a few permanent things to play around with. I am on a set path for now. |

I'd also like to point out that the Dren dropsuits also receive their respective role-specific bonus.
I've come to this conclusion based on CCP tagging basic suits with "NOTE - This basic frame does not receive any role-specific bonuses" ; the Dren dropsuits do not have this tag.
Also under "Assets", The Dren line of suits appear under the role specific list of dropsuits (Sentinel, Assault, Logistics, and Scout) instead of under the basic list.
I havn't theory crafted to test this however, but would find it strange if this wasn't correct. |

This is correct for the Dren Logistics M-I, but other people have stated that certain suits don't receive bonuses. |

Judging from the stats on the swarm launcher and assault rifle the dren weapons are basic, not militia. I am thinking of buying this because the price of the pack is the same as buying the aur last time I checked a couple of months ago, so you essentially get the BPO weapons, 0 sp BPO suits, BPO LAV, 50 HAV, and 4 boosters for free. This is a great deal if you wanted the aur for boosters and gear anyway.

Do you need to be that race or have spent the skill points on the respective tree to get the racial bonus?

This was my thoughts on it when I purchased.
And that LAV can be lots of fun, has a good passive shield recharge on it and is freeeeeeee ( well once you buy the pack ) |

Between boosters and Aurum to pay for more boosters the difference pretty much down to the BPO toys you get. I wanted the LAV and having a range of standard gear to use was nice too. I planned to spend $20 per month and the Elite will last me the 5 months and more.

The Elite Pack gives you 2 passive boosters and 2 actives, and arguably 30 day passives are better than 30 day actives (since you can buy shorter duration actives and still cap each week, depending on how much you play).
If you bought the packs only to buy boosters, you would have 60k AUR after buying 5 passives with the AUR from your 5 Merc Packs vs. 32k AUR after buying 3 actives and 3 passives with the AUR from the Elite Pack. But you wouldn't be stuck with 5x of the same items from the Merc Pack, and the Elite Pack does contain many useful BPOs (particularly the LAV). |

Wouldn't advise buying the Dren pack until they fix the stats of the Swarm Launcher and Scrambler pistol from Militia PG and CPU to Basic. Knowing the pace at which CCP move, that'll probably be never. |

I needed to replace my dear SVER suit since I had gone Assault in Uprising. Having a free LAV, especially now, is also rather handy, and I've been enjoying the Heavy suit as well. The Dren Logi is by far the best part, for me, as I use at least 3 different loadouts each game that require three equipment slots. I've considered the purchase worth it, though the game is starting to become tedious to me now. |

I didn't consider the cpu/pg. The clip size of the swarm launcher is basic (militia has only 2 missiles in the clip). The extra cpu/pg definitely sucks.

If you don't already have BPO suits, the DREN pack is pretty awesome and allows lots of versatility early on. The weapons are much better than militia counterparts and the bpo suits allow you to farm isk early on. TBQH, the Dren Heavy suit is possibly the best part of the whole damn thing. Can put an assault forge on the thing FTW. |

Thought about purchasing one a while back but opted for the Merc Pack instead. The only reason I could see wanting the other packs would be for the LAV BPO since we get no more free LAV's. Not that I use them much as a Scout. The only thing I really buy is boosters and I get better value with the $20 soooooooo yup. |

Don't know for sure since I haven't tested it, but I would expect the 50% bonus for level 5 to be applied to the militia clip size of 2 to bring the total to 3. The Dren swarm launcher is clips sie 3 so i would expect it to increase to 5. |
