The Breach Shotgun. More specifically, the prototype Allotek Breach. It feels like a bloody ripoff. A bit more damage, that's nice. 2 shots in the gun, I can take that. A full one second refire rate, no sweat. A 1.25 second reload rate, things are getting dicey. 12 shots total, what the hell? Price-tag of upper 40k, screw off. Unless the thing is gonna get a massive damage buff and be an antimaterial shotgun, I see no place where having 12 shots is considered good, especially when combined with the pisspoor reload and what MAY be an even shorter range, haven't conclusively tested that.
Either way, you are warned to stick with the Creodron Protoshotty. |

Yep... Breach sucks bad now. They used to be better but with the new aiming.. You know. I suggest sticking with reg or specialist. |

I don't get the point of breach shotguns in general, the damage gained isn't worth such a massive loss of magazine size. |

For a gun that used to be able to oneshot proto heavies.. I'd say the damage is definitely worth having some serious drawbacks.
These drawbacks are serious, but also pretty garbage and make the gun unattractive.. I'm hearing talk of shotguns having some bugs with range/damage as well... but haven't had a chance to try them myself.
Since you've apparently hit prototype with them... Send me a mail with your thoughts on shotguns in general, OP? (Or make a thread and let me know, that's probably the better option) |

Will do Mr. Knife. A summary for the moment: Pretty good, try to blindside, but for god's sake have a nanohive. Have two. |

It hits at range, it's awesome, learn to use it.
I think it did get a damage nerf, which wasn't needed as now shotgun damage is based on how much of the spread hits. |

I've posted on this subject many times in the past prior to uprising. They have always been UP. The same goes for the wide majority of 'breach' weapons. All the posts that I'have made on this topic have been ignored as far as I can tell. The issues with breach SG are:
1) obviously 2 shots only. This would be ok if it were not for #2 and 3 below 2) extremely slow ROF - as a scout, you will only have a chance to get one shot off because you'll be dead from return fire from before you can follow up with the second one. 3) Slow and buggy reload. Screws you over, esp if you are a scout - forget about running if you want to reload - you gotta stop sprinting for like 2.5 - 3 seconds to reload which would definitely get you killed in a fire fight 4) The extra damage is not worth it - one well placed shot (close distance and well aimed) is not enough to take out a well tanked assault (f.e. proto) and two shots will not take out a well tanked heavy 5) With the super narrow cone of damage and the ridiculous aiming good luck landing shots reliably - and that's with a weapon that's already slow firing and does not forgive a single missed shot. 6) low total ammo - this one is meh, cuz you die before you run out of rounds most of the time. 7) The range is not that much better than the regular SG, so overall, extremely close range - so you gotta accept that you have to close in on the target to get a chance at him but you will not have a distance buffer to get to cover once you actually engage if things are not going in your favor 8) My personal favorite - I am pretty sure that still the SG got pretty shotty hit detection (pun intended) |

btw you do not have to stop sprinting to reload the shotgun, you can reload while jumping through the air and not lose any speed, never stop sprinting my friends. |

CANK! ... CANK!
The heavy soils pants, having lost almost all of his shields instantly and without warning.
He turns and spots a scout. 3 meters. He's close enough to touch!
Why's he standing so still? He's reloading! The idiot's using a breach!
The heavy chuckles. That was easy.
A scout with a breach shotgun. That's sooooo Chromosome. But thank goodness he didn't have Nova Knives.

the breach isn't a combat shotgun. it's a dedicated ambush OHK tool. you'll be relying on your smg for when you screw up. |

Excuse me, but when do you just need 10% extra damage to OHK? And even then, wouldn't you rather have 6 more shots than OHK the target? OHKing is easy enough with the basic if you know what you're doing, making such a role for the Breach obsolete. |

+1 to you. Once shields are ripped I'll advise to just switch to smg. If it took you 2 shot gun blasts to rip just his shields and a bit of health, for bloody sake switch to your ALT weapon! Think of the ladies that will mourn you! why doesn't any one think of the ladies?!

Part of the problem is they nerfed range on shotguns. Taking away sharpshooter apparently wasn't enough for them. |

you don't need it. but if that's the way you like to play, 10% damage and more range is a tasty opener. if you'd rather strafe face to gave with the shotgun, don't use the breach. personally I'd rather use an SMG for the last dance. |

Except that Nova knives are not all that effective. Maybe they get better with higher skill or at advanced or proto level. As of now as a scout I don't even have enough grid to equip advanced Nova Knives. |

Hmm... What if you dont have PG for the alt weapon ... say if you are a scout, since SG + Scout is a natural combo. |

Range is forgivable. ARs and HMGs rarely take due notice of their HUD and sprinting OHK mackines. The combination of terrible hit detection (the 0 damage, point blank headshot type in particular) and the CQC frame rate drop bottoming out with multiple visible targets, makes this weapon class absolutely frustrating. I love my Shotties. There isn't enough of a power scale between Militia and Proto variants. The only reason I skill into shotguns is for bigger clips or maybe CPU reduction if no other option suits the fit. If I can't OHK somebody with a Militia, I can usually 2HK them. If a third is required, they're probably already trying to run away. |

No, you missed the point. The BS is worthless.
A 2 shot mag with a RIDICULOUSLY slow ROF/Reload speed suggests that the Breach variant should be much MUCH stronger. The fact of the matter is that 2 shots will HARDLY kill anything anymore, even if you're sporting 2x complex mods.
You're ALWAYS better off with a specialist shotgun that can fire off more rounds AND reload faster, while giving you more fitting room. The Breach shotgun is dead, and there is no question about it.

So you're good with a sidearm? That's nice, but the sidearm isn't the shotty... anyone using the BS could be using the basic version and do at least twice as good. |
