I totally know where you're coming from, man. I can't even get my friends to play this game anymore because they say, "I shoot people and they don't die." And you have to admit, getting the tactical advantage over an opponent, emptying a ton of bullets in them only to have them turn around and kill you in a fraction of the time you spent shooting them... well, that's not very good for morale.
After this update, however, I did notice something interesting. I was very wary of putting my points into things and I didn't do it until yesterday -- most people did it on the 7th or shortly after that. What I found strange was that with militia gear and absolutely no SP used towards skill points, I was still doing pretty well.
How is this even possible, you ask? Well, I like to join squads and talk to people. In about a month or so of playing, I've got 30+ friends and about 5 corps I regularly play with asking me to join. But that's got nothing to do with combat. What does have to do with combat is that I join groups, stick with them, and shoot at the same targets they do. Turns out if 2 people are shooting the same target, it doesn't really matter what suit they're wearing.
I think you know what I'm getting at, but I'll give you my suggestion in a more precise and concise form: 1. Find a role that suits you. Create a militia dropsuit setup with a repair tool or nanite injector, and you will rack up SP regardless of KDR. 2. Always join squads when you play games 3. Always have a mic. You don't need to be super talkative or Mr. Friendly Coolguy, but if you speak up in ways that are helpful in battle, like calling out positions, you'll be immediately appreciated. 4. Always roll with the group. That way when you say "Enemy behind" you're speaking for yourself and for them. 5. If the group you're with is not communicating and not saying in a group, just leave. No need to say a word. It's not beneficial for you to play a team game in a group of people that aren't working together. 6. Ask questions about skill points and gear setups. Most people are more than happy to talk about what's working for them, and on the rare occasion you group up with some beasts that go 12-0 every round, this is very helpful. Definitely take advantage of the trial and errors of other players.
As a wise old man once said, "IT'S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE." Take this advice. |

*** This is also very important ***
One of the main reasons why I'm still playing today is that I took advantage of a limited-time opportunity. A little while ago, there was a whole week where you got triple SP for every match you played. I also kicked in a 7-day booster at the exact same time.... yeah. I was getting about 15,000 to 20,000 SP per ambush match, and I only get around 5-8 in rankings at the end of the match.
If something like this comes up again, definitely take advantage of it by buying a booster. It is a game-changer. |
