For some reason, trying to use the nanite injector only works when standing over a dead body's legs. Now this, of course, is when it works at all, which is about 50% of the time. In addition to this, the "tap circle to revive teammate" is silly since it only brings the injector out, and doesn't actually just heal the guy.
So essentially nanite injectors are great way to die as you run from body to body, circle strafing in the wide open. In total this update has taken the time to revive a person from about a second and a half to five seconds. |

And of course about 80% of teammates are unrevivable.. period... no amount of strafing in circles up to 5-10m from their body will get the revive. |

I've started making logi fittings without injectors because of how rarely they work. Might as well use something else. |

When the clone is wounded his body is marked server side where his last bit of armor went out. At the same time, rag doll physics are going on locally on your PS3. Where the rag doll ends may not be where the clone actually is. But most the time they ragdoll forward, which is why reviving at around the ankles works. |

Hi Mercs,
I'd just like to acknowledge that we're aware of this problem and we're looking into various solutions, like allowing the client to do the "hit detection" and the server only make a check if it's reasonably close or not.
Cheers, CCP Draco |

I try the legs, but it doesn't always work. I stab around wildly near the body, and sometimes I can find the spot. I'd say I can usually revive about half the people asking for a revive. The rest, I have to give up on and keep playing the game.
Very glad to know you're aware of it. That client-side solution sounds like the way to go, as long as it isn't frequently the case that the server and client think the body is in significantly different places. |

Good idea. I remember that in one thread we talked about expanding the are from the 1foot where you can stab to 3 meters to compensate until a solution was found. It sounds like this is an inbetween with the client and the server - with the ragdoll effect - working towards this end. Well done, I'm excited to see if this works.

I get this client VS server thing but then how do you explain that sometimes a revive works after stabbing the dead merc for the 5th time in the same place?

Hey Draco do you know how to use the forums? Because you should really post your thoughts on your fix IN THE BUG REPORTING section where this thread has been active as an ant hill.

Forgive me if this is a little naiive, I'm not a programmer or developer in any way, but...
If the server knows where the dead body is (as it has to render it to show it), and it knows where the nanite injector is (on the player trying to do the rez) why is the fact that the body may be lying in a different place to where it's been killed even an issue?
Surely if the server knows where dead body A is and where player B is it's just a matter of making sure the two coordinates are as close as necessary irrespective of where the death occured and where the rag doll physics sent the body...? |

Perhaps try increasing the radius from the original drop point that the nanite injector will register as the downed teammate, therefore increasing the likelyhood of resurrecting your comrade by stabbing anywhere on the body. |

reasonably close??? it should be all client based, client says hit then its a hit BTW it knows where to inject, it gives me the point, direction and distance why cant it just be that point and leave it as that. Just bloody OP the injector and see what happens
if injector_distance <= 1m then rez_person = true
how hard could it be you already have all the other code functional and working except this last bit
I forgot the more AUR suits that die the more money CCP gets, I believe that is the real issue here |

Why not revert it to the way it was in chromosome (while fixing the "I got hit by an LAV , and even though you can see my body, the revive point is somewhere else stuff) ? It worked fine then, I could reliably revive teamates. |
