Dead horse: Just so long as there is the understanding that we will just basically just get to look at the loot and imagine it on the shelves of our Mercenary Quarters as if they were personal trophies. Because, until we can trade, most loot will not be useful. |

So when the new salvage system gets implemented if I lose a Gunnlogi. Then someone on either my team or the enemy team gets it? Does that include all the equipment I had on it like the railgun, blasters and modules? |

CCP Nothin wrote:TL;DR: The number of copies you will receive through salvage has been reduced and some items have been removed from the salvage table. Temporarily, while we make the system better. We've modified the salvage table to give out a reduced number of copies per salvage drop. Instead of giving out 5 to 10 copies at a time, we will give out 1 to 3. WeGÇÖll be deploying the changes today. Why, you might ask? Reducing down on the number of copies we give out is a temporary measure. It aims to minimize risk to the economy while we work towards a salvage system that is better integrated with the economy as a whole. The first milestone on this path is to make the salvage system take items that players lose on the battlefield and hand out a portion of them as salvage (in other words, looting the field). While that work is happening, we wish to limit our future risk and tread carefully by limiting the number of items we are constantly seeding to the economy for free. In addition to the reduced number copies per salvage, we have removed dropsuits and vehicles from salvage for the time being. If you have strong opinions that are backed with science on what you'd want to see in the loot tables, feel free to express them below. You can peruse the revised salvage table here: http://web.ccpgamescdn.com/dust/news.control/64583/1/LootTable.csv you should give us a part of whatever vehicle we destroy ...if it was a battle i could hop out and salvage something from the wreckage this also gives a huge bonus to running av or vehicle or even the combination of both. and would push allot more people to specialize as a sentinel |

Well, if your dropsuit/vehicle gets offed, it makes sense that you actually "salvage" the suit/vehicle for their equipment/weapons. It's makes sense. That way, maybe you can incorparate officer weapons into PvE, and make them hard to get, but rewarding for doing so. So, regular equipment and mods will be aplenty. They will be cheap, but that could help support an economy in eve, with production of the simpler mods. High end stuff comes from epic arc pVe, co-op between eve and dust.
so in a sense, you give certain eve ship hulls a "merc bay" . Say, 6 maximum, a squads worth. You can limit amounts of merc per hull, to include oth hulls for specific reasons. For PvE, you hop on a ship with your eve buddy, they take you to the mission site, he shoots your drop pod onto an asteroid or a base, you neutralize the internal threat, the ship outside takes out the threats in space. After all target are gone, you pick up the mercs, fly to the station, turn in mission.
I digress. The salvage system makes sense. I only hope they are looking into implementing Station games!!!!! |

Tolen Rosas wrote:this is fine, but remember CCP you can give us incentives to leave instant battles with better salvage in Facwar and do the same with escalating salvage in PC as well. Exactly. The best use of salvage is to create incentives for players to participate in different game types. There are a few pros and cons, however: 1. PRO: Better salvage for higher tier matches like FW and PC encourage those game types. 2. CON: Since those matches are only feasible for veteran players, you're just rewarding people who have the most already. 3. PRO: On the other hand, you're reducing the incentive for pub-stomping by creating bigger rewards outside of pub matches.
The dark cloud wrote:That loot table seems kinda small. Too small and removing vehicles from it doesnt help neither. If we are supposed to be aible to loot the items from other player drops then you should allow EVERYTHING beeing aible to get onto the loot table. If they allowed players to recall hacked vehicles into their personal assets, would this be a problem? I think for the sake of game balance we'd have to choose one or the other: 1) Put vehicles in salvage loot table; 2) Allow recall of hacked vehicles. I personally prefer 2 because it would be a lot more hands-on and exhilarating than hoping for a random payout.
J Falcs wrote:I guess I'll throw up my idea. This is not for seeding officer weapons. On that point, I have no clue.
1. Only the victor receives loot, the loser walks. I'm normally nicer with my comments, but this is a terrible idea plain and simple. It is never a good idea to reward players who are winning and not those who are losing, because then the difference between those with low SP/gear and those with high SP/gear goes from a gap to a chasm. The difficulty curve for new players in Dust is a cancer on the game and remains the biggest problem overall. Anything that goes against that is not good for the game. Lastly, you actually are encouraging pub-stomping by doing this because veteran players will gravitate towards matches where victory comes easiest. Terrible idea. |

