Hey Tim,
A Logi is really based on the equipment they bring to the battlefield. If squad support is your main goal, then there are 2 things you'll really need. Survivability and Equipment.
Survivability you'll find in the armour and shield sections in dropsuit upgrades. As for equipment, that is also in the dropsuit upgrades tab but I forget which sub-section it's under. It has things like Active Scanner, Nanocircuitry, Uplink Deployment, and so on. These skills typically relate to a peice of equipment in the marketplace.
If you want more details on what these do, there are some guides available if you do a little digging.
But as a note, I still would recommend getting atleast decent weaponry. Squad support is great but you do still need to add to team firepower from time to time. Perhaps try taking up a weapon that fills a role you see lacking in your squad. There are many suggestions for Logi firepower.
Hope this helps get you started :) |

There have been many great writeups so far about the Logi suits and thier bonuses. But I should probably touch on Minmataar more.
While they don't seem as obvious as being fantastic Logi suits, they are fantastic squad support suits. Gallente get the bonus to equipment fittings, so they will beable to fit better equipment without sacrificing thier fitting. But Gallente suits are slower, and without putting in armour plates or shield extenders, they are very squishy. Put 2 and 2 together and that makes them reletively easy to kill.
Minmataar sacrifices outright equipment superiority for a hacking bonus to take points faster and faster suit speed to help with keeping up with squad members and helping with strafe speeds. Strafing keeps you alive in many cases so this is something that is easily overlooked, but very vital in combat. The hacking bonus is best used when your squad arrives on a point, you focus on hacking while the squad covers you. Your bonus ensures the point goes down fast and your squad can focus on keeping the enemy at bay. Mind you this works best with organized teams but this is the best way to take points. When everyone rushes the hack point all it takes is someone to spawn in with a shotgun to take them all out.
As a dedicated logistics player myself, I'll be specing into these 2 suits first, but for differant reasons. One sacrifices equipment power for squad assisstance, while the other sacrifices support versitility for raw equipment strength and useage.
Hope this helps with your decision. :)