The market is for buying things you want and use. The salvage system is for picking up bits and pieces of stuff from players who have died. It will only be useful to you if you play the same role as them. That makes sense. The loot should not be tailored to you rather it should be tailored to who you destroyed. Similar to EVE where a destroyed ship dops a portion of what it was carrying and fit with. In dust who gets that should be randomly determined from those who did the killing. The loot could also be portioned out between them. |

after reading little exept the top post how about we just do this.
lets say u have a high leveled tank.
i blow up that tank.
that tank and everything attached to it should now be mine.
it would be nice to salvage weaker gear like militia vehicles and lots of other stufff so in turn we should keep what we kill.
players might not be able to user most of it but salvage is salvage....
i dont know how officer weapons can be integrated further into the game but i think it would be nice if they could be bought for ridiculously high amounts isk.

that system is wrong. what about all the weapons that you can not use that you already found. i mean i would not use any of my officer weapons & who would if you know someone can salvage them if you die. that only way i see this working well if you open player to player trade. even if it is just dust to dust players. |

but most can not use but 1-2 officer weapons even then most only use them in PC battles. so how is a new sniper going to find a Thale TAR sniper rifle or a new assualt to find the Balac or Kirin assault rifles or any new people to find them? so if a enemry using one and i kill him someone else can get that salvage? open dust player to player trade i have 60 gastun HMG & 20 Gastun Forge Guns that i will never use. they are a waste with me. PLEASE OPEN DUST PLAYER TO PLAYER TRADING. this will help the new salvage system. |

so, essentially now salvage is almost a waist. You get 1 of something, yippy. What genius at CCP thought this was a good idea? Salvage has slowly been decrease, and decrease, and decrease. Just get rid of salvage then, as essentially thats what you did |

So can we get any more detail on how these loot tables 'roll'?
I'm going to do a hypothetical guess that each 'frequency' is a chance out of 100 to get the item...
In which case:
There is about a 100% chance to get 1 of something worth <20,000 ISK. There is about a 10% chance to get 1 of something worth ~30,000 ISK. There is about a .3% chance to get 3 of something each worth probably ~2,500,000 ISK.
This means that if you play 10 matches, on average you will come out with about 300,000 ISK additional from loot. IOW each match is worth around 30,000 ISK in free loot alone. Regardless of playstyle, role, time in battle, or wp earned.
That's 1 million in free ISK to the community each battle. |

So here's a salvage mechanics idea:
Step 1) Everything that drops on the field turns into it's basic and standard counterpart and then generates some random [item] components and scraps.
So a Sentinal ak.0 suit -> Amarr Heavy ak.0 and 7 dropsuit components and 5 scraps.
Step 2) Then let players 'modify/craft' their own specialized ADV and PROTO gear using these components and scraps.
Example: To turn that Amarr Heavy ak.0 back into its corresponding sentinal suit, a player would have to spend 10 dropsuit components and 25 scraps. Additionally, the basic suit could alternatively be disassembled into less efficient amounts of components and scraps. Assembly always requires more parts than disassembly or looting would give from destruction.
This effectively lets you degrade the value of things lost in combat while letting the 'wealth' of it become more transferable without needing trade.
Eventually components could be racialized once you get trade.
Dropsuit/Module/Vehicle/Weapon Assembly could all be skills that increase the efficiency of assembly and disassembly costs. |

Many of these gripes will be solved when we can do one or two things.
1. Trade/sell items between alts.
2. Trade/sell items to other players.
The one thing that gives me hope is that CCP does this quite well with EVE, so they have a good template and understanding of the market mechanic.

I haven't read past the OP but heres how I think salvage should be.
- add a 1/4 or 1/5 - for a chance chance when you kill somebody to randomly get one item used on the suit/vehicle (as in the suit, weapon, equipment, ect.)
- keep random salvage - to still get officer weapons and be nice on the new players
- get a random standard variant of the mlt items you destroy - if its a free fit
This is what I think salvage should be like, and if its already been mentioned whoops. |
